My wife and I walked into Stonesedge Kitchen around 4:55pm, looking to sit down for a couple of drinks followed by an early dinner.
The hostess greeted us, and asked if we had a reservation. We said no, and she then apologized and said they were not taking any customers who didn't have a reservation. A quick glance around indicated that over 80% of the restaurant was empty and unless they had booked a party, that didn't make any sense. "That's disappointing," we thought, and we left. As we were walking away, I pulled out my phone, and looked up Stonesedge Kitchen reservations online.
A reservation was available at 5:15pm.
Almost in disbelief, I booked it, and after we sauntered around the village for just over 10 minutes, we returned and half-expected to be turned away. They seated us.
We were glad to get a seat, but were also quite perturbed that the hostess didn't even look or suggest we look for booking a reservation.
That really made us feel unwelcome, but we stayed nonetheless. And we were glad we did, as the food was superb.
Although the food was exceptional, our server was the opposite. We ordered oysters, foccacia bread and a steak, along with 2 'special' scotch whiskeys and an ice wine. The oysters and bread came out together, which was OK - but would have been better with a little time between them.
The scotch was good, but overpriced and it may have been a single shot in that scotch glass - we were expecting 3X more volume.
I asked for tabasco, and he forgot it, so we finished the oysters without it - they did have a thicker and weaker 'hot' sauce that was good enough, though not the same spicy vinigrette bit as tabasco.
Then with the steak, I asked for the tabasco again. Finally, we forgot we ordered the ice wine until 1/2 through the steak - because he had forgotten it as well.
Overall - the food was exceptional but the rest of the service ranged from poor to downright inhospitable.

I first would like to offer an apology for how your experience at Stonesedge went. On this particular evening, the restaurant was full booked and we were no longer accepting walk-ins. We apologize for the service you received. I have touched base with the staff member who served you on how he could have done better. We're glad you enjoyed the food, and hope that you will give us another shot and giving you the all star service we're known for.
