   Arrived and was kindly relocated from the inner restaurant to the conservatory area. Atmosphere was really nice and servers were attentive but lacked knowledge and passion around the food and wine. Restaurant very clean and food was excellent. Would highly recommend but, would appreciate a little more flavour/commentary from the severs on the dishes and rationale on the tasting menu and the reasons for wine accompaniment.

    Stones was recommended to us by friends, and we were so glad that they did. From the moment we arrived until the time that we left, we were looked after in a professional and friendly manner. The food was outstanding, each course as good as the last, and very good value for the quality and type of food on offer. I would definitely return and would highly recommend Stones to anyone who likes modern British cuisine.

    This was a lovely meal by the river in Matlock. The flavours were fabulous and each course was yummy. The staff were attentive, one of the best meals we have had. Well done to Stones at Matlock.

    A belated birthday celebration was enjoyed at Stones. Love the setting of this restaurant nestled alongside the river Derwent. It was a bright and sunny Saturday afternoon, which elevated the mood.

    Fantastic food cooked brilliantly and served with a smile! Unfortunately we weren’t in the conservatory which would have made the experience a little better, but other than that, the food and service excellent and very reasonable for the quality. Will be back for sure.

    Welcome friendly. Our waitress Anne Marie was extremely helpful and informative and very attentive throughout the whole meal. Our friends who were visiting us from Rugby were extremely impressed.     First visit. Easily missed as right on corner, and understated smallish sign in cut out letters. Steps down to restaurant quite steep, but staff so helpful I am sure if any assistance was required they would respond immediately. Table simply laid, tastefully. Staff friendly, helpful and not intrusive. Whole evening was a joy. Food tasty, fresh, and wholesome. Red wine was room temp, and served as we needed top ups. Amuse bouche was very tasty, and I could have had a whole bowl it was so delicious. Dessert was tempting, and well presented, sweet and satisfying.

    Absolutely superb meal. Food of the highest quality. Exquisite canapés and amuse bouche. We only had starters and mains - which were fantastic. The gin-cured sea trout starter was incredible. Both the lamb and duck mains were cooked perfectly pink.
