Stone Street Tavern Ratings and Reviews
A group of us went for Brunch - we had called before hand to secure a reservation, and to see if the bottomless brunch was an option, they confirmed both. We asked the cost of bottomless brunch and the time limit. They had stated the bottomless was an additional $10 per person, if an entree was purchased. This was not the case however when they presented us with the bill, they charged us $25 per person for drinks. Not a huge issue, but that was not what we had expected, I think the server we spoke to over the phone was misinformed about the bottomless offerings.
Overall, not worth the $25 + cost of entree. Food wasn't terrible, but also wasn't very warm when it was brought out, which was surprising since the restaurant was not very full. Definitely would not go back!
Randomly decided to try this place out for brunch. It was delicious! I had the veggie omelette, by friend had the Eggs Benedict, and my BF had the biscuits and gravy. All were delicious!!! Definitely recommended for brunch. I've also done a quick dinner here and loved it.
This was an absolutely horrendous experience. DO NOT go here if you have any allergies. First, the menu online is misleading and the item I expected to eat with my allergy was unavailable "for a while" according to the server. Then, I made 100% clear my dairy allergy. The dish was promptly served covered in dairy product. I sent it back and it was returned and I started to eat. At that point I realized the dish was basted in butter. I brought this to the attention of the sever. He swore to me that it was 100% dairy free. We went back and forth until I insisted he check with the kitchen. He then came back and informed me the dish was indeed covered in dairy. I eat out all the time and I am fairly desensitized to them getting the dish wrong a first time regarding allergies. But Stone Street Tavern was incredibly negligent.
Visited on a Saturday at noon for brunch. The location on Stone Street is historic; and the service was good and casual. The kitchen produced a run of the mill eggs benedict and the cider choices from the bar were also ok but not amazing. If you want casual noisy fun brunch this is a good choice. If you want quieter surroundings and better food, there are better options in the neighborhood, if not on the same street.
Came for dinner with 4 colleagues during a quick business trip to NYC. Fairly small pub that actually does remind me of some places I've visited in England. I should have stuck to beer because the wine was awful. I chose the steak salad, which was good, not great. Friends chose the pub burger (rave reviews), ahi tuna (good), and braised beef poutine (really, where's the beef?). Calamari appetizer was worthwhile. Couple beers were sampled, Tavern Pilsner was the favorite. The street where this is located is adorable. Would love to come back and try some of the other restaurants in the summer so we could sit and enjoy the outside. Overall, don't plan to return to this place
I came in with great expectations. Got our table right away, but had to wait nearly ten minutes for our server to appear. Sitting 10 minutes the server (maybe one of 2 in the whole restaurant) asked if we were ready to order....All tables were given bottles of water, our table was without. I needed to ask even for water. My colleague asked for a diet coke with lemon. In about 10 minutes she got a 3/4 filled soda, without lemon. We caught a busser and asked for lemon; he said ok and never returned. Our food appeared 10 minutes later (20 minute wait) and finally got the lemon. I'd give a lower rating had the food (steak salad, cod sandwich) not been excellent. When we asked for a check we got that in 30 seconds. Shockingly, a $5 Pepsi was on the check (1. Ordered a diet Coke; 2. $5 for a soft drink is a first for me). Also on the check were suggested tips ... 15 percent, 18 percent and 20 percent .. all calculated to the gross check including sales tax. Pretty sure the rule of thumb is to calculate tip based on product served, not tax. Maybe they are used to serving tourists and not a downtown local. Maybe I'm wrong, and the higher the sales tax, the more tip. I wish I could return and try some other items on the menu, but I was so turned off to the downsides. BTW, the check came in 30 seconds as did the processing of the credit card.
Was disappointed that the menu featured on OpenTable was not reflected in the menu they actually had. Not to mention they were out of things like apple juice and sausage. Who's out of sausage for weekend brunch? Either way, the staff was great but I was disappointed in the menu.
Had been there earlier this year. Somehow the menu looked uninspired to me this go around. No real originality and my burger was over cooked. Local NJ diners could offer similar fare and a more palatable price point. Still, good place for a quick bite in a relaxed atmosphere with a group of friends.
This tavern was a lot of fun. There is outdoor dining on Stone Street which is closed to traffic.
The street is an historic one in NYC with several restaurants nearby sharing the same block.
It has a happening vibe. The food was excellent. I had the spinach and quinoa with salmon.
The hangover burger and the Italian Job ordered by my friends were excellent too.
My first trip to the Stone Street Tavern, it's an excellent place for a crowd to partake in after work drinks or celebrate a special occasion. The food is hearty bar fare, with an emphasis on burgers which, although I didn't have one, appeared good. I went for the hanger steak which was a little small although adequately cooked. A great selection of craft beers is really what makes this place, and I had fun sampling a few!
I met a friend for lunch at their very hectic Wall Street lunch time. My friend was about 20 minutes late. The staff made me feel welcome every one of those minutes. They were great. It was a pleasure. That my friend was late put our actual time there past the peak of noise and crowd, so it all worked out. The Greek salad I had was very good. I would definitely go back, and definitely recommend this restaurant.
