Strip House is a vibey downtown bordello of goodness, and is the antithesis to the things we hate about a place like Sparks or The Palm.

We partner with The Infatuation to bring you their smart, helpful, trustworthy reviews of restaurants on OpenTable.

About Strip House

A sultry steakhouse in New York City’s Greenwich Village where old-world glamour meets modern style and sophistication. Experience the combination of charred cuts perfectly paired with decadent sides, such as Truffle Creamed Spinach and Goose Fat Potatoes. And be sure to save room for the famed 24-Layer Chocolate Cake.

Named a top steakhouse by Zagat and awarded four stars by Forbes, the namesake cut of aged beef isn't the only work of art to marvel upon...just take a look at the walls and tell us you don’t agree. Black and white vintage photos of bordello girls from the original 1900’s Studio Manasse collection reference an era of decadence and seduction.

Visit our second NYC location, Strip House Midtown at 44th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, or on the Las Vegas Strip at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

One of the best steakhouses in NY, meat quality is at the top. All other food options are fantastic; seafood tower, fois gras, salads. One day i will try the multi layer chocolate cake...

Excellent service. Excellent steak. Perfect Manhattan. Sides are delicious. Get the full seafood tower. And Best is all was the 24 layer cake.

Dinner was a birthday occasion (2-people). I suggest making reservations because there were a lot of people coming and going. The seats for 2 were a bit cramped but the diners were near us were interactive and there were no bad vibes (actually shared a few laughs and took pics of other's desserts). The bacon strips are like a meal itself and I highly recommend it to be your first choice of appetizers. Service was great and although it can be quite busy, they try their best to tend to you. Ask your waiter the specials and recommendations; they're quite knowledgeable. We got the Tomahawk steak for 2- delicious and great in quantity and flavor. We had to bring a few pieces home because we couldn't finish it. Scallops come in 2 pieces but were definitely worth the taste. But really, we were here for the 24-layered chocolate cake; bigger than expected and not as sweet and/or heavy as I thought it would be. I usually don't like chocolate cake but THIS was heavenly. We ate the cake with their french press Ethiopian Natural coffee which was a great pair.

We signed up for a 7pm reservation, confirmed by Opentable, via their website. They told us they had us down for 8pm even though we showed them our confirmed reservation (stressing again, made via their website). We sat at the bar in a mainly empty dining room. 8pm passed and we were never even seated.

Except for the service and wine, our dinner was absolutely spectacular. Tuna sashimi was some of the best I've had. Steaks were flavorful, tender, and perfectly cooked. Sides of truffled cream of spinach and goose-fat potatoes rivaled the steak. Cheese cake with lime glaze was unbelievably good.

Service was very inattentive. After taking our food order, our waiter disappeared. We had to waive down another waiter to place our wine order, which did not arrive until we were half way through our main course. The substitute waiter talked us into a $90 bottle of Malbec, on the grounds that the $80 was not very deep or dry. Neither was the $90 bottle. I've had better $20 bottles.

In sum, some of the best food around was matched by some of the worst service I've experienced in a high-end restaurant.

Strip House never disappoints. Rib Eye grilled and seasoned to perfection. Roasted garlic is a nice touch. It’s a little pricey but expected for a NY steakhouse. Service was classy and not smothering. Overall consistently a nice experience.

Good was good, service was off. Appetizer came out too fast, meal was on time ok. When we were done with our appetizer someone came by to give us the table next doors coffee. Our coffee came out later then our dessert. Tables too close to each other. Food was good.

They seated us more than 45 minutes after we arrived on time for our dinner reservation. This used to be my favorite restaurant but not anymore after how we were treated by the hostesses. They made it clear they don't value customers. Very sad to see such a great place decline like this.

Very old school steakhouse vibe, in a good way. The service was wonderful, very attentive at all times. The chocolate cake cannot be overstated. It's bigger than you realize and worth the calories. My only complaint was the temperature, it was so cold inside both of us kept our jackets on.

The ambiance is very out-of-the-ordinary...very striking and unique. Our waiter, Nigel was very helpful and attentive. We chose the filet mignon medium rare, hot in the center and it was served exactly that way. The baked potato was done just right and the condiments were tasty. It was an alround enjoyable experience.

Very cool setting and ambience. Friendly staff that was accommodating to my party of five. The food was average for a steakhouse....nothing really blew me away. I think I should have been "WOWed" for a $900 bill. Service was good but the porterhouse for two and the "chef special tomerhawk" were not that tasty. In addition, the wine list was waaaay overpriced. The thick cut bacon and oysters were my favorite dishes.

Dry aged porterhouse for 2 did not dissapoint! Cooked to perfection! Size was plenty for two, and the Brussel sprout side was also to die for. Amazing wine selection. Finished off with the 24 layer chocolate cake for a spectacular end of meal treat. Cannot wait to enjoy more meals with family at this place.

The waitress wasn't very friendly. The steak seems like it would have been good but there was so much salt, I couldn't really taste the meat. The mac and cheese and baked potato were good. The fries were undercooked, greasy and over-salted.
The drinks were good.

Overall, it was a mixed experience but I wouldn't go back for the price I paid.

While my New York cut steak was a bit overdone for “medium”, it was flavorful and worth the price. Most red wine bottles are priced at middle of three digits which seemed to me exceedingly high, it seemed to me that only corporate account holders could afford. Is it because I have returned to the city for the first time since 2009, I do not know.

A truly good steak dinner. Not every place that calls itself a steak house gets it right but these guys sure do. The meat came cooked just as requested and the service was prompt with both our steaks and the various side dishes we also ordered. My wife enjoyed her birthday dinner and got a photo with a well known actor as an extra surprise. Great night all around.
