Stoned Crab Ratings and Reviews
It was easy to make and change a reservation. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Service was extremely slow due to many tables and only 2 waitresses. Our entire dining time for 2 people was 2 hours and that was due to the extreme slow service. It took 15 minutes just to get our drinks. The appetizers came out 45 minutes later, the salads were fairly quick after we completed the apps, and then dinner took another 45 minutes. The portions are way too small for the price. The filet mignon was done perfectly and was excellent quality meat.
The salad was a bunch of greens with 2 cherry tomatoes, 2 small pcs of cucumber and croutons. Apparently there was no choice of dressing. The blackened chicken was so hot I left it on the plate. The linguine (spaghetti) was supposed to have a tomatoe cream sauce and all I could taste was a heavy cheese sauce (horrible). My husband's tuna was equally as hot and was served with undercooked carrots. I doubt that we will return.
Overall, it was good. We will be back. The food took quite a while to come out, but everything was very good, so it was worth it. It seemed they were short staffed, but everyone jumped in to help. My plate came out less than luke warm and I asked to have it heated up. Within 5 minutes, I had a FRESH entree. Not heated, but fresh! Great recovery.
Good for seafood at an affordable cost. Don't know if it was just the night, but it was an older crowd at the bar. Nonetheless, food was decent especially the Lobster Thermidor which was different and really knocked it outta the park. Beer list was notable with a few craft varieties on tap.
A place my wife and I love to go to. We love the mussels app and both the Stoned Crab Filet entree. We recently had dinner there for our 5th anniversary. It was on a Wednesday evening and we were seated upstairs where it was nice and quiet with only two other tables occupied. Food as always was incredible and our waitress was super friendly and efficient. To our surprise we were treated with a complimentary creme brûlée after dinner that came out with whipped creme and a candle. A nice ending to a great dinner experience. Thank you Stoned Crab for a nice anniversary dinner. We WILL be back!!
Walking into the restaurant, we found a lively, highh energy atmosphere on the first level, However, having spent most of the day driving, we were looking for something quieter, more intimate. No problem. The host took us to the upstairs dining room. There was only one other couple seated and they were finishing. We stayed and are so glad we did. Our waitress Daphne made the evening wonderfully relaxing and pleasant. She was attentive even though she had to keep running upstairs to wait on our single table. She was friendly without being intrusive, understood the kind, understood the kind of evening we wanted, and provided great service. Hats off to the chef, too, who prepared our tuna just the way we requested.
I have heard good things about the Stoned Crab, but despite being a frequent diner in the area had never eaten there. So, we decided to try it for my dad's birthday. We had a party of 6 and arrived for our reservation at 6:15 and the host/hostess were both friendly and we were seated quickly upstairs in the nicer part of the restaurant. The first thing I noticed was that almost all of the steaks were crossed off on the menu except the filet. The second thing was they didn't offer any specials for the evening, which was especially odd since half the steaks were unavailable. The third thing was the pound of crab legs were $48.99 and I personally thought that was a bit on the high side. Our server approached the table and took our drink order, which took forever. They brought us a bread basket that was just okay and tasted very bland. I will say that everyone really enjoyed their appetizers...bacon wrapped scallops, calamari and the crab soup (despite coming out like warm). The entree ratings were mixed - the filet was good, but not fantastic, the scallops were good, my son loved his burger and the two pasta dishes were both deemed good, yet nothing special. The service was slow and we did not have dessert nor was a dessert brought out for the birthday man, I think that's first time in my life I've ever seen a restaurant not do something to recognize a special occasion. Needless to say, there are too many great restaurants for me to return to an average one.
The service was great. Unfortunately the food was not. We had bacon wrapped scallops as an appetizer. The bacon was under-cooked and like rubber. If not for the sauce it would have been below "fair" on the scale. My husband had the tuna - a little over-cooked and certainly not Sashimi grade. I had the seafood scampi. The seafood was not great, but what made this a below "fair" rating was the sauce it was in. It was essentially water with a little butter. No flavor, not garlic. We really should have sent our meals back, but we really don't like doing that.
