The service was great! Food was excellent and we celebrated my birthday, they put “Happy 18th Birthday” on the menus and then gave one to us with a ribbon as a souvenir. Definitely coming back and recommending!
Sunday brunch with girls! Patient waiter as we took a while to order. Eggs Benedict was good although hollandaise sauce was minimal. Hash browns were amazing. Food came out almost too quickly and wasn’t hot which is a pet peeve of mine. Free plate of assorted breakfast pastries was a nice touch. Coffee wasn’t hot and tasted bitter. Great atmosphere and live music!
Stonehouse never fails to impress! The manager Andrea is amazing and the staff is always incredibly attentive.
Loved the look of the restaurant. Very rustic and the views are beautiful thru the floor to ceiling windows. The food was excellent, something for everyone. Pear salad outstanding as was the braised short rib. The service was excellent. My only complaint is it gets very loud due to larger groups sitting right by you. Will go back.
I was a bit disappointed in the food. Having read other recent reviews about the food being under-seasoned, I brought my own sea salt with me and was glad to have it. Hubby had the tuna tartare app. and it was delicious once we added some salt. I had a good tuna Au Poivre, although the pepper was a little overwhelming because it was extremely coarse, crunchy even. This was served on mashed potatoes which were reminiscent of KFC's instant mashed. Also with no seasoning. Hubby also had the braised short rib, recommended by our server Oscar (who was fantastic!) but it was a bit on the dry side. I'm not sure if the kitchen staff was overwhelmed. There were 2 wedding receptions taking place at the same time, with a busy dining room.
Looks like a fantastic venue for a wedding! Overall, it was very pricey and IMO, not worth it for the quality of the food.
I'll definitely give it another chance during warm weather. The outside dining area looks beautiful and the food will probably improve once the on-site garden is providing its bounty to the menu.
Excellent food as always. The new burger with the new executive chef is phenomenal. Sushi is great as well!
Great food! Did a great job for my mom's 83rd Birthday!
Been there many times, the place has really gone down hill. Some of the food was not good (butternut squash soup was very sweet and risotto was not fully cooked), three items on the menu were not available, service was terrible (had to pour our own wine and water). Overall a bad experience, will find a better place next time.
Extremely disappointed as the food tasted more like flash boiled fast food with sauce thrown on top. no evidence of a flame & basically tasteless. Drinks also came out wrong so huge let down compared to the past there.
Proposed to girlfriend on Saturday and made reservations for dinner. We walked in and were seated right away. Everything was OK and no major problems with the place. That being said, I ordered the ribeye which needed salt. This place doesn't have slat and pepper on the table so we were forced to ask our server for some. His reaction was questionable at besrvalmoat like a how dare you ask for salt kind of thing. We let that slide and went on with our night. I had their signature gin and tonic and my fiancé had an iced tea. When the server came back to ask if I wanted another drink he didn't refill the iced tea or ask if she wanted another one. When he came around again he asked if she would like more tea. At this point it was towards the end of the meal so when he asks she's hesitates for a. Osment to think about what else she would want. After a few seconds of her thinking he chimes in, "well do you want some more iced tea? It's free." we look at each other had think did he really just say that? We each just ordered a 65 dollar steak and thinks we are worried about a free refill? It seemed like an inappropriate thing to say to a customer and was in fact pretty rude to hear. If we were dining for a special occasion I probably would have said something but just let it slide. In short the place was very nice but in our case service was defiantly sub par. My steak was cooked perfectly but seams they were a little shy when it came to seasoning. Just put the salt and pepper on the table and don't assume your food is perfect. I probably wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Food lacked flavor. Service was good. Prices are high for the quality of food. Our friends steak ordered med. well was vet over cooked. Other food was flavorless.
First I must say that Stone House is one of my wife and I’s favorite restaurants to go and have a great meal. From the ambiance, the staff, great drinks and food. This go around we were not at all impressed with the food. Their clams that we both love were missing ingredients that were clearly stated on the menu. My cavatelli punttanesca was subpar at best. I’m not sure what type of olives were used but they overpowered the entire dish. My wife had filet mignon which is usually one of the best in the area, but this time it was just off and didn’t have the great texture and taste we’ve become used too when going to Stone House. Her mashed potatoes where bland and reminded me the instant kind that comes in a box. The spinach and garlic side was also bland and flavorless as well. Are waiter who was awesome by the way.. did let us know they have a new chef on staff which makes a lot of sense. Still a great restaurant, but I’m hoping this new chef steps up his game so we don’t have to find a new favorite local restaurant.
Service was outstanding! Food was great as always.
I found the ambiance and food to be a "Wow". The Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.
They went out of their way to make my fiance and I very comfortable. We had the Salmon and Trout Special which were both outstanding. For Dessert we had the Sorbet Trio which was made in-house and was very flavorful .
Overall, I would recommend the Stonehouse for a date night or special occasion .
They even give you a small to go bag with homemade cookies.
We came with a group of six for birthday celebrations for three of us. We had done so a couple of years ago and had a great experience. So we decided to give it a go a second time, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant excelled in almost every way, from the seating to the staff, the personalized birthday menus, the service the delicious food, the attention to details, and even the gift of cookies as we departed. We had one party member who has a very restricted diet due to diabetes, and the staff was very attentive and helpful for whatever they were asked to do for that individual. One of our party mentioned that the portions were kind of small, but the food was delicious. I was looking forward to the Strawberry- Rhubarb dessert that was shown on the website. However, I was disappointed when it wasn't on the evening dessert menu, but the substitute I chose proved to be almost as good as the anticipated. All in all, we would highly recommend the Stone House. I know we will certainly be back again.
