Stories Fine Dining Establishment at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines
On your way into the steak house, you’ll pass through Kesselus Hall, named after local author and historian Ken Kesselus. The foyer’s floor-to-ceiling bookshelves are home to the works of dozens of Texas authors, where Stories gets it's name.
Another stellar experience at my favorite restaurant in Bastrop County. Thank you, staff and creative energies at Stories for making anything possible and doing it so graciously. The lobster bisque was gorgeous in the bowl and full of deep, complex flavor; crab cakes with microgreens, evoo and lemon were beautifully presented; house salad perfectly balanced and outstanding combination of flavors; and hands-down, the best vegetable side dishes anywhere--all beautifully cooked and beautifully presented. The excellent service and willingness to go the extra mile makes this restaurant truly a hidden gem.
Outstanding food quality. Creative while remaining pleasant to the palate. Chef’s amuse-bouche tuna with Cajun seasoning and cucumber hit the tastebuds perfectly.
Not worth the price!
Steak was cold and service was slow!
Too expensive and not worth it!
April was a great waitress and the steak was prepared correctly
The restaurant seated our large party in the private room. We had excellent service, and the food was terrific.
Excellent dining venue shared with friends for our birthday. Staff was very attentive and food was fabulous.
We would return again for a special occasion.
restaurant was almost empty-should have been our first clue. service was so slow, we left without ordering.
I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye Steak and it was seasoned and cooked perfectly! My husband ordered the filet and said his steak was amazing as well. For appetizers we ordered, shrimp cocktail, crab cakes, and Cesar Salad. All of these were delicious. For dessert I highly recommend the Banana Foster Cheesecake! Overall, our dining experience was great! The food is very pricey but it was well worth it. I highly recommend Stories Fine Dining Establishment!
Birthday celebration with two of our favorite people.
The wait staff was attentive not ubiquitous and the food was as good as possible. Quite amazing for being in the “country “!
Ever since we moved to Bastrop in 2011, Our first choice for special occasion fine dining has been Stories. This is where we have gone for anniversaries and special birthdays, and they never disappoint. The food is always excellent and the wait staff is really good at making us feel special. We enjoy watching food be prepared in the open kitchen. I would reccommend Stories to anyone looking for a terrific, first rate dining experience.
Food was good, but not fine dining. At the price point, I would have expected a much better meal.
It was a wonderful meal, we had eaten here two times before many years ago.
But, it is no longer fine dining, it is a steakhouse atmosphere now and there were very noisy children running amok.
Our servers were excellent and professional, and the food was delicious.
But the atmosphere was not special and it seems to be more of a hotel type restaurant.
The sample of tomato soup amdnselectiom of bread with that incredible butter put an already wonderful meal over the top!
We enjoyed our 25th Anniversary dinner here. Restaurant was romantic, staff was friendly and helpful and the food was yummy.
The food was great and the atmosphere and staff were wonderful.
Open Table took the reservation and Stories was closed
Service was superb. Food didn’t come close to what you’d expect from a spot of this level.
Outstanding holiday treat. We had the last seating but the quality of food gave the impression it was the first. Service was attentive and very friendly. This may be our new Thanksgiving Day tradition.
We were there for Thanksgiving lunch. Ambiance, music, service, and desserts were all top notch!! The buffet itself, which is a huge part of why we make the trip and pay what we do, was a little disappointing. A Thanksgiving meal is not, in my opinion, complete without some sweet potato casserole, not sliced, sautéed potatoes. I’m talking marshmallows over whipped sweet potatoes! Yummy! Also, the only bread offered was sliced sandwich bread. Several varieties, but sliced sandwich bread??? What happened to yeast rolls or Parker House-type rolls or any kind of dinner roll?? Much more traditional and always enjoyed!
The ham was absolutely delicious. Some corn, either kernels or creamed, would have been nice. Most people like corn at Thanksgiving. Overall, a pleasant lunch. We will not be returning to Lost Pines for Thanksgiving next year, but would recommend it to others.
The ballroom setting is truly disappointing and feels too much like a wedding reception. I know, it states clearly the brunch takes place in their ballroom. However, there are no windows, dim lights and a cruise ship sounding band playing up front. Meh!
