Stroubes Seafood and Steak
Great menu. Great food. Great service
The service was outstanding. Food was also excellent. I had the redfish and my husband had mahi-mahi special. We will definitely be back.
Terrible service. Reservation for 5:30 for dinner before a concert starting at 7:30. Had to wait 15 minutes before being seated at our table. Went to the bar for drinks but could not get served. Ordered two drinks at our table they never arrived. Put in our dinner order after waiting about 35 minutes because we were running out of time. Requested bread for our table it never arrived nor did our food. Bottom line we were at the restaurant about an hour and 15 minutes all we were served was water. No one checked on us and we finally gave up and walked out. No food no drinks not even bread. We were there to celebrate my birthday. Without a doubt the worst service ever. I am 68 years old and my wife and I dine out frequently. No plans to go back to this restaurant. Someone should tell the owner to hire a manager who knows how to run a restaurant. Whoever is there now has no clue. We were told by the waiter the one time he came to our table was our drinks were delayed because the bar ran out of clean glasses!!?? At 6:00 pm in on a Thursday night?? I almost never write a review but felt compelled to write this time. I use Open Table all the time and hope this experience is shared with the owner of Stroubes.
It’s the little that will cause you to fail. (1) was seated at a broken table in the lounge area (2) my wife was served some rolls that the beef smelled written. Sent it back and no one from management came to our table address it. The waitress was good and did her job. Seems like management is not doing it’s job
Great service and food, the red fish with the crawfish risotto was outstanding !
Second time visiting Stroubes. Enjoyed our evening, the crawfish beignets were great! I could have finished an entire order on my own. We both ordered the Beef Bourguignon and it was tasty, but warm. I only gave 3 stars because of the temperature of our dinner. We will be visiting again.
This was our first time; and it will not be the last time. The steaks were juicy, tender, and cook the way we like them. The bread pudding was great! Ed, our waiter, was friendly and did great job in making our dinner experience fantastic! Stroubes is a keeper for us when we are in Baton Rouge. I do know my family and I will have a great dinner!!
LSU Parents Weekend!!
What a lovely experience! We were visiting my son at LSU and wanted a nice dinner. We started with the crawfish beignets, then I got the Redfish dish (with crabmeat in a sauce along with crawfish risotto), my husband got the venison/pasta dish, and my son got the beef borginion. We were all very pleased with our meals. Then, we got the bread pudding and the amoretto creme brulee. Oh my goodness! That creme brulee! Our server was wonderful, and the ambiance was great. Will definitely be returning!
Outstanding choice for a light lunch with out of town guests! Still find their wedge salad to be a real winner. Guests both enjoyed their gumbos and salads (one wedge & One Storube's) (weather was too hot for a local to eat gumbo....).
A wonderfully civil lunch downtown!
The best steak I’ve ever had. So tender and cooked to perfection. Bread pudding was incredible as well. And service was superb!!
Great dinner! Appetizers were amazing!
Always the very best service! Food perfect. I had Red Fish! Fantastic. One of my favorite restaurants!!
We liked the nice atmosphere, drinks, and professional aervice. However, the food was not as flavorful as we like with the exception of the duck egg rolls. Might go again for Happy Hour only.
Great meal and fantastic food special. Great atmosphere for any business dinner in downtown BTR!
Amazing! Perfect date night and DELICIOUS food!
Only draw back was a large party that was way too loud. Other than that, excellent evening.
It was my first time at this restaurant. My family and I were celebrating my husbands Birthday. The food was awesome and reasonably priced. Our waitress was very attentive and her attitude was very perky! The atmosphere was very peaceful. We will definitely be back! How did I forget to mention the bread they give you. The Bomb!
Date night was great
Food was not good. And it was served lukewarm. Crab was not fresh...tasted very strong. No wonder there was hardly anyone there!
Worth every cent.
Great vibe, excellent wine selection and awesome food!!
Where do I start? We have eaten at Stroubes several times and have had good experiences. However, this night was a far below what we expected. The appetizers and salads were good but then it went downhill very quickly. The steak was over cooked - we sent it back but then the new steak came back basically raw and cold. The duck was OK but it was served on cold mashed potatoes. The green bean side dish was just plain terrible and also cold. The waiter was just as frustrated as we were but then again do you really have to ask for bread and water twice before you get it? Overall a very disappointing night.
Terrible food. Restaurant needs a makeover. Way overpriced for quality of food served. Waitress definitely had an attitude when we complained. Will never come back or recommend.
