Stone House Ratings and Reviews
Food and ambiance was quite nice, as it always is. On this visit, the service was not all that great. Perhaps because it was a slow night (COLD Thursday night, 630pm, very few diners), the servers changed in the middle of the meal and the special occasion (birthday) was forgotten by the wait staff .
I spoke with the second waiter, who spoke with the manager, and he comp'ed the dessert, which was nice of him to do (though to be honest, expected at these prices). I would have appreciated the manager coming out himself or perhaps offering a candle and cake after the fact.
Will I be back? Yes. The place is quite nice and the food is generally quite well prepared (the potatoes on my salmon dish were a little overdone but that's a little nit-picky). But i would appreciate if the service were a little better next time.
The Stone House is a beautifully decorated restaurant with wonderful ambiance. Some of the food we ordered, like the skirt steak, was wonderfully delicious. While other items, like the fresh mozzarella with cold grilled vegetables, simply fell flat. The service was fine, nothing bad but nothing special, but the value for what you get is poor. It's definitely better suited for a more pretentious crowd.
We got seated quickly with welcoming hosts but waited 10 minutes for menu. We got the wine menu prior but we both were not drinking so it felt longer waiting for the food menu. Other than that, our experience was great and our server accommodated our substitutes on our sides. Steaks were phenomenal!
The restaurant was ready for our 8:00 reservation when we got there a few minutes early. We were seated quickly and our waiter came over immediately. For an appetizer we had the wild boar baby back ribs and the romaine salad. Both were delicious. For our entrees we had the pork porterhouse and the skirt steak. Again both meals were out of this world. The skirt steak with the Cabernet sauce is 👍🏻 . The whole bill was a little pricey but for a special occasion and only once in a while it’s very much worth it.
I have been there before and really enjoyed it. I remembered it being a very special experience. Today, however, the food was mostly cold and flavorless. For four of us with drinks the bill was over $300 and, quite frankly, it was just an OK meal and experience. I left disappointed and feeling like they did not do their best job this evening. They can do much better.
We celebrated our anniversary with a Sunday Brunch. The waitstaff perfect, no hovering but certainly attentive. Think the brunch is the best value, as dinners are quite expensive. I just loved the architecture and ambience. It reminded me of Aspen. The smoked trout hash was heavenly!
Everything from the food to the drinks was delicious here. The waiters were very nice but seemed very disorganized. They really need to work on training the staff better and staying on top of them. This would’ve had a five star review if it wasn’t for that. Deafly worth a try!
The valet didn’t give any indication on where to enter or pull our car to the side. The service was very slow (we had been seated without a drink menu for 10 minutes before our server came by), inattentive (my water glass sat empty throughout the entire meal), and unfriendly. The food was disappointing and overpriced for what we got. I ordered a pasta dish and it was less pasta than I would give my 1 year old for lunch.
Thank you for the last minute changed in accommodating the private chef dining room as I was informed the day before our reservation was no longer available even though I had reserved it in advanced. The disappointment turned into a surprised for me, my family and most especially for my brother's birthday.
The brunch/lunch was delicious, ambiance holiday setting was festive and service was great!
Looking forward to dining again.
Three of us dined on Thanksgiving. It was our first visit but it won't be our last. I was concerned that the high price and limited menu would lead to disappointment. I was unduly concerned. The two filets were prepared perfectly to our order. The turkey was excellent and ample (I should hope so!) Service was excellent without being over attentive. A wonderful meal from start to finish, but it was pricy.
There were three of us for a business dinner. The service, food, and drinks/wine were all very well done.
Everyone liked their wine by the glass. A Williet Manhattan was well executed, nice and dry, crisp and clear, but lacked any garnish(?). Diners had shrimp, cauliflower soup and fois gras for starters. One of us had the Chicken Milanese, which they said was delicious. Two of us had lamb cooked to chef's preference. It came out nicely charred and exactly how I like it - a touch more than rare and less than medium-rare. Desserts were also very good, and the cookie bag gift we received on the way out was also a nice surprise.
I'm giving them an outstanding overall and, and very good for everything else. I could conceivably give them an outstanding for everything. It was a very nice dinner for 3. The tab was $280 before the tip.
Was looking forward to a nice brunch with the family. The restaurant atmosphere is very nice and there was live music which was a nice touch. The server, although nice was not very good- I asked him if a particular dish was served with anything - he said he didn't think so but wasn't sure but never came back. I then was served the dish with sides that I couldn't eat due to dietary restrictions. That said, he was very accommodating and did bring me some different sides, which were actually very good and very nice portions (no extra charge). Also had to ask for coffee a few times, as well as salt and pepper. My family thought food was just ok- very overpriced - probably could get a better meal at one of your standard pancake houses or at a diner....
When we walked in the hostess didn’t seem like she needed to be bothered with us, then two nice young ladies took our coats and showed us to the table, while the other woman was still staring at a computer screen. (Maybe a Hello or welcome would have been nice)
Food was mediocre at best.
Watching the chef in the middle of the line use his bare hands for everything was very unappetizing, with his bracelet and chains touching everything. Then using a towel to clean his hands. We saw him plug in his phone right on the line - germ city!
I have had better calamari at Fridays. It was noisy and hard to hear. The bread was great!
Pork entree was tough but the sauce, spinach, and sweet potato were very good. Very uninspired plating, very old school.
Caramel ice cream was very tasty, but cookie was rock hard and the chocolate marquise cake looked and tasted like it was bought frozen.
The wine was very good!
Went on November 1st for our 30 th Anniversary and had a great meal. We've been here about 5 times and always have great food with an excellent atmosphere. The waiter was great !!! The menue was great !!! Glad we only live 20 minutes away, but I would drive longer to get here.
