Strega Prime Ratings and Reviews
I wasn't quite sure what to expect because I have been to Strega in Northend and did not care for it. We were greeted by the staff and they were very nice and we were seated right away. Our server Lucy was the best, along with the popovers. The best popovers I ever had! Got bone in aged ribeye not great but my husbands steak was perfect.
We’ve driven by it many times and decided to finally give Stregas a go.
Having been to similar restaurants i.e. Grill 33, Cap Grill, Delfriscos, Abe and Louie’s many times etc. and now to Stregas, 1st visit, Stregas would be the lowest in terms of food and service quality.
Our waiter wasn’t very attentive, bus service was slow. We were done with our 1st course for some time yet the empty plates were not removed for a very long time.
My wife’s salad was ok my clam chowder was hot, but bland.
For the main course my wife’s haddock was very good whike the spinach side was bland.
My on the bone dry aged sirloin was tough and very unremarkable in terms taste, our waiters recommendation.
Also, I had asked for a horseradish sauce, but that was not delivered with our food. Our waiter never checked on us to see how our food was. I finally had to flag him down for the sauce.
Without sounding like a broken record I would recommend any of the other places I mentioned above over Stregas. If I were left with no other choice I would still opt for some other restaurant.
Stregas disconnect between the high cost and lack of exceptional service for that cost, coupled with the rather disappointing quality(taste wise)of the food then my recommendation to others has to be you would better off not going there.
Date night. I made reservations through the Open Table app and requested a booth. When we arrived at our reservation time we were told there were no booths available. Why make a reservation then? This was my first time there and we were already aggravated to have to sit in the bar area. After trying to adjust, a group of 2 couples sat a booth over from us and WOW were they loud and obnoxious! The big mouth of the group must have a company or car dealership near by because management was all over their table. They were brought multiple bottles of wine and the restaurant managers even enjoyed a toast and glass of wine with the group. Oh well.
Our steaks were good even though over cooked. There weren’t many options to pick for sides. The pop-overs were cold. The waitress and assistant waiter were nice but they should all wear tuxedo outfits. The highlight of this dinner date was the $75 bottle of wine. Don’t waste your money on this restaurant. It’s not worth the prices.
Food was great except my appetizer. I ordered the steamed mussels and they were so sandy & gritty that I couldn't eat them. I sent them back and got a salad instead. Rest of the meal was yummy. The dessert menu was not very inspiring given the fall season. The usual fare; creme brulee, chocolate cake, etc. But just as well. The wine list was excellent but really pricey. I don't mind paying $35 for an entree but not for a single glass of wine.
Kind of loud on a very busy night. Service was good and very professional as expected. Food prices in alignment with other local high end restaurants. Wine prices seemed higher than these same establishments. They do not allow patrons to bring their own wine even with a corkage fee.
Love this place, from the Frank Sinatra movies playing on the TV's to the old world Hollywood décor, famous faces look at you from the walls. Great bar, excellent wine list. Steaks are amazing and the fish was fabulous. Desserts were stunning as well as delicious. Staff well trained, no rush to give up table. Welcoming and friendly waiters. Parking easy!
Made a reservation for Strega as a date night with my husband as we are expecting our first child and know date nights will be difficult in the near future!! Requested a booth and was told by the host when we got there it will be about 10 min for a booth. Fine we waited then the manager came over informed us that she lied it will probably be 40 minutes so we said we will sit wherever. We proceed to sit down at the high tops in the bar then a waitress comes over and says no you can’t sit there there’s someone already sitting there. Ok?awkward. So we get up and proceed to the dining room and sit at a relatively large table without any menus for the first 10 minutes. We order drinks from our server who then proceeded to take a party of 12 at the same time. My husband begins to get annoyed as we are now ready to order, I’m waiting to ask about specials and our server is tending to the party of 12 taking their drink order. 20 minutes go by at least, other servers are staring at us knowing we are getting ignored and it appeared as though our server took the party’s drink over, waited at the bar for the bartender to make all their drinks, returns with their drinks and begins taking their order before even acknowledging us again. We felt so uncomfortable and annoyed with the such bad service ( especially seeing other wait staff notice but no one saying anything) that we got up and left and went to Davios. I was so disappointed since I love Strega and now will never return. By the way this was 730 on Friday night and the restaurant was not even that busy, maybe others have experienced the same.
It was our anniversary, and we knew it was going to be very expensive. I had the dry rub ribeye steak. This was the BEST steak I've ever tasted. I can only describe it as an out of body experience (at $47.00 for the steak only this better have been good). I was not expecting that each item was priced individually, including the steak sauce, but such is the life of the rich & richer. But over all it was a very memorable treat.
My wife and I came here for our anniversary. We got engaged near the seaport location and wanted to bring Strega back into our lives to celebrate the special day. We couldn’t have been more pleased
The dinner was fantastic and the service by Mike T was top notch. We had the pleasure of meeting Joe Esposito, the VP of the company to ensure our dinner was great. We were treated to a complimentary anniversary dessert and limoncello. It was this very thoughtful over the top service that will keep us coming back.
Thank you to the entire Strega team that made our special night that much better
Great wait staff providing premium personalized attention that made the business meal very purposeful and enjoyable. We ordered a couple of dark chocolate desserts and they took the initiative to split it among the 5 of us on individual plates. Very thoughtful and proactive.
Beautiful restaurant. Service was fine but they could work on hosting and seating. I didn't find the hostess they had that night was friendly.
We went for our son 18th birthday dinner, a party of 12. And the did well accommodating us. Food was great too.
Would definitely go back
First time there to celebrate an occasion. Was in it worried when I saw some of the latest reviews on service. Well it was somewhat true. Waited 10 to 15 mins for a server to come over and ask about drinks. After that is was i would say just ok until the end and waited for another 15 min while she yacked it up with another woman server. Food was awesome and went there in stead of Flemings in town cause it was closer and bigger variety. I think the severs need to up there game for the price but can t say enough about the food. Also it was not busy for a Friday night
My wife and I tried Strega Prime for the first time for our 45th anniversary. Although it is, in my opinion, an expensive restaurant with an extensive high priced wine list, the food, wine, and the outstanding service of our waitress, Sonia, and the wait staff that accompanied her made the evening very enjoyable and memorable. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions and will be back in the future for such an occasion. A must try restaurant!
Our second visit, and again, well worth it. The two appetizers were excellent, as was my wife's salmon. Unfortunately, I found the poached lobster to be mediocre--the lobster itself was not sweet (which is always a risk with lobster) and the poaching sauce was quite bland. However, when I expressed my disappointment, I was very impressed by their response: two free desserts and two free limoncello after-dinner drinks. So although Strega is expensive, the atmosphere is elegant, the service superb, and we will certainly go back.
