Strega North End Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food, and service. The waiter and wait staff were both informative and timely. The Merlot is smooth and addictive. The portions are very large, our appetizer, the Frittura Mista, could have easily been shared by 4. We actually ended up sharing the Zuppa Di Pescue it was so large (and so good) and took most of my Braciola/rigatoni home.
Mike’s Pastry is an easy walk - assuming you're not actually too stuff from an excellent dinner.
This is not the place for two to dine for $29.95.😊
Valet parking is a must. Or Uber/taxi.
Carlo and his team always make dining at Strega more than just dinner - everyone goes out of their way to ensure that your dining experience is terrific. The fact that the food - from appetizers through dessert - is spectacular, makes for a great date night for my wife and I, who's first date was over 30 years ago
Delicious food, particularly the seafood, but very garish decor and pretty unfriendly service for the States.
Had told them in advance we were celebrating a birthday and they brought a tiramisu with candle without asking, which was a lovely surprise until it appeared on the bill!
Theater ran late. I called to cancel 10 pm reservation. Web said they closed at 11 but they encouraged us to come and would accommodate us when we got there. We arrived at 10:45 and they made us extra at home, cooked for us "soup to nuts".
As everyone knows their food is tremendous. The boss picked me out a great wine to complement my carbonara. We rolled out past midnight. The place long emptied of other customers. Wow, shocked that we got the 5 star treatment after pushing them out so late. Practically every employee came to our table and made our visit first rate!! Strega is now our "go to" restaurant in the North End of Boston! Thanks Strega for perfectly completing a perfect day....a gift from our children.
It was New Years Eve. Strega had overbooked. It was crowded , loud, and they were 40 minutes late seating us with no where to stand, much less sit. It was early( 7:30) and just too many people hanging out waiting in too small of a venue. Food was good but service was delayed . Just too busy ....it was a poor choice of venue for that night, if I had known they were going to overbook the room , I would have chosen somewhere else.
We had a wonderful dinner for 6 on 12/30 and we’re pleasantly surprised by the experience. Not only was the food delicious and well-presented, but the service was warm and friendly. We never felt rushed which is key when you are catching up with family. Thank you!
This is a fantastic North End restaurant we happened upon a while ago via Open Table, when our previous favorite in the area was booked up. What a find! Fantastic food (large servings), wonderful and attentive service, and a great place to enjoy family and friends.
Too crowded and WAY too rushed. Sat down for 6 o’clock reservation and we were getting our check at seven. We were actually almost chugging the last of our bottle of wine as we were putting our coats on because wait staff and guests were hovering waiting for the table. Food was OK at best, nothing special and nothing to return for. Had the baked stuffed sole special with risotto, was not risotto, more like Basmati rice. When we got the bill, we could not believe that it was $42 for the sole dish! Never again!
Strega was cramped with blasts of cold air every time the door opened. No place to wait for a table and people standing over your table waiting to be seated. Service was very good and food was also very good but nothing spectacular compared to other restaurants in the area. Strega was just okay and will look for someplace with a little more atmosphere and not feel so rushed to turn the table.
A girls weekend in Boston and we were very intent on memorable dining experiences and this one did NOT let us down! The waitstaff was very solicitious, gracious in waiting as we talked trying to catch up before ordering, very eager to recommend dishes based on our interests, and paced the service so we were able to enjoy each course before tackling the next. Definintely recommend reservations! Look forward to trying another one of the restaurants in this group on a next visit to Boston!
They’ve squeezed too many tables into a room which is too small. Even taking into account that we had a Saturday reservation at 7:30 (not seated until 8:00), the place is too crowded and too noisy. The food and service were both very good however, so probably great either on a weeknight or before/after weekend prime times.
We arrived a few minutes early on a Saturday night and were seated right away in the corner table by the bathrooms. Not a good start to our dinner but asked our waiter to move us to a better location, they happily accommodated. The service and food were excellent; their special appetizer of fried calamari with shrimp and scallops in a balsamic glaze was delicious. Their crab and beet salads were another hit; we all really enjoyed. Dinner we had the stuffed fish with lobster and risotto special, grilled salmon and seafood Strega with homemade pasta; all were excellent. This is a great place - service and food are wonderful.
Very good food, excellent waiter service, educated staff on dining selections and wine selections.
Was definitely disappointed with one aspect of the evening.
I️ Uber was late making us 10 mins late and after calling they said they’d hold the table for 15 mins.
We arrived prior to 15 mins and they gave our table away and we had to wait 15-20 mins to be seated.
Assuming this was an isolated event.
We ate there before the Celtics game the other night and the service was very good. the waiter got us in and out timely but did not rush us. the food was very good. the pumkin squash raviolis were a big hit and I had the veal cachatori that I thought was very good. Wine as also very good.
definitely be back
