Straight Wharf Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I made a reservation for 4 overlooking the harbor 3 months ago for a special occasion. The other couple got sick and unable to attend. I called to notify the restaurant and they were grateful that I called. I asked for a view of the harbor. When we arrived we got stuck in the nosiest table in the restaurant, next to a back service station not over looking the harbor. I asked to be changed but they could not accommodate us.
Straight Wharf restaurant on Nantucket offers fresh seafood and beautiful water views. On this occasion, we sat outside which was lovely! We each ordered a fluke crudo appetizer to start. It was surprisingly small which was disappointing. For our entrees, we each ordered the sirloin steak, and it was asolutely delicious! We ordered our dessert with the meal because it takes a long time to prepare it. It was a scrumptious peach galette! Even the crust was amazing! However, we sat waiting for it to arrive for more than 25 minutes after finishing our main course, and I am a very slow eater!
The server also took way too long to give us our check.
We do recommend this restaurant although the service was slow and the appetizers were too small.
Simply and totally delicious, great service, wonderful ambiance. The best "simple greens" salad I have ever eaten, makes you remember what greens are supposed to taste like. Yummy fish, and complimentary pate and bread. So many Nantucket restaurants are $$$$, but Straight Wharf was a perfect value.
Our dinner at Straight Wharf was our favorite during our stay on Nantucket. Their menu is enticing and each course is artful and more importantly, delicious. The servers were gracious and skilled without hovering. The little extra touches that are provided elevated the experience too.
In a town with many fine restaurants, this is one of the best. The food is inventive and delicious. The wine list is perhaps the best in town and we were given excellent suggestions. The service is top-rate and attentive. This would be a top choice for a special evening out.
The Best on ACK. Food is delicious, ambience is Perfect Nantucket, and the sommelier (Yevva) made us feel we had won the lottery with service, cuisine, and expertise. SWR is at the top of its game and I can't wait for the game to keep getting better and more interesting!!!!
One of our favorite Nantucket restaurants. Food and service are amazing The specialty is the clambake which is always on the menu and a must have. Also, the fruit gallet which you need to order when you first place your order and is always a perfect dessert to share. Made with seasonal fruit and is always delicious.
Love sitting on the back deck overlooking the water.
This was my second time at Straight Wharf and it will certainly not be my last! I took a bunch of ACK rookies here for our final night on the island and it was everything we hoped for and so much more.
We shared 2 bottles of wine and probably half the menu. The lobster dish is a MUST. There was a swordfish special, and it turned out to be the best swordfish dish I have ever had. Least notable was the tartare, but it was still pretty good. The rhubarb tart was insane.
Just do it
We dined on Opening night of the season. Staff was certainly on their A- game. Service was terrific with personal touches. When my husband did not care for his app offers were made to correct it by server and management.
Swordfish and accompaniments were exceptionally good.
First time at Straight Wharf and it comes highly recommended but it was so dark, we could not read the menu or see our food while eating! Two entrees were quite good but the scallops were undercooked and not tasty at all. So despite its reputation, I would probably not recommend given all the other choices on Nantucket!
The food was good , but they write and calculate the bill by hand, no system so when i was in the car on our way back realized they charged us 24$ more . Is not a huge difference but still not good . They need better system.
So just check your bill before you pay .
We celebrated our wedding anniversary and had an outstanding experience with both the food and service! The salads were delicious, the swordfish and fluke entrees were over the moon and the cranberry Apple galette was simply scrumptious! Straight Wharf never disappoints and we can't wait to return!
We were seated by the hostess station and heard a customer comment, as he left, that he planned to cancel his dinner reservations on the island for the rest of the week and only eat at the Straight Wharf. A sentiment that is easily understood -- our dinner at the Straight Wharf out-shined our other meals the week we visited.
We dined at Straight Warf after our wedding and were met with an amazing experience from beginning to end. We were immediately seated upon arriving even though the restaurant was clearly very crowded; they made sure we had a table waiting so we didn't have to. Then we were provided with a complimentary glass of champagne to toast our marriage (just the two of us, we eloped). The food from appetizer to dessert, and complimentary port with dessert, was absolutely amazing and the service impeccable!! If you're on the island and looking for an evening out I would highly recommend. Everything was perfect!!
Straight Wharf is consistently excellent, and is a long-standing favorite in Nantucket. The dining room is very pretty, with candlelit tables, and a high, open ceiling with floor to ceiling windows. We were seated next to the porch (a window wall between us), where there was a lively wedding rehearsal dinner going on. This was not a quiet spot for dinner; there is a lot of energy but not in a distracting way. The food and the wait staff were way above expectation. Highly recommend.
We reserved Straight Wharf for our anniversary dinner based upon past experiences. We ordered the lobster bake, their specialty, but were disappointed. While prices are generally higher in Nantucket, this was the most expensive item on the menu, so our expectations were high. We were underwhelmed with the quantity and quality of the meal.
So disappointing! We were kept waiting over 30 minutes for our table -- and then we were stuck in the corner where we had to keep flagging down the waitstaff to ask for water, our drink order and food. The appetizers could have been a meal -- watermelon gazpacho was delicious but the salad could've been a main course and got tiresome. The chicken under a brick was perfect -- although not as flattened as it should be if it was really under a brick. Charming atmosphere but screaming noise from the bar next door.
Went here for a special birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. Dark, candlelit, romantic dinner right on Nantucket Harbor (I bet the daytime views are great). The food was awesome - a perfectly cooked steak and the local catch of the day: hake - and the service was great. Would definitely recommend to a friend and will be back for sure. Might be more of a special occasion place however as it was quite pricey.
This is a lovely restaurant in Nantucket. Cooking and preparation is less impressive than setting. I had the Straight Wharf clam bake and the lobster was slightly tough and the dish included chorizo which was also tough and overwhelmed the delicate flavors of the lobster and clams. There are other restaurants in Nantucket with more refined cooking but the real draw for this place is the view.
Our family of our had a delicious meal here on our last night in Nantucket. We enjoyed the watermelon gazpacho and sustainable catch of the day, fluke that was perfectly seared. Also recommend the galette. Service was not snobby as in some other Nantucket restaurants. Would definitely recommend.
My wife and I had a great meal here. We sat on the deck overlooking the harbor, though next to the ice cream spot, Stars, was still scenic Nantucket. Service was excellent and they were accommodating when we wanted to change tables. Nice wines by the glass.
