We loved our experience at the Stonehouse. We loved the ambience and service was wonderful.
If there is heaven this is it! Perfect service, atmosphere and food!
The Stonehouse Inn never disappoints. Such a spectacular property with out-of-this-world dining experiences.
Perfect service and excellent food in historic setting.
A fabulous dinner!
While in Santa Barbara, we decided to head to the Stone House for a last dinner. Arriving a bit early for our reservation, we were directed to the Plow and Angel. This is a slightly less expensive eatery that has the feel of a cozy English pub. The fine bartender there served up an excellent Manhattan for us, while we waited for the Stone House to open. Our subsequent dinner at the Stone House was excellent (steak flambe to die for!) We dined on the outdoor patio, which was warmed by a heated floor and provided a romantic setting, with star-like scattering of overhead lighting and a beautiful sunset view.
Be warned, as others have noted, that all this comes at a pretty high price. But for a special occasion, it's well worth it.
One of the most beautiful properties in the world, one of the most beautiful restaurants with an outstanding menu and Chef. The staff always makes you feel at home and the wine list is one of the best in the world old.
The Stonehouse is beautiful. The food is creatively prepared and service is excellent. Our only complaint is there are no vegan options.
Our waiter was not attentive at all. My drink arrived 15 minutes after my husbands. Service was just off. Very disappointed as I have eaten here in the past and my experience was outstanding. Not the wow factor we expect for the amount of money we spend.
Every bite at once unique but familiar and always delicious. The care and attention shown by the knowledgeable staff is exceptional.
Wonderful meal in a great location. That being said, it was a very expensive meal that was not as memorable as some other meals I have had in other nice restaurants. At some point a meal should not be about how exclusive it is based upon the price, but really about the quality of the chef's work. I think we have gotten a little ridiculous about trying to charge the highest prices to make it seem like a better place.
Highly recommended place to have dinner, I would say that the food is way better than Addison in the Grand Del Mar in San Diego. Perfect place to take a date...I forgot to mentioned that they have great wine list
Other thing, we ordered sparkling water and the water boy didn’t evenly distributed he kept pouring water to my boyfriends glass and he forgotten about me.
We were there the day before thanksgiving. Staff was amazing on all levels. Made real effort(s) to make us feel welcomed and special. The food was good, not great. Steak Diane which I thought was to be cooked at the table was not- just the accompanying mushrooms sauce.... the oysters were great and the soufflé for dessert was a B+. The bread tray has a terrific crisp bread!
Wonderful evening. Food, service, and ambience was great!
Really wonderful. We don't go to Santa Barbara often but when we do we come to this restaurant. As always it did not disappoint. The service was amazing and the food perfect. I love that there are people in dinner jackets and cocktail dresses and some in sweaters and jeans. The service is fun and understated. The food is perfectly cooked and presented.
This was a very special place for me and my partner. We will always come back here when we are in town
Travelled to Santa Barbara for 5 days of California cuisine and wine. This was a highly anticipated dinner and, sadly, the most disappointing of our 5 dinners.
Arrived at 5:56 for a 6:00 reservation. Doors locked. Staff opened the door only to tell us and the other 2 couples that "We don't open until 6pm." Odd. Went to the bar downstairs and had excellent cocktails prepared and served by a friendly staff.
Knowledgeable sommelier who recommended a delicious Ojai Vineyards pinot. Pricey ($180) but worth it. Essentially uninspired food served by a disinterested staff. Disappointing.
Everything about the Stonehouse is outstanding. It's hard to imagine what could be improved upon. We went for our anniversary. The service is impeccable. The food indescribably good. The desserts are beyond compare. A very expensive restaurant but there is no equal!
Cheerful experience. Advice to come there for the weekend dining. Enjoy !
Great local and service. Perfect for quiet intimate dining.
