Strega Waterfront Ratings and Reviews
My trip to Strega waterfront was perfect from start to finish. We arrived early and had a drink in the bar area. The bar area is awesome and the waitress was great. We then sat at our table (our reservation was ready and waiting) and got immediate attention. The food was great, the staff was great and I can’t wait To go back!
Overall very satisfied except we thought our meals were good--not excellent--especially for the price. The surf and turf I ordered was too heavy on red sauce and the lobster stuffing was not good. meat was good. Service was excellent and our after drinks at bar was excellent as was the service there too
Seated near the hostess station. Phone ringer was set at an ungodly loud volume. Service was very good. Food also very good, but pricey enough to make me question the value. I had requested through Open Table for a special dessert for my wife’s birthday but nothing was done. Fine enough experience but I won’t be racing to return.
The restaurant was not at all full but the sadistic hostess passed many comfortable-looking tables for 4 and showed us to an uncomfortable banquette right next to a raucous table of seriously drunk millennials. We learned to lip read in order to talk to each other. The food was good, reliable Italian. No surprises either positive or negative. The wine list was massive as if their wine steward had no idea what might be a good wine so just bought everything he could find that would command a price over $100. I would guess that among the hundreds of red wines fewer than 1 in 10 were offered at less than $100. Wine and liquor are the most profitable part of Strega’s business and looking at this rediculous wine list tells you why.
The place was almost empty (there were 3 tables of customers) and it took 30 minutes from the time we ordered our meals until it was served. One meal was completely wrong and had to wait another 10 minutes for his plate. The Caesar salad was vey bland. Honestly, this was one of the worst lunches I have had in a long time.
Party of 5, business dinner w clients. 7:15pm reservation. Staff was amazing, was able to pivot with little notice to bring us a champagne toast. We decided wanted to share dishes so we could try everything we liked and they adapted to serve us family style. Definitely a great pace that we’ll be returning to.
We have dined at Strega Waterfront many times. The food is quite good here, but the one issue I have is the absolute perfunctory service. This has been consistent throughout my experiences dining here. Waiters seem to want to rush you in and rush you out. Waiters also seem to be put off when my wife orders an appetizer as her main course. What can I say? She's a small eater and she has a favorite. I totally understand. It's all about the table turnover and the revenues but at least this could all be done with a few more smiles and pleasantries. If I'm going to spend good money for a dining experience, that's what I want. I want to relax and enjoy my time out and unfortunately Strega Waterfront finds this kind of customer difficult to please. Sorry to have to say this to an otherwise fine dining establishment.
We had a reservation for 7pm and arrived at 6:55. At 7:30 we had to ask the receptionist again about our table because we had not been seated yet. They then seated us at the tiniest table that had clearly just been thrown on the end of an actual dining area. We were clearly in people’s way and our waitress did not show up. After 10 minutes of sitting there and being in the way we just left.
We have visited Strega every Christmas Eve for last 7 years as Strega has become our family’s Christmas Eve tradition since moving to Ma. We also visit frequently during the year, and have always loved the overall experience. Tonight the experience was really sub par, we had a 6:30 reservation and didn’t get seated to till almost 7:00, the food and ambiance were very much what we had become accustomed to dining at Strega unfortunately service was barely adequate (poorly paced and impersonal) which is far below what we expect from Strega restaurants. Really disappointing considering the Strega reputation and price.
It was more expensive than I expected, but the service and food was exceptional so they provided value. The waiter knew the wine list and was able to make suggestions. The menu has a lot of great options for any palate. Food was outstanding, cooked to perfection. We had several food allergies at the table and each meal came correctly prepared. Highly recommend.
My boyfriend takes me to Strega Waterfront for my birthdays and Valentines Day. This year it was his 30th so I figured I would take him to "Our Spot." We bought tried something new to eat and they were both a great choice. I have never had anything I didn't like here. Every time we go the food gets better and better. The service is great too. They let you take your time to eat and chat and they don't bother you much. I actually felt like I was bothering our waiter. My boyfriend's eye was bothering him from work. We had to make our night out quick so we could go to the hospital. However, its usually a good two hour night out there between eating dinner and hanging out at the bar for a couple of drinks after dinner.
I of course will be there back in February!
My food was just ok. My husband's food had to be sent back. It was inedible due to an extreme taste of lemon rind. Instead of making a new dish they took the seafood out and replaced the pasta. We know this because a scallop was half eaten before sending back and then when the dish came back, the half eaten scallop was there. One would think at such a fine dining establishment they would make a whole new dish. Not impressed at all. Been here before and to the original, we were fans, but no more.
Went in for lunch -- we got the cheeseburger and chicken parm sandwich. both were good. Burger was on small side and came fries and some chopped lettuce and a tomato slice - looked more like a side salad than burger accompaniments, but no dressing. It was a pleasant.
A regular to the Strega family of restaurants for years. Have also had the occasion to meet and speak with Mr. Varano and have met and spoken with Chef Sal Firicano many times when he was working at Nico's. Food has always been very good. Service varies from fair/excellent. Recently had a special dinner on Friday (12-1-17), at The Waterfront, with my wife + two friends. We have dinner together, every year, as our way of celebrating Christmas and our long friendship. We had reservations for four for three+ weeks in advance.
1) Food choices excellent
2) Prices high, higher than previous visits to this location, much higher than historically found at Strega - Hanover St. and at Nico's.
3) Waiter was very impersonal and dry. He did make a good suggestion when one of our party was comparing two seafood dishes as to which would be better, and it turned out to be a good recommendation.
4) When he gave the "specials" (3) for the night, as we would later discover when we got our check, we realized he neglected to state any pricing. Perhaps an oversight, but important to our experience, nonetheless, as I will explain.
5) When we received the check, we were somewhat shocked at the overall cost. In looking at the detail of the check we saw that one dish, the "surf & turf" special had cost $85.00. Yipes, was that an unexpected surprise/shock.
6) I know, for fact, that if the waiter had stated the price of the entrees, I never would have ordered it!! I blame myself also for not asking, but in general, specials are usually priced somewhere within the price range typically found within the printed menu.
a) An overall lack of attentiveness from the wait staff and the waiter specifically. We received more attention from the young man filling our water glasses than anyone else and it seemed that he too was indirectly apologizing for any delays or inattentive service we were experiencing from the waiter.
