Succotash - National Harbor
SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified and passed from generation to generation for centuries. While Succotash between families will share similarities, each family’s recipe is deeply personal and reminiscent of those special suppers that brings kin together. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.

Not a good experience. Strict order rules re: table size and menu choices, and bill splitting rules. Stressful, slow experience. Do not get the tasting menu.
Outstanding meal. Everything was delicious. The service was top notch as well. However, the meals are a la carte be prepared for add-ons (sides).
Normally the food is on point; however, this time it was a definite miss on all fronts. From the appetizers being a bit too dry (cornbread) to the entrees being a bit off (asked for the dirt chicken to have ranch Vice bleu cheese, but didn’t happen as well as the shrimp and grits being runny).
The Southern Dinner was fabulous!
The appetizers and entrees were brought out in a timely manner! The waitress and waiters were polite and efficient.
Food was ok. I had the hangover special, it looked like crap in the skillet, no presentation at all. The pulled pork had a very vinegary taste, the potatoes were almost none existent and none if it was very good. The biscuit was tasty but was plopped onto the meal on top of the gravy which was not appetizing. Service was ok, drinks were slow, and halfway through the meal the waitress showed up with the check and a napkin with the garnish for the bloody Mary on it. Luckily, I have eaten here before and it was very good, or I would never return.
The service was excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful. The food was average for a restaurant of this caliber. The cocktails were superb and priced like most upscale restaurants in the greater Washington DC area. I would not eat a full meal here again, but I would stop by for a cocktail.
The food was tasty and our waitress was attentive and kind. We enjoyed our visit.
The atmosphere was nice, bathroom clean and our server, Diamond, was great. We started with delicious smoked wings but things went downhill after that. Of our party of six, only two enjoyed their meals (catfish and salmon). One would think the signature dish, succotash, would be a winner but the corn was incredibly hard and just tasteless. The huge bone under the short ribs was meant to make for a nice plated presentation but it did the opposite and actually turned my stomach. The tiny shrimp hidden in the shrimp-and-grits were unacceptable and the skillet cornmeal - I mean cornbread - was incredibly bland (although the maple butter helped a bit). Even the Hummingbird cake was a disappointment simply because it was served ice cold instead of room temperature. The best item was some kind of delicious rum punch that made us all a little tipsy and lightened the mood. 🙂 Overall, we had a great time laughing and catching up but the food left a lot to be desired. Next time we’ll just stop by for those tasty wings and rum punch!
Service was quite slow (has 2 waitresses, first was quite pleasant although less than proactive with follow-up; 2nd waitress was less than pleasant, too much time with follow-up, less than chagrined when sending FF back as too soggy; FF still not palatable and she less than apologetic; my check was slid on my table as she walked by.
Very poor experience this time and not likely to return.
Wonderful brunch. Very busy . Two expediters made food come out quickly. Highly recommend.
Brought my daughter here for her 17th Birthday. Very nice atmosphere! Since it was our first time here we decided to have The Taste of the South. This was a good choice because it would allow us to taste all of the restaurant "Fan Favorites". I was less than impressed. First they brought out Deviled Eggs. They were bland. No sugar at all. Next was corn bread. The menu says no sugar....totally true. The honey butter topping did give it some flavor. Next was fried green tomatoes with a salad. They were good. Then smoked chicken wings with a white sauce. They were good. Next Mac N Cheese and Catfish. Mac N Cheese was BOMB!!! Catfish was typical. Next was Chicken and Waffles. The chicken is twice fried so it was hard. The waffles were hard too but had a good flavor to them. Last was the collards greens with Kimchi and Ribs. The collards were very vinegary and the ribs were ok. We had Pecan cookies and and Chocolate Pecan Pies for dessert. They were ok. I like the atmosphere but will never come back to this place again. I also think the waiter was overwhelmed because he was very snappy and forgetful. I had to remind him to bring me a clean plate and drinks several times. He never asked if we needed a refill. When I asked him for a clean plate, he snatched my Dirty plate off the table. He was nice when we first got to the restaurant but as the crowd grew and he had more people he just became overwhelmed. My bill was $135 and I only gave him $10 because I didn’t like his attitude. It’s my nature to start at 20% and stay there for tip or go down depending on the service.
Family get together after seeing Cats at the Kennedy Center.
