About Strip House
A sultry steakhouse in New York City’s Greenwich Village where old-world glamour meets modern style and sophistication. Experience the combination of charred cuts perfectly paired with decadent sides, such as Truffle Creamed Spinach and Goose Fat Potatoes. And be sure to save room for the famed 24-Layer Chocolate Cake.
Named a top steakhouse by Zagat and awarded four stars by Forbes, the namesake cut of aged beef isn't the only work of art to marvel upon...just take a look at the walls and tell us you don’t agree. Black and white vintage photos of bordello girls from the original 1900’s Studio Manasse collection reference an era of decadence and seduction.

Strip House Ratings and Reviews
Really enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere here. Wish we'd been hungrier and could have stayed longer (had to get to the theater) but the food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. I've already recommended this restaurant to many people and look forward to going back. The tomahawk was great and everyone at neighboring tables seemed to enjoy their meal as well.
We were recommended the Strip house and booked from the UK online, when we arrived we were shown to a tiny table crammed between two others. The restaurant was so noisy that we had trouble hearing what the waiter had to say and had no chance of having a conversation with each other. We should have left then but decided to stay as we had been told the food was so good. Our steaks were amazing, the huge portion of fries were the same that you could have bought anywhere and the mushrooms ok. Waiters were constantly carrying bigger table tops behind us as we were eating, obviously trying to cram as many people in as possible. The noise was so horrendous that we finished our steaks and left without dessert much to the obvious disgust of our waiter. An expensive disaster and we would never recommend this place.
Food was not out of this world, could be better for the price I paid for. My friend and I feel the same about the price we paid for the food but the side was average. In the end, place looked cozy and a tad tight and price of the food was not worth paying for.
Overrated. Overpriced. Overinflated opinion of themselves. Wine list is most overpriced I’ve experienced in NYC and when the bring the bottle, it’s not the proper vintage. When asked to correct the mistake I was met with a growl and was immediately labeled a troublemaker. Not right when you are dropping over $500 for a dinner for 3.
Strip House never disappoints, and they were just as good on Thanksgiving. In addition to their excellent steak and sides, Strip House had a seasonable turkey dinner with all the trimmings. It was delicious! The service and ambiance were top notch, as always. They are worth the price when you want a memorable experience.
Dinner was a birthday occasion (2-people). I suggest making reservations because there were a lot of people coming and going. The seats for 2 were a bit cramped but the diners were near us were interactive and there were no bad vibes (actually shared a few laughs and took pics of other's desserts). The bacon strips are like a meal itself and I highly recommend it to be your first choice of appetizers. Service was great and although it can be quite busy, they try their best to tend to you. Ask your waiter the specials and recommendations; they're quite knowledgeable. We got the Tomahawk steak for 2- delicious and great in quantity and flavor. We had to bring a few pieces home because we couldn't finish it. Scallops come in 2 pieces but were definitely worth the taste. But really, we were here for the 24-layered chocolate cake; bigger than expected and not as sweet and/or heavy as I thought it would be. I usually don't like chocolate cake but THIS was heavenly. We ate the cake with their french press Ethiopian Natural coffee which was a great pair.
We signed up for a 7pm reservation, confirmed by Opentable, via their website. They told us they had us down for 8pm even though we showed them our confirmed reservation (stressing again, made via their website). We sat at the bar in a mainly empty dining room. 8pm passed and we were never even seated.
Except for the service and wine, our dinner was absolutely spectacular. Tuna sashimi was some of the best I've had. Steaks were flavorful, tender, and perfectly cooked. Sides of truffled cream of spinach and goose-fat potatoes rivaled the steak. Cheese cake with lime glaze was unbelievably good.
Service was very inattentive. After taking our food order, our waiter disappeared. We had to waive down another waiter to place our wine order, which did not arrive until we were half way through our main course. The substitute waiter talked us into a $90 bottle of Malbec, on the grounds that the $80 was not very deep or dry. Neither was the $90 bottle. I've had better $20 bottles.
In sum, some of the best food around was matched by some of the worst service I've experienced in a high-end restaurant.
Good was good, service was off. Appetizer came out too fast, meal was on time ok. When we were done with our appetizer someone came by to give us the table next doors coffee. Our coffee came out later then our dessert. Tables too close to each other. Food was good.
They seated us more than 45 minutes after we arrived on time for our dinner reservation. This used to be my favorite restaurant but not anymore after how we were treated by the hostesses. They made it clear they don't value customers. Very sad to see such a great place decline like this.
Very old school steakhouse vibe, in a good way. The service was wonderful, very attentive at all times. The chocolate cake cannot be overstated. It's bigger than you realize and worth the calories. My only complaint was the temperature, it was so cold inside both of us kept our jackets on.
