Stone House Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I both had the peppercorn filet mignon. His was cooked perfectly, however mine was slightly overdone. The French Onion Soup was the best I’ve ever had. The wine list was very disappointing, if you like a dry red and I do. Good service and atmosphere. This was our second time and it was not as good as the first , however it won’t be our last. It was very busy and we didn’t feel rushed or felt any lack of attention.
We 3 women booked a Saturday lunch to celebrate our friend's birthday. We asked for a quiet
booth and were given a lovely booth tucked away in the corner with complete privacy. The service was fast and efficient, the food delicious (warm salad with grilled chicken) and as a
bonus the server had put "Happy birthday" confetti on the table for our arrival. Bonus #2 - a piece of delicious home-made cheesecake with candle at the end of the meal for the birthday
girl - no - charge. We were very impressed and would definitely go back.
Wonderful staff, very helpful with my disabled mother. One young woman actually came outside to help my elderly father scrape snow off his car windows. Food was quite good (though not exceptional) and portions were unnecessarily huge (I don’t really like having to take half my meal home) and not all that beautifully presented given the price. I’m quite happy to spend money for a great restaurant experience but I think the Stone House needs a bit of refinement. The layout was excellent and there were lots of booths which allowed for cozy private dining. I would definitely go back but would request a smaller portion and perhaps try out the lunch menu.
Service was excellent and attentive. Food was very good. The prix fix is a nice option and the menu range is very good. The restaurant has plenty of space and is quiet compared to many others. I had hoped it would be well decorated for Christmas but that was disappointing. It was a get-together just before Christmas. We had planned on the sister restaurant in Jordan but due to weather forecasts we changed our booking. That restaurant is said to be lovely at Christmas so hopefully next year. The food is very similar with some of the same menu options so we were not disappointed and enjoyed our dinner experience.
I had the crab cakes as an appetizer. They were nice. My friend and I had the catch of the day which was blue fish with gorgonzola sauce and a lobster tail. The breaded fish was burnt and didn’t have a pleasant taste. My friend complained and had her bill adjusted for the burnt fish. I didn’t say anything and took the leftovers home which were thrown in the garbage. I regret not saying anything and feel I over paid for 1/4 litre of wine, crab cakes and burnt fish which I couldn’t eat for $75.
Was there to celebrate a milestone birthday. Hostess appeared after we were seated and scattered some birthday confetti on table. Food was excellent and Vanessa was great, bringing a piece of birthday dessert . Expensive but worth it. Only negative was group in a side room next to our table and were clapping etc. Door should maybe be closed for groups. I would definitely return when next in town.
Stone house is one of our favourite restaurants. For the first time, I said yes, this is a special occasion, our anniversary. It was very nice—the hostess decorated our table with heart confetti, and we were surprised after our delicious meal with a complementary piece of cheesecake. That was really nice.
We had the smoked duck risotto and Caesar salad, so good. Sorry that the roasted red pepper hummus no longer accompanies the bread. Vanessa gave us great service.
The service was excellent. Our waiter, Stuart, was very friendly & helpful. He answered all our questions & went out of his way to fill our requests. Most of the food was good. However my friend ordered her prime rib well done & even said no pink. It was not only pink but was partly red. She did receive a free desert. I ordered the beef tenderloin fettuccine. Overall it was delicious but the beef was not very tender. I felt it was over riced for the quality of the food.
I used Open Table to book a luncheon to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Staff set up the table appropriately and made sure the event was well managed. My thanks to staff for their professionalism. Stone house is where I will go again when a special occasion occurs.
The Stone House never lets us down. We are from Kitchener Waterloo area and we always reserve seating there when we are meeting friends from Niagara and Toronto. It's very easy to find and the food is always wonderful. Yesterday's experience was perfect. I was meeting a few classmates from nursing school and we graduated 52 years ago. There were only 4 nurses who could make it and we were seated in a corner booth that allowed us to reacquaint ourselves after so many years. The staff was wonderful and we did not feel rushed. We all agreed this will be our permanent meeting place for future get togethers. Thank you Stone House staff.
