Wonderful service, preparation and food. Very inventive cuisine presented in pans it was cooked in.
Great yellowfin tuna! The morel mushroom appetizer was to die for!
We went to Street & Co. on a Tuesday evening, which was nice since it was quiet. We got good service (bread and water always full). The menu had a good selection. The food was well-prepared and came out with good timing between courses, fresh and hot. My only criticism is that some things ran a bit salty (but that's find dining, correct?). All in all, we had a nice dinner.
Only criticism is the noise level. Food and service were top-notch, but even in what could have been a quiet, out if the way corner, it was difficult to converse.
Our Dinner was unbelievable. the only issues were sitting close to kitchen and the smoke from cooking was hurting my eyes. And it was really loud in the kitchen because it was open to dining room. The staff were very professional in the kitchen as well as on the dining floor. It was great to watch the kitchen and to see the ballet that they do to prepare everyone's meals. The food was outstanding, delicious and savory!!! Great Job to ALL the STAFF at Street and Co.!!!!
We were terribly disappointed. 2 out of our three meals were over salted. Additionally, we found that tuna does not make a good bolognese and I thought my monkfish entree to be rather small for what it cost. A vegetable on the side or a starch would have been been nice.
Always consistent! Staff is great. We’ll be back again!
Street and Company has the perfect ambience for a good winter meal. Most of the food was excellent, but a few dishes were way too salty. Chefs have to learn to lighten the use of the salt shaker.
We had a reservation and we were on time for it, but were ushered into the lounge to wait for our table. We were seated after about a 10-12 min wait, at a vet busy take area near these kitchen. It was okay, but very loud, which was also okay but not amazing. Oysters were very good, but there were broken bits if shell. Again, not the end of the world but I shuck oysters at home without including broken shells so I do expect better when in out to dinner in Portland. Service was fantastic! Entrees were solid, no complaints but it wasn't amazing either. We ate at Scales last wk, and would likely return there before coming back to Street & Co for awhile.
Overall satisfying meal but not outstanding. Service was ok. Mussels were good, but bread crumbs were distracting, beet salad was awesome. Pollack special was bland but fish cooked well. Shrimp and pasta was very salty and way too much garlic. Shrimp cooked well. Desserts were light and tasty- budino and creme Carmel. Drinks were good as well. Very loud and crowded, but service moves along. We were hoping for more... good experience but not what we were hoping.
I have been to this restaurant at least 20 times. The seafood entrees are particularly amazing and exceptionally well prepared. Service is very professional. The restaurant is VERY cautious and conscientious shell fish allergies.
Best restaurant in Portland!
The grilled octopus, raw oysters, and Arctic char were all amazing. The service was great. The only downside was the close proximity of the tables. It’s almost communal. The wait staff was attentive but had to constantly navigate between tables which was disruptive. Still, don’t let that stop you. The food is excellent and well worth a few elbow bumps.
Amazing food and service was out of this world! Thank you Street & Co for a truly unforgettable evening!
In general, the food is normally very good here but this time our grilled lobsters were undercooked and we had to have a debate with the waiter and ‘prove’ that shiny, clammy lobster is not fully cooked. They took it back and grilled them more but it detracted from the meal.
For seafood lovers only!!! Nothing else on the menu. Not a beef or chicken dish to be found. That's not a complaint (we've been here before and knew that going in). Made reservations a few weeks ahead (highly recommended). Fresh oysters, awesome crust bread. Salads were great (mushroom salad and head lettuce salad) We both got "over linguine" dishes. Shrimp with tomatoes and capers w/fresh basil was OK. Loved my countneck clams in white sauce which looked like (lots of) garlic, oil and some stone ground mustard w/fresh basil. Linguine dishes come with a lot of pasta. Desserts were OK. A little underwhelming.
Great ambiance, food delicious. Wait staff over worked., need another waitress not bus person to lighten the load. Meals were expensive yet very good but we did not see our waitress much.
Food was outstanding - four different entrees and all were happy. Service was topnotch.
Excellent, as always
Our favorite Portland restaurant. Can't beat the sole francaise! I ordered the scallops in the pain with pernod-delicious.
