About Strip House
A sultry steakhouse in New York City’s Greenwich Village where old-world glamour meets modern style and sophistication. Experience the combination of charred cuts perfectly paired with decadent sides, such as Truffle Creamed Spinach and Goose Fat Potatoes. And be sure to save room for the famed 24-Layer Chocolate Cake.
Named a top steakhouse by Zagat and awarded four stars by Forbes, the namesake cut of aged beef isn't the only work of art to marvel upon...just take a look at the walls and tell us you don’t agree. Black and white vintage photos of bordello girls from the original 1900’s Studio Manasse collection reference an era of decadence and seduction.

Strip House Ratings and Reviews
What a dump! It’s basically a dinner serving steak. This place was good years ago but now it seems that it has been neglected. Service is so poor. We sat for at least 20 minutes before anyone ever showed up to our table. Food was ok at best. Nothing special at all.
Overall it was a good experience and the food was good, we were there for a birthday celebration and when we ordered the dessert it came with a candle so that was a very nice touch. the food was tasty, we had the ribeye which was cooked the way we asked and the foie gras and scallop appetizer was delicious, would definitely recommend them. the only awkward part of the entire dining experience was being seated right next to a table of two when the restaurant was practically empty since we had a really early dinner reservation. the matre’d led us to the table and asked loudly whether the table was okay, it was a bit uncomfortable to say it wasn’t okay, since we didn’t want to offend the other patrons, but why did she seat us right next to them when there were plenty of other seats available? even by the end of our dinner there were still seats available, so the choice to seat us where she did made the night a bit awkward because we could hear their entire conversation the entire night when we could’ve had a more private dinner.
Had heard good things about this place and it definitely held up its end of the bargain! We’ve been trying to eat through a list of great steakhouses in NYC and this is definitely on the list ! Great wine and cocktails, steaks are great quality and seasoned to perfection ! Make sure to try the strip house potatoes, broccoli and even this french press coffee is delicious ! Make sure to walk in with and empty stomach because you’ll want to eat everything !
Overall a decent experience but not "We'll defo come again". While the steaks were good, we've had better; the filet mignon (ordered medium) was not "melt in your mouth" tender and my ribeye (also medium) was more medium well. The roasted asparagus was quite good with a creamy sauce. The place is dimly lit with reddish/orangish lighting and decor consists mainly of black & white photos of actors/actresses no longer with us (most of whom I couldn't recognize). Bathroom could use an overhaul, it strangely has a heater above the side of the toilet (heat rises but what do I know...). Our waiter, Aaron, was very knowledgeable though and provided an excellent customer service.
My brother and I wanted to celebrate our last evening in the city together. all was well and the food was great. when the bill came to our table we found that we were overcharged by 14$ for wine!! and after that, the waiter overcharged us for another 100$ !!! Travis the manager apologized but at that point, this totally ruined our evening. the waiter didn't even understand the damage he had caused!! very disappointed and hoped for at least a discount on the payment due to the inconvenience, seems like the didn't care about the customers feeling at all!
I've eaten here multiple times before and always enjoyed it--not this time. My husband and I went for NYE, as we have the last few years, which also is his birthday. I put this in the reservation and mentioned it again when I confirmed the reservation the day before. However, during the meal, nothing was done to acknowledge his birthday, which was a big disappointment and left me embarrased.
In addition, I felt everything was off. We were seated in the "speakeasy" next door, even though I had specifically made the reservation for the main restaurant. It was cold in the speakeasy and we were seated next to the bar where the tv was on. After midnight, I saw three managers go over to the bar and do shots together--they have a right to celebrate too, but it wasn't exactly the atmosphere I was counting on. We had to ask twice for bread, which came only after our appetizers were half-finished. My husband ordered a second drink (same as his first), the bartender made something different. His steak wasn't hot. Overall the food was fine, but so many other things were wrong, it was hard to enjoy it. Finally, before we were finished (and there were still a lot of guests at tables), the busboys started grabbing all the ballons (decorations for NYE), popping them and taking them outside. They really should have waited until everyone has left--it was one step short of turning up all the lights and telling everyone the party was over and "GET OUT!"
I know that it was late in the evening and I'm sure the place was busy all night, but for the prices they charge, I expect more.
We had Christmas dinner at Strip House. Despite the name and knowing how "classic" high-end steak places are in NYC, I was a bit put off by the nude and near-nude photos of women just over my husband's shoulder and the bordello lighting/ambiance. But all was forgiven when the food hit the table. It lived up to its reputation, delivering fantastic steaks prepared to perfection. The salads and sides were excellent, as well. And, despite the "old school" vibe, they respected the fact that I chose the wine and brought it to me for tasting, rather than to him (some places still do, sigh). The cocktails were delicious, the wine was perfect and served at the perfect temperature, and the flaming baked Alaska made a festive finish to the meal.
table size for four was not big enough for a party of two long bone ribeye special for two really for one and it was $125 quality good but not the best caesar salad had several brown pieces of romaine in it unacceptable especially at $15 side dishes were all good but not large and almost $20 EACH coffee and desert were excellent but again very pricey $700 plus for dinner for four with wine better spent at many other steak houses!
Food was good, service left a lot to be desired. Server came by to take our order, quickly ran by asking how our food was while carrying food to another table - and that's about it. Never refilled glasses or asked if we wanted a refill. She was more of a quick service diner server than fine dining.
Very Nice menu and so good dinner.
Meat was fantastic.
Funny details in side orders.
Unfortunatly we couldn't eat any dessert, but the chocolate cake looked fantastic.
Was recommended this place by a local New Yorker.
Service personel was fantastic......very nice.
OK steak house - nothing spectacular. Found the entrees, appetizers and seafood plateau to be on the small sides in comparison to other steak houses in NYC. Wines were incredibly overpriced and very few bottles under $125.00. The service was top-notch and the space was cozy with an old time feel. With all the other steak options in NYC I would not recommend or head back.
Had a reservation set for 8:45 pm and wasn't sat until 9:30. Once sat, we didn't have a server greet our table for over 15 minutes. The manager noticed and took our initial orders. I will admit they were busy, however for the price of the food, the service was absolutely terrible. I also do not think the quality of the food is worth the high price.
