About Strip House
A sultry steakhouse in New York City’s Greenwich Village where old-world glamour meets modern style and sophistication. Experience the combination of charred cuts perfectly paired with decadent sides, such as Truffle Creamed Spinach and Goose Fat Potatoes. And be sure to save room for the famed 24-Layer Chocolate Cake.
Named a top steakhouse by Zagat and awarded four stars by Forbes, the namesake cut of aged beef isn't the only work of art to marvel upon...just take a look at the walls and tell us you don’t agree. Black and white vintage photos of bordello girls from the original 1900’s Studio Manasse collection reference an era of decadence and seduction.

Strip House Ratings and Reviews
The food is great, and the steak is really good. The bread before the meal is quite awesome. However, the service is quite mediocre. No one fills our water until we ask. The waiter speaks quite fast and does not smile. Would recommend take out instead of dine in.
Ive been here about 100 times, One of my favorites, but ours steaks this time were not seasoned well. They were so overly peppered it made them inedible unfortunately. Typically, I have nothing but 5 stars for them, but really should have sent them back. I am not sure if there is a new chef there but it was a bummer.
All the sides and apps were amazing as usually, but the steak was a major disappointment.
From the moment we arrived I knew I picked a perfect place for a date with an old flame. The ambiance was sexy and the hostess gave us the coziest spot. We shared everything, starting with oysters. They were amazing! Then we spilt a grilled wedge and the best 40oz bone-in ribeye. The creme spinach was yum. The miso broccoli was a great new find! The finale was an amazing 24 layer chocolate cake with a great dessert wine. Service was more than you would expect in NYC. Everyone was very warm at heart and accommodating. My only regret is I was so into my date, I forgot our servers name, and can't thank them online. I give this one 5 stars across the board. Thank you Strip House
I've visited this downtown Strip House on a few occasions, and always come back for chocolate cake. The food was is good, the steak a bit charred and the sides a bit salty and extremely rich, but overall the experience has always been pleasant, nothing spectacular. I came here recently for restaurant week and was advised that they were only offering the RW dinner menu at their neighboring restaurant "Speakeasy". Of course you could imagine my disappointment as I am actually on the restaurant's mailing list and received an email indicating their participation in RW with no specific mention of RW lunch in the main dining room and RW dinner in the Speakeasy. Apparently, many guests with reservations at Strip House were also under the same impression as the manager was ready at hand to apologize for the confusion (God bless her soul) and offer a solution. A few walked out and some stayed like us, probably feeling the same way we did, duped....
The service was great and dining specials were informative. The Rib Eye steaks (bone in & out) were cooked to order and taste great...... The side order of fries and desert cheese cake were delicious. I highly recommend this place for a Romantic dinner for 2 or a group celebration.
Th e Strip House is like stepping back in time to a Speakeasy with lots of mood lighting, old pictures adorning the walls, and wait staff elegantly dressed. We both had steak (Filet mignon and ribeye) with sides of asparagus and goose-fat roasted potato. Everything was perfectly prepared and presented. The cabernet sauvignon was smooth and richly flavored. This won't be an inexpensive meal, but I guarantee it will be memorable.
Rib eye and Manhattan cocktail were both disappointing. The steak was a bit tough and not too flavorful. Everything else was good but not great. Pretty underwhelming overall for the price and considering past visits. I’ve been coming here a long time and probably won’t be back for a while.
The quality of the food greatly exceeded my expectations. The tuna tartar was excellent with a touch of cucumber flavor. My bone-in fillet was perfect! Better than any steakhouse in NY, including Peter Luger. The creamed spinach with black oil was splendid. The service: excellent bar man (Ariel), and terrific waitress (Esme). Hostess a bit clumsy, and lacked warmth. Atmosphere is warm and old world.
What a dump! It’s basically a dinner serving steak. This place was good years ago but now it seems that it has been neglected. Service is so poor. We sat for at least 20 minutes before anyone ever showed up to our table. Food was ok at best. Nothing special at all.
Overall it was a good experience and the food was good, we were there for a birthday celebration and when we ordered the dessert it came with a candle so that was a very nice touch. the food was tasty, we had the ribeye which was cooked the way we asked and the foie gras and scallop appetizer was delicious, would definitely recommend them. the only awkward part of the entire dining experience was being seated right next to a table of two when the restaurant was practically empty since we had a really early dinner reservation. the matre’d led us to the table and asked loudly whether the table was okay, it was a bit uncomfortable to say it wasn’t okay, since we didn’t want to offend the other patrons, but why did she seat us right next to them when there were plenty of other seats available? even by the end of our dinner there were still seats available, so the choice to seat us where she did made the night a bit awkward because we could hear their entire conversation the entire night when we could’ve had a more private dinner.
Had heard good things about this place and it definitely held up its end of the bargain! We’ve been trying to eat through a list of great steakhouses in NYC and this is definitely on the list ! Great wine and cocktails, steaks are great quality and seasoned to perfection ! Make sure to try the strip house potatoes, broccoli and even this french press coffee is delicious ! Make sure to walk in with and empty stomach because you’ll want to eat everything !
Overall a decent experience but not "We'll defo come again". While the steaks were good, we've had better; the filet mignon (ordered medium) was not "melt in your mouth" tender and my ribeye (also medium) was more medium well. The roasted asparagus was quite good with a creamy sauce. The place is dimly lit with reddish/orangish lighting and decor consists mainly of black & white photos of actors/actresses no longer with us (most of whom I couldn't recognize). Bathroom could use an overhaul, it strangely has a heater above the side of the toilet (heat rises but what do I know...). Our waiter, Aaron, was very knowledgeable though and provided an excellent customer service.
My brother and I wanted to celebrate our last evening in the city together. all was well and the food was great. when the bill came to our table we found that we were overcharged by 14$ for wine!! and after that, the waiter overcharged us for another 100$ !!! Travis the manager apologized but at that point, this totally ruined our evening. the waiter didn't even understand the damage he had caused!! very disappointed and hoped for at least a discount on the payment due to the inconvenience, seems like the didn't care about the customers feeling at all!
I've eaten here multiple times before and always enjoyed it--not this time. My husband and I went for NYE, as we have the last few years, which also is his birthday. I put this in the reservation and mentioned it again when I confirmed the reservation the day before. However, during the meal, nothing was done to acknowledge his birthday, which was a big disappointment and left me embarrased.
In addition, I felt everything was off. We were seated in the "speakeasy" next door, even though I had specifically made the reservation for the main restaurant. It was cold in the speakeasy and we were seated next to the bar where the tv was on. After midnight, I saw three managers go over to the bar and do shots together--they have a right to celebrate too, but it wasn't exactly the atmosphere I was counting on. We had to ask twice for bread, which came only after our appetizers were half-finished. My husband ordered a second drink (same as his first), the bartender made something different. His steak wasn't hot. Overall the food was fine, but so many other things were wrong, it was hard to enjoy it. Finally, before we were finished (and there were still a lot of guests at tables), the busboys started grabbing all the ballons (decorations for NYE), popping them and taking them outside. They really should have waited until everyone has left--it was one step short of turning up all the lights and telling everyone the party was over and "GET OUT!"
I know that it was late in the evening and I'm sure the place was busy all night, but for the prices they charge, I expect more.