I arrived for lunch . The atmosphere was nice. The server was moderately attentive -possibly because it was lunch time. I was not impressed with the duck and Andouille soup. I ordered a it to go and it was given to me cold. There weren't much ingredients in the soup. It was mostly a thick gravy like texture . I ordered the Strobes salad with grilled shrimp added. The grilled shrimp in my opinion was a bit bland .The shrimp could have been a ;little more seasoned . So overall ..It was Alright … also the booth I was seated in the leather bench was torn . I had to sit on the opposite side so that it didn't rip my thin material dress.
It was Restaurant Week and my husband and I had tickets for a concert at the Manship Theatre next door. Stroube’s was offering a three course Restaurant Week menu for $25 so we decided to have a pre-concert dinner there. We have eaten at Stroube’s several times in the past and have always considered it a 5 Star experience. Possibly, they had to cut some corners on the food to make their Restaurant Week offerings fit into the $25 price point. Our server was excellent. He was attentive without being obtrusive. We both had the turtle soup appetizer. It was flavorful and we were both happy with it. My husband ordered a small side salad as an extra. It was a nice size version of their Stroube’s salad and it was quite good. We both ordered the Redfish with crawfish sauce over risotto and haricots verts. The fish was oversalted and the risotto, while palatable, lacked the creamy texture of a freshly made risotto. It was like a block of rice under the fish..The haricots verts were nicely done, not over cooked with just the right degree of crispness. We had asked for some bread when our server brought us our entree expecting either some rolls our a few slices of French bread. We had just about finished our entrees when our server brought us a hot loaf of French bread with a cheese/garlic topping. It was good but would have been more enjoyable earlier in the meal so if you want bread, be sure to order it at the beginning when you give your order. For dessert, my husband ordered the bread pudding and I ordered the chocolate pot de creme. The bread pudding had a good flavor but it was so dense, it verged on being rubbery. My dessert was a serving of chocolate pudding with an ample topping of whipped cream that was kind of ordinary but satisfied my chocolate craving. Overall, it was an adequate meal, just not as wonderful as on our previous visits. Perhaps, we will stick to steaks in the future.
food was great, server was great and very attentive when we needed anything and I will definitely be returning for future date nights.
Wonderful food, atmosphere, and what a great value for restaurant week!! Bar was a little slow, but we wanted a leisurely dinner. Quianna was great!!
Went restaurant week .Beautiful menu. Food picturest and was so.o. good. Loved the ambiance. Our server was attentive. Wé would go again.
We had a wonderful experience. It was everything we expected from a quality restaurant. The waitress was very pleasant and informative. The steak had a great flavor, and we eat a lot of steak, so that should not be taken lightly. The salad was a meal in itself. It was a perfect evening and we will visit here again.
Crab gnocchi was delicious, but a very small portion.
The food was spectacular, and the service was amazing. They had a rush at the time I arrived and the management was kind enough to check in on us, update us on the delay and when the food did arrive it was fresh and delicious. Will return and would recommend.
I was looking for a nice restaurant w/ great food to take my wife for our anniversary. After reading the reviews I thought this would be a nice place to take. Well it wasn’t I walked in told the lady we have reservations gave her my name she didn’t even looked to confirm my reservation. Then we sat down the waitress didn’t ask us what brings us in tonight or nothing. She wasted water all over the floor near us. I ask her to light the candle on the table she got one and didn’t light. She didn’t make any suggestions at all on what to eat even thou this was our first time, she haven’t ask if we been there before. To top it all off she bought my. 16oz ribeye at its was FATTY more fat than meat. She call the manager and right away he notice it was FATTY. He apologize and took the steak with him and offered me something else but at this point I don’t want anything. So far for having a great 25th Anniversary meal.
Recent experience was disappointing. I should preface this review by saying that we've enjoyed all previous visits to Stroubes. Our most recent visit just missed the mark on almost every level. Although nothing was bad, you expect more than mediocrity at a restaurant of this caliber. From the drinks, to the food, and to the service, it was all just ok. And considering the price tag, it's just a shame.
I could understand and off night with one or other, but there is a clear issue with management.
Food was amazing, server was slow and food was too fast. We were in and out in less then an hour with 4 people. We wanted to relax and catch up with our friend but felt like we were being rushed out the door. Usually it’s an amazing experience. But apps came out before drinks at the bar and food came shortly after our first sips of our cocktails.
Stroubes is one of our regular stops. This time we brought friends as we all were celebrating special occasions. Our waitress, Keiyana Jones, was amazing and attended to all our needs in a very professional manner. The hostess greeted us at the door very professionally and checked on us during our visit. Overall, this visit was exceptional.
Went on a Tuesday night so no crowd and easy parking
Our waitress was over the top
Steaks was excellent with a charcoal grill flavor not cooked in a skillet and the chef was perfect on temperature of steaks
Sides and salads could have easily been a meal in themselves
My husband stated that was one of the best steaks and he has had steaks all over he compared it to del Friscos in Vegas!
