Stone House Ratings and Reviews
There were three of us for a business dinner. The service, food, and drinks/wine were all very well done.
Everyone liked their wine by the glass. A Williet Manhattan was well executed, nice and dry, crisp and clear, but lacked any garnish(?). Diners had shrimp, cauliflower soup and fois gras for starters. One of us had the Chicken Milanese, which they said was delicious. Two of us had lamb cooked to chef's preference. It came out nicely charred and exactly how I like it - a touch more than rare and less than medium-rare. Desserts were also very good, and the cookie bag gift we received on the way out was also a nice surprise.
I'm giving them an outstanding overall and, and very good for everything else. I could conceivably give them an outstanding for everything. It was a very nice dinner for 3. The tab was $280 before the tip.
Was looking forward to a nice brunch with the family. The restaurant atmosphere is very nice and there was live music which was a nice touch. The server, although nice was not very good- I asked him if a particular dish was served with anything - he said he didn't think so but wasn't sure but never came back. I then was served the dish with sides that I couldn't eat due to dietary restrictions. That said, he was very accommodating and did bring me some different sides, which were actually very good and very nice portions (no extra charge). Also had to ask for coffee a few times, as well as salt and pepper. My family thought food was just ok- very overpriced - probably could get a better meal at one of your standard pancake houses or at a diner....
When we walked in the hostess didn’t seem like she needed to be bothered with us, then two nice young ladies took our coats and showed us to the table, while the other woman was still staring at a computer screen. (Maybe a Hello or welcome would have been nice)
Food was mediocre at best.
Watching the chef in the middle of the line use his bare hands for everything was very unappetizing, with his bracelet and chains touching everything. Then using a towel to clean his hands. We saw him plug in his phone right on the line - germ city!
I have had better calamari at Fridays. It was noisy and hard to hear. The bread was great!
Pork entree was tough but the sauce, spinach, and sweet potato were very good. Very uninspired plating, very old school.
Caramel ice cream was very tasty, but cookie was rock hard and the chocolate marquise cake looked and tasted like it was bought frozen.
The wine was very good!
Went on November 1st for our 30 th Anniversary and had a great meal. We've been here about 5 times and always have great food with an excellent atmosphere. The waiter was great !!! The menue was great !!! Glad we only live 20 minutes away, but I would drive longer to get here.
This was our 4th time to Stone House, and we were slightly disappointed. The menu did not have the usual seasonal flair that we had expected. We sat outdoors, as the evening was lovely. Seating, ambiance, and atmosphere were great. The clam appetizer was perfect, and our cocktails were well made.
Our entrees were a step down, as my wife's filet was overcooked, and my sirloin needed seasoning.
Overall, the meal was fine, but we are accustomed to far greater than fine at this establishment.
Something changed at this restaurant. Visited several times in past, always enjoyed it, which is why I returned.
Last night was not good, nearly empthy, prices higher than in past, yet quality of food was poor.
I had the soft shell crab, which was not on menu as an entree, however our waitress was nice to ask the chef, and I was accommodated. A mistake to order. It was heavy w batter, fried and very greasy. I actually couldn't eat it, and left more than half my dish. They packed up my food, which at home I discarded.
All evening thereafter I was uncomfortable, the food set in my stomach like a rock. I must add I have a very strong stomach, but upon returning home, I had to take a digestive. Both of our dishes were also salty.
Our waitress was nice, the salad was plenary and delicious, so was the bread. A nice touch, the restaurant sew us off w a little goodie bag of some cookies.
Very mixed feelings, nice athmosfere, but definitely not fine dining. My entree was more like greasy diner food.
This was our third visit and we introduced friends to the restaurant this time. Everyone was very satisfied. Our waiter was excellent. The staff was accommodating including changing our table at our request. Cocktails and wine list are excellent, menu is interesting and preparation and presentation are terrific. Salads, short ribs, pasta dishes and osso Bucco were all excellent
Wonderful atmosphere from the moment you are greeted at the front desk, to the experience at the table till the moment you leave the restaurant.
Steve, our server, was spot on with each of his recommendations for wine selection and food. It was clear Steve has an excellent grasp of their menus. The salmon and steak dishes we ordered were delightful.
While we didn't sit there on this evening the patio and patio bar are a wonderful way to spend ane evening when the weather is pleasant.
We went to this restaurant for a date night and we liked it so much we went back two days later for Sunday brunch with the whole family. The beef bolognese is delicious and the chicken and waffles for brunch are excellent! They have a bocce ball court in the back that's great for kids to play.
We had brunch. They started us out with an assortment of breads (Corn Bread, Roll, Scone, ect.) with jelly was perfect touch. I ordered the the chicken and waffles which were amazing & my girlfriend had the shrimp and grits, which were good, but nothing compared to the chix & waffles. We added sides of homefries and bacon which were also great. She had one of the cocktail specials a $5 white sangria (was a bit sparkling, she liked a lot, but I'm partial to the more traditional version, but it was refreshing!) I had a bourbon old fashioned and was also really good. The bill came $85 with tip (well worth for food, cocktails & service) and I would return and recommend to a friend. Staff was friendly and attentive and we sat outside and vibe was perfect especially with amazing September weather. We're a mid 30's couple.
The atmosphere is wonderful. Outdoor seating is fantastic and family friendly. I can't wait to take my daughter for the s'mores! I enjoyed the food, but the portions are small. There is definitely a mark-up and I paid a good deal more for food that I could get elsewhere. If cost isn't a problem, then you are good to go!
We may have had an unusual experience since my wife and I visited mid-week on a rainy evening. Nonetheless, it was very pleasant and the food and service were very good. It is obvious from the outdoor bar and patio that the place would be great fun for a large group on a good weather evening.
