Street and Co. Ratings and Reviews
We loved the romantic atmosphere in this local favorite, hidden away down the alley. Thoroughly enjoyed the duck pate “taste”. Had the octopus appetizer and loved the texture and smoky grilled flavor. First time trying octopus and my worst fears abated. The whole fish was tasty but seemed a bit salty and over cooked. However it had a rustic appeal with the veggies and broth it was served with.
I love the ambiance of Street and Company. Started off with some o tester and soup which were both excellent. Had the blackened halibut for the entree and was somewhat disappointed. It wasn't as flavorful as I would hope for however the dessert made up for it... pots de creme which was amazing! Service was great!
Street & Company has been a favorite of ours for years. The food is good, the decor is cozy if a bit loud at times, and the bar is a lot of fun. You just need to make sure you are okay with your seating; if you get caught near one of the serving areas, it is noisy and the traffic through there can be bad.
The evening was spoiled by the fumes and smoke wafting into our seating area - a constant haze along the ceiling. Our clothes stunk the next morning .
We have eaten here a number of times over the years and as usual enjoyed the food and the bustling atmosphere. Service was friendly but our entree was a long time coming.
Not sure we will be back.
Awesome dining experience. Amazing, amazing food. Great oysters, great salad and the Halibut was the best that I have ever had. Cooked to perfection. From a food standpoint I give it a 100 out of 100. The only slight knock on the place was the less than enthusiastic server. She seemed quite snooty and un interested.
We came here with friends for our anniversary and it was absolutely perfect! Our server who's name I can't remember was so attentive and helpful. For appetizers, we got oysters and mussels. The garlicky broth was to die for and perfect for dipping the crusty bread. Two of us ordered the sole francaise which was perfectly cooked in just the right amount of lemony buttery goodness. We also ordered the pan scallops in Pernod & cream...mmm so succulent and lastly a special of the night--blackened swordfish on a bed of celery root mash which my friend said was one of the best meals he's ever had. We all ordered the bourbon pecan pie for dessert which was just right. If you can get a reservation, Street & Co is a must!
We get to visit the capital eastern dinning, Portland Maine, 2-3 times per year and we stay 2 nights. The means we have to pick 2 restaurants among many great ones. One choice is always Street & Co. We are never disappointed. The food is orgasmic and the service is outstanding. The menu looks so simple yet the delivery is sublime. We always try to have one of the evening specials, but this time we had two of them and they were fantastic. Enjoy. If you can't get the time you want using Table, call Street & Co directly
Mussels Provencal appetizer portion so huge could have made a meal of it plus a salad. Next visit just go with appetizers as the portions are so large. Clams and linguini one of the diner's favorite...lots of clams and pasta abundanza. Shrimp with butter and garlic also loaded with pasta...too much to finish. Nice copper bottom serving pans kept meal nice and hot. Very busy place on the night before Thanksgiving.
The food was as always delicious! The seating can be a bit cramped but the servers do a great job negotiating the tables. With all the tables it can be very loud and hard to hear someone sitting across the table. But it is understandable and I am always happy to have a table!!!!!!
Sadly, I was totally underwhelmed. That's tough for me to say because up until now Street & Co has been my favorite restaurant in Portland. I don't know...I left a note on the Open Table app advising this was a birthday celebration for me and my best friend. We didn't hear a word about it. What's the point of leaving the information if they can't even wish us a Happy Birthday? Listen, I dropped about $220 + $45 tip. Money was no consideration. It's not good to spend that amount of money on a meal and feel like you haven't gotten your money's worth. Disappointing.
The fact that this restaurant in downtown Portland was super busy on a Tuesday evening speaks to it's ability to please. We had Lobster Fra Diavolo for two; the dish had a full lobster cut in half and tons of clams and mussels not to mention a spicy tomato broth over linguini. Totally excellent. Our server was excellent - involved just enough, not hovering but always showing up exactly when we needed something. Being a small space the noise level was a bit overwhelming at times but the high quality of the food and the service overshadow this minor imperfection.
Great food, great service in a relaxed comfortable environment. We met friends who had never been there and they loved it. Our waiter was attentive without being cloying.
As we already knew it is loud in the restaurant, so we talked a little louder than normal.
All good! Our waiter also directed us to Bealls for some delicious ice cream!
This is a tale of two dinners....
The food was fantastic. The spouse had a Bolognese that was amazing, and my swordfish was perfectly done (although a bit smaller than the others I'd witnessed....luck of the draw). The appetizers were extraordinary. WIfe had beets with cheese on a green relish thing....sorry...and they were amazing. My soup...wild mushroom with parmesan had moments of complete perfection. It was truly amazing.
The downside was the worst waitress in years. She didn't seem to know the menu, had no thoughts on anything, didn't answer direct questions, and brought the wine halfway through the main course....after being asked. She was terrible and would have received a pretty light tip had it not been for the food.
We were placed in a back corner, and it literally felt as though all of the sound was running through that corner. A business dinner of 10 next to us was bad enough...but we literally had to scream to speak.
Great food....but the waitress and the noise will make me think twice about returning.
