I would be delighted to give an actual review of Stone's Cove HAD IT ACTUALLY BEEN OPEN ON CHRISTMAS AS YOU REPORTED. What impressed me most is that I got a call from the Manager to confirm what I had learned when I called the restaurant, that they were in fact closed on Christmas. He was super conscientious about making sure my family and I didn't show up to an empty restaurant. And like me, he was none too pleased with Open Table's outdated info about their Christmas schedule - I was one of several parties he had to do this for. We hope to visit after the holidays but you can be sure we won't be booking a table via Open Table.
BTW, NONE of the restaurants recommended by Open Table were open on Christmas. Find a way to report correct info on your restaurants and you might be more useful.
The food was great specially the crab dip. The service was pretty bad. We had to try get their attention to come to our table and take our drink order. The appetizers and the main dish for one of our party came out first. 10 minutes later they brought the main dish for the second member of our party. My husband’s dinner came out last and it was cold.
They were not crowded and seemed to have enough servers.
Not sure if we will go back.
Food and cocktails were outstanding, as usual. On this night, the restaurant seemed a bit in need of a cleaning - table was sticky and in general, a good cleaning and a few Christmas decorations would have improved the experience.
Fun restaurant. Went for lunch with a friend. Food was good. The service was great. Restaurant has a great happy hour vibe.
We thought this place would be great for a quick dinner, but it was a huge disappointment. The server was nice, but then he stopped coming to check on us.
The fish for the fish tacos hadn’t been thawed so we couldn’t order that item…and there were few other options for a pescatarian…they did let us get Caesar salad with salmon (not on the menu), which was ok.
Overall, we found the food and service to be poor and won’t be back.
I like the smaller and shareable portions.
Went for an early 5pm happy hour/dinner with another couple. Negatives: It seemed the restaurant had a number of people working, but we were seated for 20 minutes before we were able to get someone's attention to take our drink orders. We weren't offered another drink until after happy hour ended. The table was set with napkins and flatware, but it hadn't been wiped down, and was covered with grease and crumbs. One of the seats had some oil spilled on it and needed to be wiped as well. Some of the flatware had food stuck to it. We were never offered a coffee refill. Positives: The servers were very pleasant and the food and atmosphere was pretty good. We were immersed in good conversation, so the wait wasn't unbearable. The server told us they were short-staffed. These oversights are easy to fix, and I would definitely go back.
I cannot recommend this restaurant any longer. It is having staffing and management issues. Limited food choices due to new staff. They should not be open for brunch as they are incapable of offering most menu items. Embarrassing as we brought relatives here. Management was either not present or didn’t care. Music being played overhead was vulgar and offensive. Food that we were able to get was mediocre at best.
Service was terrible. My wife’s fish was good but my flatbread was burnt. Never again
I understand that some places are short on staff. However, if you would tell guests upfront that this is the case, more might be more understanding.
Sadly, the restaurant was severely under staffed. I came here with my 1 year old for dinner. They had no high chairs that fit the indoor tables since they are all high tops. They were able to get a booster seat for the booth which was less than ideal. They had no changing table and when I asked one of the workers he told me to just change him at my table. The food was great but I will not be going back.
Food was below average
Mac and cheese was not good
Customer service is below average
Eggs and spinach were cold
Coffee was cold
Staff are friendly and entertaining as always. Food and drink selection are really good. Thank you!
Good food; great service. Great happy hour prices. Our Outdoor dining was sorta in the parking lot and I could smell the sewer wafting up.
Great service and the French Dip sandwich was spectacular.
If our server hadn’t forgotten to give us our appetizer and actually checked on our table every once in a while, this would have been a perfect experience. We were ignored, but the food was great!
I was not familiar with the restaurant setup. I reserved a table on OpenTable but was told the only tables available were at the bar. That was fine since almost all seating is at the bar which surrounds the open kitchen. Our meal was better that we expected but the place is noisy.
My wife and I have been coming to this spot for 10 years. Always good food, good service and we enjoy seeing the faces of employees who have been there for years.
