Best meatball EVER !!
Most amazing italian food i have had since Italy. The gnocchi and Sea Bass was spectacular. Others at our table had the Stega fettucini-lots of cream sauce and thick homemade noodles (yum), the sole with shellfish -delish and the shortribs with lobster risotto- a new take on surf and turf. Everything was cooked to perfection and the serving sizes were just right - except we couldn’t finish the fetticini- it was very rich.
The decir was very modern with lots of cool pictures of the owners with well known celebrities. The Godfather movies were playing silently on several screens against one wall.
Great service and great food.
Carlo was awesome
Everything we ordered was above expectations
This place is one I always make sure to go to when I’m Boston. The meatballs are to die for. Excellent staff!
Excellent food and service. Could not as for a better dining experience . Next time we’re in Boston we’ll be back.
Valet parking was easy and a must in this neighborhood. Service was excellent. Food choices were plenty and everyone enjoyed their meal....that is rare. Smaller than I thought it was going to be, but enough space in between tables to make privacy not an issue. Unlike many restaurants in this area.
Delicious food, loved the vibe. Old school Italian. However our waiter seemed a bit anxious to hurry us along that was noticeable and he was not as attentive as he should have been, for instance we had to refill our wine glass from the bottle of wine we ordered.
Fabulous food, atmosphere and service. We have been to this restaurant several times. It's our favorite among all the Strga restaurants. When the weather is warm they open the entire front of the restaurant so you can enjoy Hanover Street. Can't wait to go again.
There was 12 of us at one table. They took extremely good care of us. The food was amazing. I’d eat there every day if I could.
Great meal, better service...good casual atmosphere
Strega was wonderful as always. Invited friends from Montana and Oklahoma who were impressed with Strega “experience”. Gianni made the evening even more special. Five stars all around.
Crowded, loud, fun overall though. Food good but probably won’t go back given plenty of ‘better than good’ options in the North End.
The food here was absolutely delicious. Easily some of the best Italian food in the North End. I got the ravioli and my girlfriend got the chicken marsala. I liked how the red sauce had whole garlic cloves and cherry tomatoes mixed in with the San Marzano tomatoes. The ravioli was cooked perfectly; it was like eating little pillow clouds of ricotta. Both meals were 5/5 stars without a doubt.
However, the noise level and crowd in the restaurant ruined the experience a bit. We were seated right by the door where all of the hungry patrons were waiting to be seated. Needless to say they were eyeing our food and I didn't appreciate feeling like I was being watched as I ate. Not to mention, every time the door opened we had to suffer the wind chill. We had planned on sitting and taking our time but ended up feeling rushed out by the crowd who seemed to be impatiently awaiting our departure.
The service was excellent and the food came out quickly. The server also suggested a really nice wine to pair with our meals. No complaints there.
We had a reservation at 7 and showed up at 7:05 but ended up waiting an hour to be seated anyway. They were backed up due to a large party which is fine. The food was well worth it.
I'd definitely come back but maybe not at primetime on a Saturday night. We will be back.
Food was delicious. Love the old school vibe with the classic movies playing throughout dinner. No accommodations to how food is prepared if you're trying to eat healthy. Clearing the table of our dishes and we were barely done was the only negative- but the overall experience was still very good.
We had a small table in a high traffic area. We were bumped all night. I know they are making the most of their square footage but the experience is lost when you feel like a sardine.
Our calamari, lobster ravioli and bolognese were very good. Waiter was excellent. Wine was delicious and generous portion.
The veal marsala was such a disappointment. It was tender and the mushrooms lovely but it was seriously under seasoned (I am not generally a fan of too much salt) I think the chef forgot the marsala—it was bland like baby food.-no exaggeration.
Tiramisu and espresso was also very good.
Overall friendly and delicious early dinner. I would come back
This was our first time here and we will return. The seafood appetizer was spectacular - lightly fried shrimp, scallops, and calamari with a balsamic glaze. I ordered the sea bass which was a massive portion. The gnocchi was so light. Our waiter was quite funny as well. Worth a trip!
