Their food is constantly good, service is very good. I wish they would change up their standard menu a bit or offer specials. They only have one soup and for a fabulous tavern as this is, pleaase put onion soup on your menu as a 2nd choice, not everyone likes chowder.
They don't have many vegetarian options, but they do offer a Veg Shepherd's Pie. It's delicious and one of the main reasons I keep going back. Service is usually on point too with friendly staff.
Sat outside, was seated at a table for four and we were a two, which I like, I hate being seated at a small table. Waitress was excellent.
Burger cooked as requested. Wait staff personable and efficient. Highly recommend.
Cool building with lots of history. Food was mediocre at best, service was terrible. We had to hunt down our server everytime we needed something.
Chose this restaurant randomly and it became an instant favorite. The ambiance, food, service- all outstanding and just what you’d expect in New England. Can’t wait to return!
I have been to Stone’s several times over the years, and it is always a great experience. Friendly and personable service, awesome food and great beer selection. So happy to be back last night and thrilled they still serve their awesome burger and fries.
Food was good. Service was good. The hostess needs more training. We had a good time, but you need to spray for mosquitoes. All four of us went home with bites on our feet, ankles and legs.
One of our favorite local spots for casual dining. Great bar, great local beers on tap, solid menu, interesting specials on rotation, and the staff are always super nice. Wish they’d bring back the Guinness Stew!
We had a great family dinner last night. Server was Nina and she was fun & energetic. Everything we ate, from apps, meals & dessert were delicious. No complaints at all.
Been coming to Stone's for awhile with work colleagues. Nice setting on an enclosed patio to be outside with friends.
The nice selection of draft beers keeps us coming back. Service was a little off this time, but I am sympathetic to hiring issues right now. I'll definitely give it another go.
Very nice outdoor patio with plenty of room.
We travel 20+ miles to go to the Stone's Public House for their exceptional food, service and ambience! Highly recommended!
I love going to Stone's Public House with my family and friends. The staff is always very friendly and the food is delicious.
Great lunch and service
One of the best meals I’ve ever eaten! Wire chairs very uncomfortable. Trains rumbling by
What can I say, our waitress was quite young which is no problem, believe me but she was trying to act like she was our best friend and had no training or knowledge of the menu. We had ordered and then she disappeared and we didn’t see her. No utensils, no bread, no water. I had to ask one of the other waiters for his assistance, thank God for him. Food quality unacceptable. Couldn’t wait to leave and go home to eat
Made accommodations for us on short notice. Great grub and libation selection. Appreciate your flexibility. Waitstaff is super friendly and attentive to food allergies.
Nice outdoor patio with good food. Trains were loud, but overall it was a pleasant evening.
Food and drinks are always good, service is nice, friendly, fast and knowledgeable, atmosphere can't be beat, especially when they have the fireplace on.
One of our first times eating indoors since the shut-down, this was a great experience. Stone’s is one of our local favorites (have been doing take-out from them this past year) and we were really pleased to be there in person AND have a friend along to show her some the best of Ashland. Great food, great service!
Enjoyed our meal In the courtyard. Food was good and staff were friendly and efficient.
Great place to meet up with friends. Varied food choices will profit everyone’s tastes. The bar well stocked. The staff is delightful. And the history of the place just makes you want to be part of the history!
Always a fabulous meal and service!
We like Stone’s very much! Trains rumbling by are entertaining.
Nice relaxing atmosphere, great friendly service, interesting menu.
Would go back in a heart beat. The food was wonderful, especially the cheese tray.
The Lamb Shepard's Pie was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and provided excellent service
The corned beef and cabbage egg rolls are not to be missed!
Four foodies each had unique and excellent meals.
Excellent service, yummy food and great outdoor patio! We will return! They have a beautiful bar inside with a fireplace for fall and winter dining!!
Outstanding…. From the drinks, the incredible scallop app , both our steaks to the mashed spuds, hand cut fries and spinach, all was great ….. best meal in a while
Our meal was just ok.... it was hot in the pub area because they had the door open to the patio.
Had a 6:15 reservation & arrived at 6:00 & were seated right away. Great service & great food! Extensive selection of IPA’s. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Scallops with polenta was super. Steak and salads good. Salmon with mustard very good the portion was actually too large.
Service was prompt, a small complaint is server awfully chatty. The server kind of chipped in to a table conversation which was odd and out of place. Otherwise we enjoyed our whole experience. Noise came when trains went by since we ate on the patio which is very pleasant.
We had to wait about half an hour for a table to open up- even with a reservation but the food was delicious
Overall great place to eat. Unfortunately our Server had the personality of a shoelace with a nasty attitude which left us with a pretty sour taste in our mouth. Disappointing because otherwise it was a great night out.
Sunday night and raining so quiet in the restaurant. The Bartender took care of us the entire night and he was so nice. We started with a tasty salad and we both ordered the fish taco specials, and dessert. We really wooped it up. Everything was delicious. His service was polite and outstanding and genuine. I started going to Stones back in the late 70's as I was a Framingham State student JS's served free cheese and crackers at the bar! Today, I live a couple of towns over and still frequent "Stones" and still enjoy the ambience, the service and of course the food. The only thing I would suggest is to change the cocktail menu more frequently. I love seasonal cocktails - !
Good specials. Great apps. Good variety of entrees.
Service was somewhat slower due to being short staffed but it overall was a good experience.
I love John Stones Public House! Never disappoints! I had a cheeseburger topped with a fried egg. Hubby.had the pulled pork sandwich. Unbeatable! They make their own fries...outstanding. They served us a flight of 4 different beers that we wanted to try. Some we're good, some, were just ok. They were ice cold. One was an IPA, which neither of us are fond of, but we ordered it, just to try again.
Service was great! Someone else besides our server brought out the food...hot & fresh. Didn't need anything else. I love the rustic atmosphere! Built in the 1800s, some of the wood (esp.thewide planked floors) are original to the building. The commuter rail goes by every now & then, but it only adds to the atmosphere!
We go there Everytime we want a good meal for little $$. We will keep going back!