Our waiter was professional, knowledgeable and courteous.
First time and really enjoyed the ambiance and thought the food for beautifully presented and delicious!
This was our first time dining here. The food we had was pretty good, there’s lots of choices. I couldn’t help but notice that the doors coming in we’re filthy. We sat at the bar and all of the appliances behind the bar and the counters behind the bar weren’t clean. It seems like they really need to do a thorough cleaning of this place in terms of the area behind the bar where they are all handling food and preparing things. The staff was very nice and efficient. I will definitely return but I hope that they clean the place up a bit especially since cleanliness is very important in these times.
Was traveling with family and this place was close by to our hotel. Good service, reasonable prices, solid portion sizes.
Great spot for casual business dinner
Food is quite good - hot and cold dips with pita chips are a favorite. Flatbreads are excellent, with lots of ingredients. The Cuban sandwich was very filling. The service was friendly, but sporadic and somewhat inattentive. We had to request water refills, and we waited quite a while for our food. The restaurant wasn't very busy, so our server's inattentiveness was rather annoying.
Unfortunately they were out of the lamb chops, but I had the flat iron steak and that was excellent. We also had the strawberry shortcake that they only have occasionally but that was excellent as always.
The food there is always amazing! Brunch has been our new favorite. The breakfast pizza and tacos are great!
We love the kit bar, it is our go to spot for a family dinner. Richard and Sydney always take great care of us!
Novel room configuration, excellent service, food is very good though not great.
At the front are a few booths and tables. Most of the room is a large oval bar with cooking and plating in the middle that makes for a good show with opportunities to interact with chefs. Very unique in the bar configuration are several extensions for groups of 4-6.
If you are in the Herndon-Chantilly area, the KitBar is a novel spot for more creative dining without going a lot further to Great Falls, Tysons, Arlington or DC. It's easy to make a multi-course meal from the small plates/appetizers.
Food on our visit: very good were Lamb Lollipops, Hot & Cold Dips, Naked Wings, and Brunch Flatbread. Just okay was the Filet of Beef Sliders with tender though sinewy tenderloin. We had to be careful eating the sliders as sauce was very willing to ooze out.
Stone's Cove Kit Bar is quite good for a neighborhood place. Casual, very good service and the food is surprisingly good for this kind of establishment. Reasonable prices, relaxed. I recommend!
Fun evening at Stones Cove. Good is always good and the drinks are great!
Nice option for a last minute booking, but menu is limited for kids.
Food is delicious and cooked in front of you.
Overall, it was OK but not great. Got attitude from one of the cooks when I commented that something had onions when the menu did not state so - his response was that the menu cannot list all ingredients. True, but perhaps it should list those that some people do not eat ... like onions. Drinks were so so. Food was OK, about diner quality. Prices are high relative to what you get. I would not go back.
First timer! Food was great, our server was attentive and other staff were also continuously checking on us. Will definitely come back again!
Good food, but not the greatest service. Considering COVID-19 restrictions and the limitations on how many guests could be in the restaurant, the service was very slow.
Very fun experience and delicious food!
Great food! Went for lunch on a Tuesday and there were no crowds. The food was tasty and satisfying. Orders were easily adapted to individual needs. Food took a long time to come out, but worth the wait. Waiter delivered lemon slice for water in his bare hand and dropped it in the glass (!!!???). Otherwise, great place to eat. More of a casual dining experience than an sophisticated environment.
There was only one other group of diners on the patio but they were very LOUD
Nice neighborhood bar and grill. I had the Cobb salad and the sirloin steak with red pepper grits. The salad and steak were both good and the grits were really good. Overall a nice bar and grill that does a good job.
We absolutely love coming to Stone’s Cove. The food and service are always amazing. We brought our friends here to celebrate a birthday. Our favorite drink is the Dirty Deed! We love the flat breads as an appetizer. The cod is my favorite dish and you can’t go wrong with the carrot cake or key lime cones. If you have the opportunity, also try brunch here. You won’t be disappointed!!
