The term "Super Tuscan" has been in use since the early 70's. Producers such as Antinori and Tenuta San Guido released the notable wines Tignanello and Sassicaia in an effort to erase the damage being done to Italian winemaking with poorly made straw basket chianti. The only good thing those bottles were for was holding candlesticks after being emptied. Using modern techniques and facilities winemakers started producing world class wines even though, at the time, could only be called Vino di Tavola or Table Wine. Tenuta San Guido had been growing cabernet sauvignon and experimenting with Bordeaux style blends since the 40's. Their sharing of the previous unreleased vintages and success would influence Alceo di Napoli to produce his own cabernet based wine that debuted in the early 80's. Sammarco was born. Though not as well known as the big names, this is a wine that rivals all. The winery also was one of the first to go fully organic and biodynamic, further pushing the level of quality forward. They decided to produce the family's pinnacle wine, what is now known as Vigna d'Alceo, in 1990. Unfortunately, Alceo was unable to taste the bottling as he passed away during that vintage. His name lives on in the wine. Enjoy the selection
The food is great, and the steak is really good. The bread before the meal is quite awesome. However, the service is quite mediocre. No one fills our water until we ask. The waiter speaks quite fast and does not smile. Would recommend take out instead of dine in.
Excellent - food, service and ambience
Beautiful restaurant red lit dining room amazing dinner an dessert we will be. Back!
Great food, courteous service. Excellent meal with my wife for Valentine’s day. One of our favorite steak houses around.
Service was a bit slow and the Martini was not cold. Had to ask for ice.
Ive been here about 100 times, One of my favorites, but ours steaks this time were not seasoned well. They were so overly peppered it made them inedible unfortunately. Typically, I have nothing but 5 stars for them, but really should have sent them back. I am not sure if there is a new chef there but it was a bummer.
All the sides and apps were amazing as usually, but the steak was a major disappointment.
Food was excellent
The staff was very attentive
The manager came over several times to insure we enjoyed ourselves.
I would absolutely recommend the strip House to Friends!
Average American steak house meal at an extremely expensive price even for Manhattan
Service was good, the New York steak is amazing!
From the moment we arrived I knew I picked a perfect place for a date with an old flame. The ambiance was sexy and the hostess gave us the coziest spot. We shared everything, starting with oysters. They were amazing! Then we spilt a grilled wedge and the best 40oz bone-in ribeye. The creme spinach was yum. The miso broccoli was a great new find! The finale was an amazing 24 layer chocolate cake with a great dessert wine. Service was more than you would expect in NYC. Everyone was very warm at heart and accommodating. My only regret is I was so into my date, I forgot our servers name, and can't thank them online. I give this one 5 stars across the board. Thank you Strip House
We went on Super Bowl Sunday, so the restaurant was a little emptier than usual. Service was good, food was great. Will definitely go back.
Great steak with great service.
Amazing food, drinks and atmosphere, as always!
Food was good, drinks were great, steaks were not on par with what I would expect for a high end steak house, but still tasty. The 24-later cake was amaze-balls!