Honeymoon! Was here a year ago to the day for the post-engagement dinner and it is absolutely breathtaking. Will be back again God willing
We had a wonderful brunch today. Citrus cured salmon appetizer was delicate and delicious. Crab Benedict was wonderful too. The grounds are serene, and the dining patio has a beautiful view of hills to ocean. Our server was very helpful and friendly too. A first rate experience in every way.
Amazing food and even better service from the staff. I can’t wait to come back. You guys made our anniversary feel really special.
Our lunch at the Stonehouse was perfect, from beginning to end - from the friendly greeting from valet parking and the utter beauty upon entering the plush, lavenderesque tones of the gardens to the personalized service of the waiter. The 3-course lunch was to die for - seabass and clams in a delicate sauce which was eagerly sopped up w/ the fresh olive bread. The sorbets were punched w/ natural flavor and the Meyer lemon tart was spectacular! We loved our visit!
Stonehouse exceeded our expectations. The setting is so beautiful and created an almost magical experience. The food and wine were absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. We had a group of 6 so we sampled several items on the menu - everything was wonderful from our pre-dinner cocktails to the amazing Meyer lemon soufflé for dessert. I cannot wait to go back!
An outstanding choice when visiting Santa Barbara. Great food, ambiance, and style just outside of downtown. Try to sit at an outside table -- they are great. Prices are upscale but worth it. I like the style and consistency of the food, as well as the friendliness of the staff. I will be back.
Pork belly appetizer was excellent but I felt both our entrees were a little sub par from their usual execution.
Exquisite setting, beautiful restaurant, excellent food, outstanding service. We were celebrating my husband’s birthday. Stonehouse Restaurant was highly recommended to us. We were not disappointed. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Very good meal in an outstanding location. Service is very attentive.
Exquisite setting and atmosphere. Abalone appetizer, fantastic. Steak Dianne, mediocre. Rack of Lamb was cold. Sommelier was rushed, non descriptive. Chocolate Soufflé excellent?
We have been here on several occasions.
This one was our 20th Anniversary....we were also here for our Honeymoon.
This meal was by far the worst we have ever had......
San Ysidro Ranch is a lovely place but a little tired.
The Stonehouse has been a favorite of ours for years.
But NOW they need a New Executive Chef!
The most disappointing meal on our weeklong trip along the coast.
It started our poorly with two dry radishes served with some common olives.
It went downhill from there....
Just an awful experience except for our waiter and Todd the Wine Director who were both terrific.
With Encanto now in Santa Barbara they have some serious competition.
Time to get the act together starting with someone new running the kitchen.
Sorry to have to write this review!
Service was better than usual and it is a lovely venue. Because of the prices the value is fair.
Wonderful restaurant. Really enjoyed during our stay in SB/Montecito. Recommend highly.
After a nice hike this was the perfect lunch with excellent salads, fish and gourmet pizza. We thoroughly enjoyed and we’re impressed by the quality of ingredients and preparation.
Most beautiful setting, delicious food and blood orange margarita was an extra treat!
Terrific birthday lunch. Everything delicious, from strawberry salad to hamachi, to mains of scallops and steak. Complimentary dessert to cap our celebration. Attractive presentations. Attentive but not cloying service. Historic, classic ambiance, yet casual.
Beautiful location. Delicious, fresh food. Impeccable service. Special. Highly recommend.
This is one of the finest dining experiences I have had in my lifetime. From the moment you drive up the tree lit driveway, to the valet parking, and magically lit grounds, it is all perfect. The service was impeccable. The food was exquisite. We will be back to celebrate more special occasions at this very delightful restaurant.
Every single bit of fabulous. So romantic and the gardens for a stroll is a lovely way to enjoy a fresh mixed cocktail. The food was Devine and our server, Dave, was so knowledgeable but not pushy in the least, he knew when we needed something but gave us all the space and time we needed for conversation and savoring every bite. Excellent in every way, I would recommend it to anyone who will listen.
Gorgeous setting and the food was absolutely delicious. The one drawback, the price for Sunday brunch (which included unlimited champagne) was the same regardless if you were drinking ice tea! I would definitely go back!
