Stoney Brook Grille Ratings and Reviews
Always pleasant, a cheerful and professional waitstaff. The food is consistently delicious, with not a lot of weird trendy ingredients added. It does get a little noisy when crowded; so probably not the best choice for a quiet intimate dinner. They make a great martini, and the white wine pour is generous and ice cold. We go there a lot and are never disappointed.
This was my first time at Stony Grille. Considering our lunch reservation was in the middle of 'office holiday party' week, it was great. They were able to maintain a quality level of service and great food. Achieving that kind of consistency will get me back for a return visit. We had the Mezzo Trio Plate, the Shrimp &n Crab Meet Salad and the Mediterranean Chopped Salad. Everything was fresh and beautiful. Yes, it was a healthy lunch. It was nice to have healthy choices as beautiful burger platters went by our table!!! On our return, the order will definitely include a burger or one of the beautiful entrees we saw.
I reserved a table for my husbands mid-week Birthday. I noted this on the reservation. The dining area was very noisy and the waitress had to shout the specials to us. Our waitress was the best part of the dining experience. The place was busy with business office parties and it was just too noisy for a Birthday or anniversary dinner. We each ordered specials that were overpriced for what we got. Nothing was horrible, but nothing to rave about either.
The food we had was good and delicious. They do take care of their customers and making sure they are happy. They do not have a ton of stuff to choose from but what they do have is delicious and they do have gluten free on their menu if you do suffer from gluten allergies.
I was pleasantly surprised that the buffet brunch was wonderful. There was an amazing array of delicious and interesting food to satisfy either breakfast or lunch cravings. Our servers were attentive and kept our coffee and water full at all times. The lovely harp music added a lovely touch to the ambiance.
My only negative is that we were seated next to a large noisy party, which fortunately arrived near the end of our meal.
I thought the brunch would be a great way to celebrate my birthday since it is so highly rated.
I was wrong.
Sorry I didn't get up and leave when we waited for 10 minutes after being seated before the waiter even came over. We were mostly ignored by the waitstaff. They were very slow to clear plates and refill drinks.
The food was average at best.
Ruined my birthday.
The servers was great and attentive
It was loud
The bar was fun they had a trivia
Someone recommended the seafood tower but I did not like it because you did get big pieces of shrimp or crab It was all chopped up in tiny pieces
The menu had a lot of variety to choose from
Upon entering we were greeted by a friendly hostess, but it was very difficult to hear her due to the noise level. Both live music (love it) and loud diners (sound dampening needed?) made the dining experience at this terrific restaurant a 4 rather than five star for my husband and I. Not a deal breaker, but certainly difficult to have nice conversations. Even our waiter had to lean in to give us the specials of the night so we could actually hear them. Nice decor, delicious food and appealing bar with nice cocktails. We will be back!
This place bills itself as a fine-dining family restaurant. The food and service almost qualify as fine-dining, but the ambiance falls short. Think Applebees with higher level food. Lots of kids running around and an exuberant noise level. We were there for a special occasion and we'll probably go back, but just for a casual meal with friends.
The Sunday brunch was awesome. The selection of food not only covers the standard brunch items,(breakfast potatoes, precooked bacon and sausage etc.) but they also have some unusual items like General Tso's pork or crispy zucchini balls. There are waffle and omelette stations and the best carved turkey breast I have ever eaten. The dining rooms are quite nice and not over crowded. Our waiter was attentive and pleasant. Overall a great place to go for brunch.
Five of us went to dinner - we all got the filet mignonette on special and it was delicious! Ginger mashed potatoes were soooo good, and the baby carrots with the balsamic carros were the best. We all had salads too which were fresh and chilled. Drinks were great. All in all a really excellent meal. New menu, lots of great choices! We will be back soon!
