About Stories Fine Dining Establishment at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines
Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa’s signature restaurant is Stories, an upscale Texas steak house ensconced in a gorgeous rustic setting. The farm-to-table menu rotates seasonally under the direction of executive chef Michael Barber and chef de cuisine Tyler Brown. No matter when you visit, our dishes always feature local and seasonal ingredients, as well as herbs and vegetables picked fresh from our own garden. Enjoy prime cuts of meat, fresh seafood, gourmet salads, and more.
On your way into the steak house, you’ll pass through Kesselus Hall, named after local author and historian Ken Kesselus. The foyer’s floor-to-ceiling bookshelves are home to the works of dozens of Texas authors. It’s where Stories gets its name.

Our family celebrated Christmas Dinner at Stories and it was a most memorable and special occasion. Our party included six children under the age of 8 years old; and the entire Restaurant Staff was professional, patient, and helpful. All of which ensured an atmosphere of relaxation even in a formal setting. We appreciated that, as the children were aware of the special significance of the dining experience and Christmas Celebration. Thank you. Jack and Donna Wheatley
We had dinner on the balcony. We ordered a filet and a ribeye. The steaks were a perfect medium rare with a delicious flavor. We also were given an amuse bouche,a pumpkin soup. Unexpected and very good. My only wish is that they would dim the lights a bit on the balcony. The inside was dimly lit and romantic but the balcony was fully lit up. The ambiance was very different.
We went to the Stories restaurant for our 1st wedding anniversary and it was fantastic! The food was great and they asked if we were celebrating anything and when they brought our dessert they wote "Happy 1st Anniversary" on it! Great service, great food, fantastic experience!
Normally not a fan of steak restaurants but this one was spectacular. Had lobster cakes and beef cheek appetizer and both were perfect. My wife had the pan seared escolar and I had the aged rib eye with Oscar add on and it was Perfect! Cooked exactly as asked and one of the best steaks I have ever had. I highly recommend it. Only issues was that food was pricey.
Came in to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. Our server April was very pleasant and engaging. Chef came out to our table and delighted us with an appetizer which was very delicious . We had a great dinner and it made the night very special. Thank you for the amazing service.
We truly enjoyed our meal. The crap cakes, while small, are packed with crap and simply delicious! Steak was cooked to perfection and the risotto, was creamy and full of flavor. The wait staff was attentive no April went above and beyond to make our meal pleasant.
Attention to detail is lacking. I asked for my salmon well done and it came at a medium temperature. Also asked for broccoli instead of asparagus but got asparagus anyway.
Also asked for blue l cheese olives in my martini, received regular olives.
Waitress didn't come back to see if all was ok.
When I did mention the issues she apologized but offered no remuneration.
As a restaurant employee for over 15 years, this is not a great way to create raving fans.
The food was good but not memorable. No need to go back unless I were staying on property again.
Our waitress was a delight and we enjoyed discussing good food and restaurants w her. The food was wonderful. Especially enjoyed the filet and lamb. Great manhatten cocktail. Nice and quiet outside on deck overlooking the resort. Summertime there are a lot of kiddos inside the restaurants at the resort and that can be louder than normal if you are looking for a quiet dinner for two.
Celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. First time to dine at this restaurant. I had the rack of lamb and my bride had the wild game antelope. We had the Creamy Brie Polenta to start. A bottle of wine. and finished with Carrot Cheesecake "Pineapple Compote, Carrot Gelee".
Our waiter " Brad" was very good and explained the menu , picked out a wine for us, was very attentive to us during our dinner. The price was expected for a fine dinning establishment. The food was excellent ! Wish I could afford to dine here frequently , maybe some day. We will be back on special occasions.
The hostess was accommodating and considerate as the size of my party was smaller than previously confirmed. In addition, our server, Tommy was gracious to give me a sampling of thr crab mac and cheese with my meal. The duck was impeccably prepared and the chef was a total social charmer! So glad I went with my instinct and opted for a table vs. private room.
We love Hyatt at Lost Pines but were very disappointed with Stories Restaurant. My husbands steak was over cooked, my daughters filet was undercooked, the crab cakes were burnt on the bottom, the salad was soggy and saturated in dressing and the mashed potatoes were barely warm. I have to say we wanted to leave about half way through the meal.
The food was amazing! The Chef came and talked to us and handed out samples of a future Chef's special which was great. Brad our server was amazing with suggestions and ideas as well and even went downstairs to the other bar so that I could have my favorite drink. The restaurant is a little pricey but well worth it for the quality and taste of the food. I cannot say enough about how good it was.
We were surprised that a steakhouse would over cook our steaks. In return they bought us a bourbon. The brussels sprouts are not cut / sliced enough - bitter. Pretty disappointing in our opinion. The bright spot was our server was charming, and the restaurant was not full on July 4th weekend. But seriously, for 100 bucks per person, it should be better.
This place is VERY expensive. It was $500 for dinner for 4. That was food alone. We did not drink alcohol. I suppose they know for special occasions locals would rather not drive into Austin, but even with fuel and tolls, a similar place in Austin would have had a cheaper, have better food and would be amore refined dining experience. My food, except the steak, came out cold (shrimp and the side dish of potatoes au gratin). Our waiter was also a bit creepy, hovering over the table while we conversed. I really like the resort, but I think I will skip stories again.
The quail appetizer and the seasonal salad were both excellent. Lamb chops were cooked perfectly, and we found a very good (if pricey) California cab that paired well with everything. The balcony dining is excellent with a great view when the weather permits.
We were staying at the Lost Pines Resort and wanted a date night. The service was smooth and attentive. When they brought the steaks out they asked us to check the doneness. My husband's was undercooked and they took it back and cooked it a bit more. The steaks were well prepared. The quality of the meat was not as good as some restaurants we have been to, but certainly above average. Other dishes had creative ingredients and were delightful. The wine list is very reasonably priced. They were happy to accommodate my gluten and dairy intolerance. It was an enjoyable evening without children.
We went to Stories for a nice meal while at Lost Pines Resort. I had the lamb chops and they were one of the best I have ever had. Crusty on outside, medium on inside. tons of flavor. The only down side is the price and portion size. Sides are good size but very expensive. $10 for Mac & cheese that you can get at the downstairs restaurant included in $10 meal. Dessert was churro cheesecake. Though good, it was not expressed to us this was a deconstructed cheesecake with a small Churro, some smooth flavored cream cheese and a small ball of ice cream. Maybe it would have been good for the server to explain what each piece of the puzzle was when dessert was delivered. We had to figure out ourselves and did not realize the spicy ingredient they said was wonderful was a clear gel on our plate we could not see until after finished. Anyway, if you are looking for a Sullivans or Capitol Grill style place, this is your option at the resort.
Love this place. The menu is always interesting. We drive from our weekend ranch in Elgin for dinners here. If you get a chance, book a table here on the 4th of July. They have an incredible fireworks show to go along with their great food. Always look forward to dinner here.
