I emailed the restaurant after I had my dinner with my fiancee. It was a special occasion celebrating her new job and I left a message prior on Open Table detailing to have a creme brulee for desert and having writing on it that said Congratulations, but it was never brought out. It was disappointing because I wanted to surprise her and also it was a very special moment for her so I was a bit annoyed. The food was obviously phenomenal.

Food was absolutely delicious. Pricey, but the ambiance plus food explains the price.... and it's nice once in a while to treat yourself to a high-end restaurant. Was a little disappointed at having the last table in the back corner of the restaurant... until the night went on and things got louder and busier (not in a bad way, just noticeable). We were able to enjoy a long, leisurely conversation with our friends for an extended period of time -- over dinner and drinks, then coffee and dessert. Great night, great food -- will be back again!

We went to Straga Prime for restaurant week, with our 9 yo. We got the restaurant week menu, and a wedge salad + the giant meatball from the regular menu for the kid. The food was absolutely delicious - though I wish they had an actual kid's menu. The beef carpaccio was wonderfully dressed, the meat was melting in the mouth, so much flavor! The kid finished all too, totally into the food. We had some poppers as bread, before the food came, very good.
The only bad mark: we were kind of forgotten... We reserved, but had to wait some 10' or so - this happens, no big deal. Then we were brought to a table where a waitress said she has it reserved for somebody else - do we were brought back to the Host. Then we wait, and are eventually brought to the SAME table afer another 15'. And then we waited ... another 30' until somebody asked if we were taken care of! Meanwhile, we had water and poppers, but were close to point to be ready to leave.

We were there for Restaurant Week (Dine Out Boston). In contrast to other participating restaurants, Strega doesn't add an upcharge for their premium menu items like steak. They offer a delicious menu for the fixed price and we had wonderful service from our waiter. Highly recommend this restaurant, especially on Restaurant Week!

Food quality wise, not great. We were expecting better for a prime steak house. The decor was distasteful from the moment we walked in - fake flowers randomly poked into a plant bucket. What really bothered us was their serving time of dishes. We felt like we didn’t get to enjoy our plates before the next course came so we had the scramble to find room on our table to fit our next course. It was a bit frustrating. Our waitress and help staff were very nice though.

The food was absolutely delicious from the appetizer, salad and entrée and desert. The service could have been better. Felt as though we were profiled for not looking as though we came from money. The waiter socialized with everyone around us but not us and it was my birthday and we were never asked if we were there for a special occasion.

Went to Strega's for lunch on a Friday. Although the restaurant was full the wait staff were attentive. Waiter offered suggestions when asked, water glasses were kept full, plates and silverware removed promptly, food cooked perfectly.

The atmosphere here is warm and elegant. The staff is amazingly accommodating and friendly. We were seated promptly for our reserved table and afforded plenty of time to view the menu and make our selections. Everything we ordered from appetizers to dessert was fantastic and cooked to perfection. The warm popovers served just before our appetizers were incredibly good. Giovanni our host server catered to our every need and at no time during our two hour stay did we ever feel rushed.
The menu is a little pricey but with the quality of the meal and the exceptional service it is a great place to go for a special occassion , as we did.
I very much look forward to returning there soon.

Went there for lunch with a few friends during Restaurant Week. We all had the twin filets w mashed and asparagus. The ceaser salad and the strawberry shortcake were excellent too.
Our waitress Lisa was very attentive and friendly. She made us feel at home.

Thank you for a great meal.

Service was outstanding - we had Lynn who we learned was their last "original" hire - she was fantastic! Great service, interesting wine recommendation and very attentive without being overbearing - a true service professional. The food was fantastic - we did not realize it when we booked the reservation that it was "Dine Out Boston" so we actually spent more on wine than food! The meal was terrific as you would expect at a nice (and expensive) restaurant.
My only complaint for the evening was the valet parking....Sunday night and the valet had every spot near the door blocked off even though only two cars had used the valet - I just don't like other people in my car...don't force my wife and I walk a long way on a cold night so you can support the valet...not everyone wants that. My exchange with him was not good and it will make me think twice about returning - tell the Valet not to take so many spots and not to be so aggressive with the customers who don't want someone else in their car.

I was also impressed that the manager stop by to clean up later to and the entire team pitched in.
It's teamwork and quality and delicious food that really made this very special day for us.

Second visit to the restaurant, overall good experience but not perfect.
Waitstaff were decent but had at least 3 different staff asked us "what occasion are we celebrating?"
I get that it's a habit for some restaurants that feel they are "special" and therefore anyone who visits them must be having some kind of special event but seriously, once is enough.

Overall food was great but chowder was slightly over seasoned or had reduced under temperature during the course of the day...

Would come back but am hopeful that some fine tuning will occur.

Food was perfectly prepared, staff was at your call but not overbearing, and although one table was a little loud it didn’t impact our evening. We were very impressed with everything. I didn’t give a perfect score on value because it was a little pricey, however, overall it was absolutely worth every penny !!!

Strega had a great menu offering a variety of prime meats as well as Italian choices. Nice touch to start off with a popover. My ribeye was cooked perfectly and well-marbled. My friend enjoyed the steak au poivre that looked generous and delicious. I liked the vibe of the place and enjoyed the big half moon booths. Bo9th our server and backserver worked well together.

Strega is a classic high end steak house featuring prime cuts of beef. We started with martini's (which were perfect) and the beet salad and mixed greens. Both were elegant and flavorful. Now for the main event the steak. I had the prime sirloin done medium and it was perfect with great flavor and seasoning. The wife had her favorite with the prime 12 oz filet done medium. The sides, which we had Yukon gold whipped potatoes and the exotic mushrooms were done nicely and made great side dishes. All in all, Strega, is a great place to eat steak but remember with all high end places, Bring your wallet!

The food and service was excellent. My wife’s lamb chops were over cooked but they corrected the mistake and offered an appetizer or something else to hold her over until her meal was ready - we declined. They brought over a complimentary dessert for our troubles and both the waitress and Manager apologized for the mishap. All good in the end.

Service is always top-notch. Food is appropriately priced for what you'd expect at top-notch restaurant. My lobster bisque was $11, which was tasteful. Since we've been going around 2011/2012 though, we have noticed a decline or change, perhaps due to rising food costs and/or popularity.

Pros: Quality food. Top-notch service. Easy access for a great restaurant near boston. Varied menu for all.

Cons: Too 'busy'. I felt congested and crowded as if it was a chain restaurant, not an intimate dinner. The room we were in for 2-people was crowded, lacking in privacy and intimacy. The table was small, barely fitting our water, drinks and plates, never mind a soup/salad or empty items to be picked up. I recommend those going request specifically the seating you deserve, not just making a reservation. Not to be pick either, but my wife and I dressed up for a nice night out, whereas many people walked in like they were shopping at a grocery store. While you pay upwards of $250 for a couple (tip included), most didn't dress it, and the hustle/bustle of it all seemed to indicate that isn't what this night is out for.

All in all, I probably wouldn't be going back for a while or I'd go during an off time visit so we can have a more intimate, less noisy setting. I think the service is wonderful, the food is great, but of all the top-notch restaurants near boston, I see very few advertising in such a massive way as to almost position like a chain restaurant.

Overall very good. all four of us got steaks and all different ones. My request for medium rare came back a bit purple so I asked for one more minute with warm red center. It came back pink and what I would consider medium. They would have redone it but I was concerned my guests wanted to wait for me and it was still tasty. Atmosphere and service were quite good but prices were definitely on the high end.