Street and Company is one of the best Seafood Restaurants in Portland Maine. They have great service and the food is consistently excellent. A great menu with a number of selections for every palate. The Sole Francaise - Haricot Verts - Red Bliss Potatoe is my favorite. The Halibut as well is very good. They have a small but very nice oyster selection and the Dodge Coves we had were some of the best oysters I have ever had. We only get to Portland two or three times a year but we always stop a Street and Company. A very good wait and bar staff that takes care of their customers. They are one of our favorite restaurants in Portland I hope will give them a try you won't be disappointed.
Food was exceptional ... the scallops w/pernod sauce was one of the BEST meals out I've ever had and we eat out and many nice places, all over the US and globally. Appetizers of smoked char salad and anchovy toast were exceptional and the special of the day, fluke with mussels and chorizo that my other half had was also very good. Presentation in the pan the dinners were actually cooked in made for a big lift to this review, the only negative was that service was slow (it was New Year's Eve so to be expected, no big deal) but this is the second time we've been there and the noise level in the restaurant is almost concert level ... a big drawback but one that you can overlook if you just want to concentrate on the amazing food!
Street and Co. is always reliable and consistent with food and service every time we have visited. Our server was friendly and knowledgable. There is no doubt that Street and Co. deserves its well-received reputation for quality. We will be back.
Many times throughout the years we have been to Street and Company, both for business and personal.
In this case personal and didn't disappoint, food, service and ambiance.
First time in Portland; Street & Co. was definitely a highlight. The food was amazing. Honestly, some of the best I’ve had. The staff was lovely & very attentive. The ambiance was very warm & inviting. I would recommend & will go again if I’m ever in Portland again. 😊
We decided on a pre Christmas celebration and couldn’t have picked a better spot. The mussels are amazing and the meals incredible which went along with friendly service and atmosphere. Great experience and we will be back for more.
Wonderful atmosphere, amazing food and great service. We had fresh oysters, anchovy toast, sole francaise, Arctic char, and a fantastic bottle of Puligny Montrachet. It was our best meal of the year!
Three members of our party ordered the Sole Francais, which was served in an extremely well seasoned and unappealing sauté pan, unsteadily perched on a trivet to protect the table from the extremely high temperature. The dish was served with the skin on, which was soggy and unappealing. Once removed, the sole was tasteless. Two steamed red potatoes were added to the pan, not browned or flavored with any herbs... visually boring and flavorless. The sautéed green beans were the star of the show.
On a separate note, I was directed to a downstairs bathroom by staff, since the one upstairs was occupied. It was nothing short of disgusting. I suggest that management place signs in both the bathrooms, reminding people to place the seat down after using the toilet. Two others at our table found the condition of the bathrooms on par with a low end barroom rather than a higher end restaurant.
The decor in the dining room was very festive for the holidays, and the building itself is among Portland’s coziest. The service was outstanding.
The Grilled whole Lobster over Linguine was fabulous, cooked to perfection! Our server Tom cracked for me which allowed me to really enjoy! My husband had Sole Francaise , he said it was exquisite. We are going back before our Christmas vacation ends on the the 29th!
Have visited the restaurant for many years and liked when he menu had choises fir blackened , grilled or baked. Menu felt more restricted this time than before.
Best fish we’ve had anywhere in Portland! We’ve eaten many times at Street & Co over the years, but the tuna was the best we remember and the bluefish special was fabulous!
It is always a treat to visit Street & Co., one of Portland's finest restaurants. The seafood dishes are always great and you certainly get the feeling that you are dinning in a special place with great ambiance and service.
The food and service were very good. The noise level was high, so much so that my wife and I couldn't carry on a conversation. The parties next to us and across from us very loud, sometimes yelling.
took 7 minutes to get someone to ask us if we wanted a drink. Once they stated waiting on us - the experience was awesome. Food is some of best in Portland.
Fantastic as always; some of the best seafood I've ever had!
Food was delicious.
Loved the meal. Will visit once it opens again
Charming spot with amazing food and service.
Blackened swordfish was delicious!
