El Stones, escondido en el centro de la antigua ciudad balneario de Matlock, es un restaurante acogedor que sirve cocina británica moderna con estilo. I feel stones is very much a case of the emperors new clothes the people of Matlock gush over the place . I eat here a few times a year . The drinks are good the canapés are lovely . My starter was good but the lamb main course was shocking . The lamb was nice the rest was a mess no potatoes or proper veg the end of a carrot really awful. Why can’t you provide fresh veg and pototo? ??? I had a shared cheese board which was fine . My bill just for me with a Bellini and a glass of fizz 80 pounds !!!! Far too much for two pieces of carrot and not much else . You really need to deal with this stones give additional veg and potatoes and it’ll work for me .

Managed to get booked in on two days notice so that was a surprise. We have been numerous times before but this restaurant still manages to meet the mark whilst others have diminished their quality or fallen by the wayside in today's challenging market. The service and food were both up the usual excellent standard and a visit to Stones just elevates the day.

We have visited Stones several times, we are always very pleased with the food and the service, we would highly recommend. The food is exceptional, we don't think there is anywhere else in Derbyshire that offers such wonderful food.
