Street and Co. Ratings and Reviews
Great food, great service in a relaxed comfortable environment. We met friends who had never been there and they loved it. Our waiter was attentive without being cloying.
As we already knew it is loud in the restaurant, so we talked a little louder than normal.
All good! Our waiter also directed us to Bealls for some delicious ice cream!
This is a tale of two dinners....
The food was fantastic. The spouse had a Bolognese that was amazing, and my swordfish was perfectly done (although a bit smaller than the others I'd witnessed....luck of the draw). The appetizers were extraordinary. WIfe had beets with cheese on a green relish thing....sorry...and they were amazing. My soup...wild mushroom with parmesan had moments of complete perfection. It was truly amazing.
The downside was the worst waitress in years. She didn't seem to know the menu, had no thoughts on anything, didn't answer direct questions, and brought the wine halfway through the main course....after being asked. She was terrible and would have received a pretty light tip had it not been for the food.
We were placed in a back corner, and it literally felt as though all of the sound was running through that corner. A business dinner of 10 next to us was bad enough...but we literally had to scream to speak.
Great food....but the waitress and the noise will make me think twice about returning.
Great Food, Great Table service but really poor set up during the Cattle Call between opening at 5 PM and first reservations at 5:30 (which we had). Seems like management has little interest in taking care of waiting customer and can't transfer bar bill to table. Stood at bar for 5 minutes and the two bartenders/oyster shuckers totally ignored me despite only 3 people seated. Then took 10 minutes to get a waitress to take a cocktail order, despite the place being relatively empty. REALLY POOR management is the only explanation. Had to yell to be heard at dinner, but guess that is the new desired normal. Will come back, but only once per year for variety, as there are many other restaurants in Portland that are better run. I guess when you get so much money from tourist you'll never see again, you don't care about this stuff just the cash coming in.
Having dinner recently at Street & Co. was easily one of the best culinary experiences we've had in a while. The service was perfect, food extremely well presented and prepared, and the whole meal was just right. We loved everything about our experience. I wish this restaurant was in my town, not my favorite vacation spot!
The occasion was to celebrate an anniversary, and boy was it a great choice. It was kinda noisy but you were able to clearly hear right in front of you. Small areas and very intimate. We both sat with a clear view of the kitchen and meal preparation area and was so fun to watch. The wine selection is incredible, and don't get me started on the menu. If you want to take a max of 4 in my book in order to have a good time and able to enjoy yourselves. 5/5
Lived up to its reputation!! Excellent food, expertly prepared and served. My one observation was that the dining room was extremely hot with no ventilation. We chose not to order dessert for this reason. Otherwise, a memorable dining experience. Would highly recommend.
Simply the Best of Portland - Each and Every Time. This is our favorite restaurant in Portland. Excellent Food, Classy Style, Great Service, and an easy to find location right in the center of the tourist area. Street parking is tough but there are plenty of parking lots around so it becomes easy. You will not be disappointed here. Have the Lobster and Linguine with butter and garlic for a delectable treat you will not soon forget.
We all enjoyed our meal . The small bites were full of surprise to our taste buds . The octopus dish rivaled my fond memories of the Greek Isles . The lobster on linguine was quaintly served in a skillet straight from the kitchen and was garlicky ,buttery ,succulent and generous. Not to forget the scallops in Pernod cream sauce which my friend shared a bite with me they were sweet and tender to die for and I dream of coming back from California next summer just to reunite with them...
We had one night in Portland, ME and hoped for the best seafood dinner one could imagine. Street & Co. delivered!!! We had two appetizers (the crab with "sea beans" and a salad) before the main "act" arrived -- the lobster diavolo for two. This was, hands down, the BEST seafood dish either of us has ever had. Given the restaurant's unique location in a quaint brick building along a cobblestone alley, its warm and well-thought out romantic decor that evokes the feeling of an Old World eatery, the excellent service, and aforementioned fantastic food, we rank our entire experience eating there as one of the best dinners out ever. In fact, we'd almost fly back across the country to do it all over again. Yes, it's that good!
We were in Portland on vacation and tried for months to get in. When a last minute spot opened up, we were thrilled! The food was really good, but the service and ambiance were even better! And the cherry sour cream pie was to die for! I'd highly recommend.
Have eaten here twice now, each time was great. The small plates are perfect for trying a few different things at a really good value. Wanted to try the lobster diavolo for two since the first time I was all by myself. It was well worth the wait. Had oysters and wine as well that were amazing. On the expensive side, but not terribly so. Only regret is not having a big enough belly for dessert!
I'm an infrequent diner here going back about 15 years or so. But whenever I'm in Portland, I always make this restaurant my dining priority. (I would have given an additional star on service, but it was Mother's Day, and the restaurant was very, very busy. Another waitress would have been ideal, but I understand that such a day presents a particular challenge.)
Bottom line: I can't wait to head back for my next meal. (You can never go wrong with any of their seafood choices!)
This is a great restaurant, with absolutely lovely seafood. Very highly recommended. It's also quite crowded on a Friday evening in the spring, and our first table was situated next to a very noisy party that made it difficult to hear a conversation. Our servers were very understanding, and re-seated us immediately.
Ambience was good. Bar service, attentiveness and friendliness outstanding.
Waitress was attentive, knowledgeable and upbeat. I had the signature lobster over pasta with butter and garlic. Pasta and lobster were perfectly cooked. Amount of garlic over powered the meal and I like garlic.
I have heard so much about Street and Co and was thrilled to finally go there. The food was incredible. We decided to try a bunch of the appetizers (because they all looked so good!) and have salads. The atmosphere was lively and fun, the service friendly and efficient. All in all, a perfect evening.
Street & Company is always a delight. My husband usually gets one of the specials and has never been disappointed. I just have to get the superb Scallops in Pernod & Cream! Get the mussels as an appetizer and then dunk the fresh bread in the garlic & butter sauce - the best ever, just don't fill up on it! Our favorite Portland dinner spot. The only thing to consider is that there is not a non-seafood choice on the menu, so make sure everyone in your party is a seafood lover.
I don't recall ever before leaving a review like this. However, this restaurant was so outstanding I felt I should. Everything about the experience was as close to perfect as humanly possible - the food, the wine, the staff, the ambiance of the restaurant. Simply WOW. If you are a seafood person, when in Portland this restaurant is a must.
