SuBi Japanese Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We love SuBI! They serve (among other things) terrific sushi, delicious miso soup, and phenomenal gyoza. Plus the restaurant has a family-friendly atmosphere, cheerful waitstaff, and pleasant decor. We feel incredibly lucky to have such a treasure so close to home.
Subi is our go-to restaurant when we want fresh Japanese inspired food. They have a great little sushi bar and also regular menu options. I love their Teriyaki Salmon bowl and bento boxes. It's a little family run place that has great cozy ambiance and we can walk there and back if we want.
While the food was delicious, the service needs some help. We were seated at 8pm and ordered only to wait nearly an hour for our food because they lost our order. Those things happen but no one came to our table to tell us about the wait or offer something for the trouble. When the food was put down the waitress said they were closing soon so if we wanted something else we needed to order in the next few minutes. After we got our food, we never saw the waitress again and sitting in the corner means no one was looking over, the staff was cleaning up, drying glasses even though we would have liked some more water, I asked for ginger and it never came but again, no one was looking over at us for about 25 min while we finished eating. For an expensive dinner, which was very tasty, I think the staff could communicate a bit better with there customers to make the meal more enjoyable. I'll try it again on another night.
I was not impressed with this place. I made reservations at 715 and there were openings when I got their early but they made me wait until 725 to be seated. The service was not great at all. It took a long time to get water and the server wasn't really engaged or friendly. I was so excited to go here after reading a few reviews but I will not go back. I'd much rather stay in Silverdale and go to Origami's or Hikata's! I spent way too much money for mediocre service and okay food.
We love SuBi. It's our "go-to" Japanese/Sushi/Korean restaurant on the Kitsap Peninsula. We love everything on the menu. The sashimi and sushi are particularly good. But sometimes we like to enjoy the few Korean specialities on the menu. Specials are often inventive and feature rare and very fresh ingredients. Service is traditionally great. We love it.
A very well run family restaurant that offers some of the best fresh Sushi and prepared meals for miles around. Their Tempura Shrimp/Vegetable offering is one of our long time favorites. Great for family group settings or private dining. Has been an institution on Bainbridge Island for many years. Should be a must dine on your list as well...it is on ours.
If you are seeking complicated sushi presentations that are sauce-laden and feature a variety of fish on a single roll, you can find that here. But what I prefer that SuBI does so well, are the classics, nigiri and sashimi where a single fish is allowed shine. If you like sweet, fresh uni, this is also your spot. If you love mirugai (geoduck) that is uber fresh, and gently crisp, harvested from a local beach, this is your place, too. Love SuBI!
SuBi is a good all around Japanese restaurant, but Sushi is the speciality. The do also offer some noodle dishes and rice dishes including Korean style dishes like Bimimbap. A huge menu with an impressive, even overwhelming choice.
The night we went, there was a group seated beside us who were extremely loud, and that dampened our personal experience some, but no blame to the restaurant for that.
Service was adequate, but not super, I think they should have been a little more attentive.
Overall, if you are on Bainbridge and want sushi, it is likely your only option and well worth a try.
Second time for us, and still well worth it. Undoubtedly the best sushi in Kitsap county, if not west of Puget Sound. Someone there definitely knows how to select sushi-grade fish (although we're surprised to see escolar offered ... caveat emptor). Nice selection of saki's. Menu is extensive and creative, and offers variety without seeming to be everything for everybody. Watch for the specials! Decor is comfortably modern, with Japanese style. Booths are intimate, but you don't feel excluded, unless you're in one of the two private rooms. Staff is friendly, helpful, and timely. What's more to say? Reservations definitely help, particularly anywhere around happy hour, when it can get boisterous.
Arrived early with the hopes of being seated early. No luck as the place was packed which was a pretty good indicator. Finally got seated at a booth with the wife. Glanced through the menu as the place was packed and ordered two sashimi dishes and four rolls with unlimited hot green tea. Total cost was right around $72 and the wait was right 20-30 minutes for everything to arrive at the table. The waitress was helpful in informing us that the order would take some time as the kitchen was overwhelmed. After receiving everything and being fully stuffed the only disappointment was the Spicy Spicy roll which really didn't have any kick. All in all the night was nice and I and the spouse were satisfied.
