Acclaimed Chef Michael Mina breaks new ground with the debut of StripSteak by Michael Mina - Mandalay Bay - Las Vegas, his first steakhouse. With its classic menu, inviting bar scene and sophisticated atmosphere, StripSteak plays host to guests looking for the perfect filet in a modern alternative to the traditional steakhouse setting. StripSteak offers a variety of beef options, including Certified Angus Beef and American Wagyu beef and is home to two wood-burning grills and six circulating, slow-poaching chambers. StripSteak by Michael Mina - Mandalay Bay - Las Vegas Ratings and Reviews
Experience started out very badly. We had an 8 pm reservation for three. We arrived about 10 minutes early and were told they were running on time. After waiting about 45-60 minutes and checking multiple times we were taken to a table.....two small round tables pushed together in an attempt to make a table. This setup may have been fine for a drink at the bar but not for a special dinner. I have never been so frustrated and ready to walk out. The manager bought us a round of drinks and said he would work on getting a real table in the next couple of minutes. The service recovery that followed was awesome. We were seated at one of the best tables and he surprised us with an appetizer and later dessert. A very bad experience turned into a great dinner.
This was my first time dining at this restaurant. As I was dining alone, I chose to eat at the bar.
The meal was okay, but compared to other steak restaurants I've eaten at, it wasn't the best steak I've ever had.
My primary reason for rating it 'okay', was the wood-fired taste of the meat. I suppose some might like it, but I felt it distracted from the flavor of the meat.
With the steak costing over $60, I was expecting to be blown away. I wasn't.
Service at the bar was very good. They prepared a cucumber martini for me which I really enjoyed. The Mac n Cheese side that I ordered was yummy.
Great location for a business dinner and very accommodating of food allergies. We had a group of 16 and it was not too loud like many places in Vegas, waitstaff were very knowledgeable and relaxed and the food great. American Wagyu Filet served medium rare was perfectly seasoned and one of the most tender steaks I’ve ever had.
My husband and I eat here every time we are in Vegas! Love it! Food is amazing....starting with the fries and dipping sauces as soon as you are seated to the caramel corn when you leave! Servers are very attentive and it seemed like we had 3-4 servers always checking to make sure we were happy! We will definitely go next time we are in town.
Not a bad experience, but for the price, I’d recommend almost any other steak place. Food wasn’t bad, but nothing special. Filets were average cuts. It’s the ambiance that sucked. You feel like you’re at a food court in any average shopping mall. We were seated next to a table with kids on one side, and a guy in shorts and sandals on the other. Just not the fine dining place it try’s to appear to be online. For $300 (2 people) there are dozens of places in Vegas that I’d rather go to.
Food was very good as expected. Waiter seemed unoriginal and slow. We are not accustomed to this having made this a must stop over the past several years. We were seated next to a large party with 8-9 children under the age of 10. A quite meal was not possible.
Not the restaurants fault, but come on people, a restaurant in a smoke filled casino is not the place for small children.
I always eat at the bar here. The food is terrific - the gratis fries, oysters, steak, and the drinks thoughtully constructed. The bar crew is amazing - kudos to Anthony, and also Ryan - they always remember you even after a long absence and make you feel wanted and welcomed. A “go to” place in Vegas!
I pretty much take all my friends to StripSteak, as for me it is the best wagyu tomahawk chop I have had the pleasure of tasting - which all my friends soon agree with.
The only knock on this visit was that service was very slow to start, as we were left without seeing our waiter or even getting drinks for a good 5-10 minutes. It seemed like they were a bit understaffed, but once it got started we got the great meal that I have to come expect from here.
After the first bite of the tomahawk chop, my friend told me I have to bring his friend here. :)
Our meal was very good overall and I would not discourage anyone who was visiting to try this restaurant. Without question it would rate as a 5 star restaurant for many people. My personal experience was more a 4 star not because they did anything wrong but only because my personal preferences would have me choose a few other similar high end steakhouses in town.
Stripsteak is my girlfriend’s favorite steakhouse on the Strip. We’ve been several times and it’s always amazing. This visit was for her birthday, The service was impeccable, food was amazing. Jason (server) was one of the best we’ve experienced (anywhere in the city) both meals were slightly over cooked originally (we are med rare people) so they sent both plates back without hesitation, sent the manager to the table, who apologized profusely, then had them remade to perfection. It was not a typical evening (Monday post Thanksgiving weekend). We mentioned to the manager that we loved the foie gras there, had recently prepared our own at home, and we were curious as to their preparation - he sent the chef came to the table (w/our new plates) to explain the preparation. He was even gracious enough to listen to our (my) story of our own foie gras experiment. They bought my lady another glass of wine and comp’d dessert. I mentioned her birthday when I made the reservation, but the attention to detail and presentation shattered expectations. We love Stripsteak!
Pleasantly surprised to see full menu and not just meat choices (although I enjoy both) and a robust wine list! All was what you would expect from an upscale restaurant with one caveat: my otherwise delightful waitress mistakenly ordered salmon instead of scallops for me. When she realized her mistake, she owned up to it and put in the scallops order to the kitchen. I THOUGHT to tell her to have them take their time since I wanted the scallops to be cooked correctly but chose not to based on my expectations due to the "foodie" type menu and prices of the food. As a result, the scallops (at $42) came out a bit "slippery" without the flavor that would have been present if grilled. Did not take issue on the spot since I was at a celebratory dinner and did not want to "harsh the buzz". Also, waitress or manager did not offer complimentary "anything" for their mistake.
StripSteak exceeded my expectations in every way. I have eaten in Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak in D.C. on many occastions. I always found the steak good, but not great. Not so at StripSteak. I have not a better filet mignon anywhere. Cooked to perfection and not dry (which because of low fat content filets often are). Great vegetables. And best of all - the service. Our waiter was perfect, and enhanced the great experience.