Excellent food prep and presentation. Solicitous service, except bar - slow. Adequate portions, not generous. Pricey steaks. Spacious, wood/stone modern ambiance. Looking forward to returning in warm weather to enjoy outdoor space for an alfresco meal.
3rd time there, came away thinking it'll be the last. $250 for 2 with tip for decent steaks, 2-3 beers, a glass of wine and dessert. Really? Skip
Very disappointed with our second visit to Stone House. My husband and I had our first visit in November 2017 to celebrate our anniversary and raved about the food, drinks and services to everyone and couldn't wait to go back. So we decided to go back last weekend to celebrate my birthday. During this visit, the menu selections were not as exciting and seem ordinary, we had the tuna tartar and calamari for apps but were just okay, not really flavorful. My husband had the swordfish and I had he ribeye for dinner, both were average at best, the steak was bland. The last visit that had a buratta mozz, tom and prosciutto app and fogra that was amazing and we were hoping to get this again during this visit :( I'm so sad b/c I thought we had found our new favorite place but the search continues.
We got married here a year ago and had instantly fallen in love. We couldn’t think of a better place to spend our first anniversary! Our waitress, Victoria, and the additional staff were so kind, friendly and all willing to help each other out. The food is always exceptional.
As usual, it’s the perfect neighborhood gem.
Decided to go there for my fiancee and her sisters birthday. I reserved through open table and I stated it was their birthday in the special request area. When we arrived all the menus for our party were printed specifically with the celebrants names on them saying happy birthday. As little as it is it was a great touch for a celebration. We went for brunch and the food was great along with the service. There was also a love band to accompany the festive mood. The outside area was still closed for the winter but definitely need to come back to see it open. Great experience and great restaurant.
We had not been to Stone House previously and were looking for a fun brunch option. The menu online as well as the property photos and reviews were appealing, so we decided to give it a try for brunch this past Sunday. The food was delicious and well presented. Bloody Mary's at $5 was just a solid bonus. The service was attentive and friendly. We look forward to returning and would recommend to friends as a solid option.
Appetizers were good, dinner portions were very dry.
Absolutely phenomenal! Will definitely return! The steak app was to die for. We moved to the bar area for the live music and can't wait to go back.
Always a great meal !
Reserved for Valentine's Day dinner with my wife. Place was understandably crowded and very busy. While waiting at the bar, the service and drinks were both good. When seated, the appetizer was very good, salad was also very nice. For dinner I had the strip steak ($64) and my wife had the chicken. The steak was somewhat overcooked, but what surprised me most was the poor quality...tough and cut thin like a supermarket steak. Not at all what I would expect for NYC steakhouse prices. Mashed potatoes were room temperature. The mushrooms were very nice. My wife's chicken was just plain dry. My ice cream sandwich dessert was served on a warm plate that melted the ice cream. Nothing special. Service at the table was good. The place is predominantly a function venue and the entrees definitely left a wedding food imp-ression. Don't think I will be back.
Wide variety of food. Service was excellent and it was her birthday. They even prepared a birthday menu for us and put a candle in the desert. The lamb was excellent.
Food was great, when inquiring about wines, manager was able to assist us in picking out exactly what we wanted. Service was excellent.
Excellent dinner. Great food, service and atmosphere.
Service was amazing. And food was exceptional! Never disappoints
Excellent on all accounts
Great food, excellent service.
Brunch was wonderful. Thank you for the great service
Service was terrible. Very slow. 2hours for dinner. Food was good though. A little pricey however
The service wasn't great and the restaurant wasn't crowded. Waiters forgot drinks, no plates for the appetizers. Had to keep asking for these things. Spent a lot of money there, but will not be back. Very disappointed
We are always treated like family here. The variety and quality of the fare here is remarkable.
We had been to Stone House before, this being our second visit, we were disappointed and most likely won't be going back for a third. The service was slowwwww. Taking 20 minutes or more to get a menu, and another 20 before our drink order was served. Two out of three meals had to be returned as the protein was under cooked. We ended the meal with a glass of red wine poured onto my husbands lap as rushed wait staff attempted to clear the table. The staff and manager on duty seemed less that apologetic. Casually dropping a card on the table and telling us to contact them if the shirt remains ruined. Blah and Meh....would think twice before returning.
Food and ambiance was quite nice, as it always is. On this visit, the service was not all that great. Perhaps because it was a slow night (COLD Thursday night, 630pm, very few diners), the servers changed in the middle of the meal and the special occasion (birthday) was forgotten by the wait staff .
I spoke with the second waiter, who spoke with the manager, and he comp'ed the dessert, which was nice of him to do (though to be honest, expected at these prices). I would have appreciated the manager coming out himself or perhaps offering a candle and cake after the fact.
Will I be back? Yes. The place is quite nice and the food is generally quite well prepared (the potatoes on my salmon dish were a little overdone but that's a little nit-picky). But i would appreciate if the service were a little better next time.
The chef is awesome!