Attentive service and delicious food as usual!
We went to Strega for my daughter's 20th birthday, we were 20 minutes early and they seated us right away. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable, the food was amazing, and the price was reasonable. The wrong birthday cake was delivered and they sent someone running to Modern Pastry for a new one. We will definitely be back!
We had a reservation for 9:30 pm, and weren’t seated till 10. The hostess seated multiple couples who walked in after us before seating my fiancé and I, despite the fact that we all had the same reservation. It was clear that they overbooked. They sat us at the worst table possible, so we couldn’t even face each other. The only good thing about the night was the food. I reccomend going anywhere else, unless you’re willing to slip the hostess money to get you seated quicker.
Tremendous Food, great ambiance, and a truly remarkable staff. The food was amazing, but I was a bit underwhelmed by the portion size.
Nevertheless, always a great experience and I couldn't recommend Strega enough!
Good - food was great.
We had an early reservation so it wasn’t very busy. Everything we ordered was delicious, from the mushroom ravioli, calamari, and bolognese. Portion sizes are a good size for sharing.
I asked our server, Carlo, to "give us the works." He took our menus away and then piloted us to a fantastic tour of the best of Strega. It was a fantastic meal and the atmosphere was wonderful. I highly recommend the restaurant and our server.
A little overcrowded and tight. The food and service were good though.
Went to the Hanover st. location. 3 of us went for a friends birthday. Everything about it was fabulous. Would definately go back and request Carlo as our waiter. He made the experience better.
Underwhelmed. Average food. Presentation weak. Atmosphere bright and service hanging around in groups chatting and on phone. Service not knowledgeable on menu and actually said “I don’t know this place cause I work at the other Strega normally”. Lots of choices in the North End and Boston. Strega clearly has become complacent.
Amazing food, slightly gaudy but the food makes up for it.
Had a fantastic time with my boyfriend for his bday. He enjoyed the lobster ravioli a lot, and LOVED the cucumber avocado salad. We had a great experience, and was reasonably priced.
Great food! Great service! Just very very loud, hard to have a quiet conversation when you can hear every conversation on going in restaurant.
Great atmosphere, the food & wine were excellent and the service fantastic. Love this place - makes my wife smile!
Strega was an excellent place to have dinner with our daughter who lives in Boston. The food was excellent, the service was good. The noise level was a bit high and the temperatures was TOO HOT. We asked the waiter if they could reduce the temperature and over time it got better, but my daughter was about to faint because it was so hot when we got there. Overall great food.
We didn't make our reservation till around 4:00 but they were able to make a spot for 6:30. We arrived at 6:30 and were seated in minutes. The service was quick, friendly, and food was awesome.
Best Italian food we had in Boston.. Service was perfect they did not rush you and everyone was happy to help you
Carlo is the best! Food is consistently outstanding
This is always one of our favorite restaurants to visit when in Boston. The staff makes you feel like you're family and the dinner is delicious. You feel like you're sitting down with friends cooking for you when you're here. Highly recommended when you're in the area!
Excellent food, and service. The waiter and wait staff were both informative and timely. The Merlot is smooth and addictive. The portions are very large, our appetizer, the Frittura Mista, could have easily been shared by 4. We actually ended up sharing the Zuppa Di Pescue it was so large (and so good) and took most of my Braciola/rigatoni home.
Mike’s Pastry is an easy walk - assuming you're not actually too stuff from an excellent dinner.
This is not the place for two to dine for $29.95.😊
Valet parking is a must. Or Uber/taxi.
Carlo and his team always make dining at Strega more than just dinner - everyone goes out of their way to ensure that your dining experience is terrific. The fact that the food - from appetizers through dessert - is spectacular, makes for a great date night for my wife and I, who's first date was over 30 years ago