Chicken and waffles is 10/10 would recommend. So is the pimento burger. Belle’s punch was refreshing yet sneaky!
Lovely setting. Great service. Average food. Limited beer list. Probably wouldn’t go back
Bar service was exceptional, table service was just ok
Fried oysters were great, ribs just ok.
Wine took a long time to arrive and was warm. We had to ask for an ice bucket.
Great food; nice people great location
The food was delish! The decor is rustic and chill. Highly recommend making reservations for brunch days; it's very busy especially given the foor traffic from the harbor in general, we had one but others had a wait of up to 2 hours! Chicken & waffles and the Hangover special, yummy! I liked the pulled pork a little (just a little) more than the seasonings on the chicken- but thats just me. My husband enjoyed both. The price is not bad given the location- I think priced nicely.
Every dish and every drink was remarkable. Have to go back to work my way through the rest of the menu. Fantastic!
What an awesome dining experience! I made reservations (highly recommend you do so) on Open Table for my wife and I. We were a bit early and the hostess explained we would have to wait until closer to our reservation, but they still got us seated a few minutes early.
Mila was our server. She was outstanding right away. She was very attentive even though it was a busy Saturday night. She made recommendations and small talk.
The kitchen was organized and our appetizer and entrees came out well timed. The food was amazing! I had the Ribeye and my wife had Chicken and Waffles. Everything was cooked well and the flavors were incredible. The steak was tender and well seasoned. The chicken was crispy and ju
We ordered desserts to go and again Mila had great suggestions and made sure we had silverware (she has ascertained we were in a nearby hotel).
Overall one of the best complete dining experiences I’ve had in a while.
We really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere!
Mila - our waitress was, quite possibly, one of the best human beings on the planet. Loved the food. It felt like I was reliving my childhood in every bite. Carbs be damned , just enjoy yourself and tell them Jamie sent you.
We came for brunch and truly enjoyed everything about this restuarant. We decided to make this place the home of our quarterly brunch dates. Excellent!!!
I enjoyed the dirty chicken cobb salad. The chicken was spicy and tender, and I love the cornbread croutons.
Great atmosphere and great service. My wife and I have been wanting to go there for a while. And we finally did for our wedding anniversary and it didn’t let us down. We both left happy and full. We would certainly visit again and recommend it to our friends and family.
Everything my friends and I ordered was the perfect temperature, taste and portion. You will not be disappointed. Loved the ambiance!
Real pleased. Had the short rib. Very tender and the sauce that came with it was great.
Noisy and expensive. Everything is al a carte . Our protein was $22 alone . Want a side vegtable, it's another $8 to $10. Whole ordered not arrive at same time. A side salad cake out at end of meal.
First time at a traditional southern style restaurant. The cornbread side dish was best ever. I had salmon good but I should have chosen something more special. One person had shrimp and grits (see photo). There were fabulous cocktails a lot of bourbon choices in a variety of prices up to $110. Waiter was ok but kind of had an attitude. I'd go again for the amazing food.
Bar service fir the brief period I was there seemed fine. Being seated took a bit longer than expected for dinner time with a reservation, because the host was nowhere to be found and then seemed peeved to see someone waiting fie him at the front of the house. Table service was inattentive and forgetful about the one addition we requested, though she was polite and apologetic when she decided to stop by to check on us. Food was a bit spicier than expected but generally pretty good.
Best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had, and the suggested Mac and cheese side was likewise fantastic, fried green tomatoes were a super yummy take on the dish. I live in SC and have lived in GA so I’ve had all these dishes before.
We were visiting from NY and was VERY disappointed in the food. The fries we hard as a ROCK! They had to be sent back and the replacement fries were not much different. The collard greens were not as good as reported. However, the waitress was EXCELLENT!
Great time. Fast & friendly service matched with good food & drinks. What more can you ask for.
Great food! We were celebrating our anniversary, and had the Taste of the South menu which was delicious! We also had the Belle's punch which was perfect sweetness, and not too heavy or syrupy. Loved everything!
Food was really good. Service was ok. Location was very good with plenty of parking in nearby garages.
Had to grab a waiter to take our order, but everything after that was great.
This was my first visit and certainly won't be my last. I loved your menu and the food I had was awesome.
The food was really good and the service was great!
Good food and great service. Went for lunch and the restaurant was quiet.
Very enjoyable experience