We were very disappointed in the whole experience. for the price the food and service where poor. It took 25 minutes to wait in line to get in. The check in process was very poor. The salad bar was very sparse and served iceberg lettuce. They charged a 25% gratuity when we checked in and our waitress was no where to be found. Poor service. One of our party was sick and could not attend so we asked for a to go box to take him some food home and were denied. But they would not refund the $68.00 charge. Overall a very poor exxperience and way to expensive for the food they served and the service.
Had to stand in line to pay for almost 30 minutes prior just to get in. How about offer online prepayment? Food was mediocre. Turkey breast, not whole turkey. I want dark meat option. Turkey was dry at both stations. Prime rib was ok. Not a big fan in the first place. Ham was excellent. Fixings were few. No smoked salmon at a high priced buffet? That was really disappointing. Service was good. I would hope so since you have to pay a 24% tip prior to you eating. Been here for the buffet a few times in the past and it was just plain this time. We’ll probably venture elsewhere next year.
My mom and I celebrated my birthday here and it was SO memorable! The entire staff was so polite, professional, and attentive. Now that I’m a server, it takes a lot to impress me at a restaurant. I was thoroughly impressed at Stories. Great place to spend my birthday dinner, and so thankful for everything the staff did to make that dinner the best considering the occasion.
Food was amazing!!! All 4 adults agreed this was the best meal in a long time! And the 4 year old with us loved all his food too, he even got to decorate his own cookie for desert. Highly recommended for any special occasions!
Food was very good. Not a large selection if you didn’t like steak. Also quite expensive with items being ala carte
April, Brett, Jesus and Tyler were phenomenal. The experience was wonderful and service outstanding. Nothing negative and would hope anyone's experience was as wonderful as ours. Love that people were real, honest and attentive. This team deserves a raise and thumbs up!
Over priced steaks, not the quality we have had not expected. Would eat at firewheel cafe over this anytime when we stay again.
Service outstanding. Food and mixed cocktails have been better in the past. The quality has dipped considerably.
Delicious steak, side dishes could have been better. I didn’t care for the Mac & cheese or potatoes. Service excellent. Kids menu very good, children loved decorating cookies!
The staff was excellent and the steak was the best I've ever had. They actually cooked the wrong (more expensive) steak for us on accident. The manager came out and personally apologized and then they comped the steak on top of that! Also, it was my boyfriend's birthday, so we got a free dessert as well. No embarrassing singing shenanigans required. :)
Nothing special, typical hotel cuisine, average service, extremely loud environment.
We did yet another anniversary dinner at Stories, this time with another couple. As always, the food and service were great. My wife had the fillet, which never fails. I tried the sea bass for the first time. It was excellent. This place never fails.
Steaks were very good and perfectly cooked. Waitperson Anthony was great.
Hospitality was outstanding. Steaks were average taste and a little chilled....not 5 star but solid 3 star. Need to take the puréed potatoes off the menu. However, the creamed spinach, lobster Mac/Cheese and crab cakes were good. Would recommend if you don’t feel like driving into Austin.
Food was mediocre at best. Waiter tried to make it right. He got A+ for service.
It was a wonderful experience at Stories Fine Dining. Our party of nine was seated in the private dining room, with a glass view of the kitchen. The chef prepared everything perfectly. Wonderful filet’s and seafood. Overall, very impressed with this experience. Highly recommend to anyone!
We had a very pleasant experience with excellent service and high-quality food.
This place has the makings of a great place, but nothing was outstanding. My steak was overdone. And burned on the outside. The service was slow too.
Overall very good. Steakhouses are not my favorite cuisine: I like steaks just fine, but I almost always find them to be relatively poor value in higher-end establishments. Nonetheless, everything was done very well, portions were generous, and service was first-rate. And extra points for the quality at a hotel restaurant. With this quality, no reason to drive off-property for a good steak.
My husband and I were on a getaway trip together, hoping to enjoy a quiet meal for our Anniversary. But we were seated near (directly beside) a large family with 2 small children who were pretty noisy as was their mother who was also talking loudly over them.
The service was average, the food was good, but the environment made it not such a great experience.
I have eaten at the restaurant before and didn’t find it so noisy that time.
I think they should seat family parties in a different section than adult only parties.