On a good note, our server was outstanding. I wish I had her name, but I don't.
I won't be going back. Such a huge disappointment, especially for the money that we spent.
This is my first visit to Stoned Crab and I was very happy with the service and quality of the food. On my reservation I had stated we were going there to celebrate our anniversary and as soon as we arrived they told us "Happy Anniversary", which was a nice thing. The waitress offer us a glass of champagne on the house for our anniversary. Food was excellent.
My husband and I went to The Stoned Crab and were completely delighted! I'll admit, I was hoping for a slightly fancier ambience, but it was quiet and cozy and the high backed booths make you feel very secluded.
Our server, Daphne was WONDERFUL! She was very friendly and attentive and gave great recommendations, and really put in extra effort to make our evening special, but also knew the right balance of respecting our privacy.
And the food was absolutely delicious! Very fresh and beautifully cooked. The menu is concise and focused with a clear point of view but enough variety for everyone. The crab bisque is to die for! We were also surprised at how reasonable the bill was. We have definitely spent more on a lesser meal before.
I highly recommend The Stoned Crab to anyone in the area, visiting, or adventurous enough to take a drive to discover something new. And be sure to ask for Daphne!
The early bird menu is a great deal (alas we were told the promotion will terminate in September). Nice selection at very reasonable prices. Our server was fantastic for our group of eight. This is the second visit over the past two years, and I get the impression they prefer that diners order off main menu, so it is likely good thing simply to take away the early bird option -- although it may influence choice where to dine at the early time.
This is a restaurant that understands customer service. Four of us ate dinner-- two burgers and two entrees. One of the burgers was apparently overdone, and when the waitress brought the rest of our food she explained that the kitchen had to redo the burger. Even though it was not her fault, she apologized profusely, the burger was on the house, and they sent us home with a complementary dessert and a $20 gift card.
The server was the absolute best part of this experience. I sent a message alerting the kitchen I was Celiac and was assured that I would be cared for carefully. Instead I spend the rest of the day/evening doubled over in pain. Please please don't PRETEND you have an understanding of this disease if you clearly do not! The crab legs were dry and rubbery which was sad as they were meant to be a big treat. My daughter did enjoy her pasta, but the rest of our group were COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED! I will never step foot in this restaurant again.
My favorite part about our visit was the crab bisque soup. I had the crab cake which didn't taste very fresh. My friend had the lump crab over linguine which was flavorful, but the crab meat was over cooked and rubbery instead of tender. My other friend had the burger with avocado and the avocado wasn't very fresh - sort of mustard yellow/green instead of fresh green, and my other friend had the shrimp and scallop pasta entree' and the scallops tasted fishy. Overall, the service was slow, the pricing high and the food was not very fresh. the chocolate torte dessert was definitely yummy though. Don't like to leave bad reviews, but I was not entirely satisfied, especially with the cost of the entree's.
Used to love the food here....seriously has gone down hill....my meal of lump crab over pasta was tasteless and smelled un appetizing....the oil for dipping bread was cloudy and tasted rancid....best part was the salad and mohiti....very disappointed...my fiances 'S king crab was over cooked and his stuffed potato looked like the frozen store bought....what happened to this place
Went to Stoned Crab for our Anniversary dinner. Our server was Bridget and we very very impressed with how attentive and ice she was! My husband ordered the Filet and I had the Pan Seared Scallops. We shared a $5 appetizer and both had the French Onion Soup. Everything was done perfectly! Everything was delicious. If I had anything at all negative to say it would only be that the appetizer wings were very tiny and you only got five to the plate. But they were also yummy.
The waitress was great! She was pleasant and professional- which is difficult to find these days. The food was very good, but a little pricey. I'd go there again and I would recommend the restaurant for first timers to decide for themselves. You will not complain about the food or service.
