Stoned Crab Ratings and Reviews
Real nice first visit! We celebrated our anniversary and enjoyed the ambiance and good food. We would recommend this eatery for a casual night of good food and drink. The white sangria regined over the red as a perfect blend of flavors. Our server was prompt, sweet and polite. The bar area was busy, but the booths in the bar area were perfectly private. We will be back.
The family ate at this restaurant when we took my wife out for mothers day. My wife has been there before. It was my first time. They had a special Mother's Day menu, but had no problem accommodating my son's food allergy and making a special version of an item on that menu. We had also shown up early and the staff was great about it. Not only did they invite us into the bar area for a look at the menu and a drinks till our table was ready ( most places would of told us to have a seat and will call you when your table is ready). The bar tender was fun and energetic and made the 15 mins fly bye. The waitress was knowledgeable about the menu. Plan to go back soon.
We dine at the Stoned Crab once every month or two. Meals for my wife and I typically cost around $60 total after tip and water to drink. The food has always been good and the service has been fine. The restaurant is in a free standing building with plenty of parking around the building. There are several selections on the menu that we like and even something our picky, teenage granddaughters enjoyed. The crab bisque is memorable. Stoned Crab competes head to head with Morgans, Randalls and Henrys Salt in the Allentown area. These are the 4 that get our repeat business. There are other similar restaurants in the valley, but none that draw us back. I have no experience with handicapped accessibility, but the Stoned Crab looks like it may present several challenges. If I were in a wheel chair, I would head for Morgans. Make sure you know where Stoned Crab is located before going. They are located in a house that was probably built in the 1800's and the vegetation partly covers the one sign on the side of the building.
Not being from the area I relied on OT for recommendation for dinner. This place popped up. While reading the menu I couldn't wait to get there to eat. I was not disappointed. Food was great, service was great, I have nothing but good things to say about this gem of a restaurant. Since it was a local place my expectations were pretty low but this place blew me away. I kinda wish they would open one where I lived because I know its better than any local restaurant where I live. Try it, you will love it and definitely come back.
We were passing by the area and found this on open table. The food was delicious for my husband and I but also the kids, too. We're "training" them to be foodies - my teenager even enjoyed the escargot special, my 10 year old got linguini (which was spaghetti and not linguini), the 8 year old got the flatbread pizza. It would have been better if they had a cappuccino/espresso machine for coffee after dinner, but that didn't detract too much. We were seated upstairs which was very quiet. It looked like downstairs was a little more active. The server was attentive and most everything came out quickly except the adult entrees. The place itself looked a little dated. Overall, I would recommend this place for a solidly good dinner with you significant other or your family.
One of our close-to-home go-to spots, especially with friends, this particular time the food was not up to its normal standards. The rack of lamb, priced at a fairly reasonable $26, contained two small double chops, each of which had no more than three or four bites. They either need to serve at least one more chop, or not serve it at all.
Usually a great place. We go here often but this time they were off their game. It was a Thursday night and the place was packed. I think this knocked the staff off their usual first-rate service. The service was slow and some of the food items were lukewarm or closer to cold. For sure, we'll return, but may pick another night next time.
