Erin, the hostess, was incredible. Very helpful and had the answers to any questions I asked. She was very pleasant, informative and made my experience there even better. The food was great, the warm crab and crostini appetizer was excellent. We will be back.
First time for brunch. Nice variety of breakfast or lunch items on menu. Smoked salmon eggs Benedict and French Toast with fruit were amazing. Sitting on porch on summer day just made the experience better. Brett was attentive and informative as our server. Definitely will be back to sample more items during brunch. Bloody Mary was delicious, nice amount of horshradish!
Always delicious food & stellar service.
This restaurant has been a favorite of mine for many years.
Wonderful staff, so this review doesn’t reflect my waiter; he was great. My tuna was over cooked, burnt on the outside. So dry. I asked for it as rare as possible, but even if I accepted medium rare it would have been considered overlooked. Noodles also dry. Nothing actually tied the dish together. I ate 4 bites before giving up. Busboy took the plate that way and didn’t even ask if there was anything wrong with it. My husbands scallops were better.
My ribs were so fatty and not much meet. Menu has changed but not for the good. I will need to make a change asI used to love coming here. They have changed many items.
Where do I begin? Had a reservation and was told upon arrival that the wait for sitting and eating outside was an hour and a half (we asked to sit outside on the reservation). We decided that that was too long so we said we would sit inside. The hostess told us there would still be a wait because the kitchen was backed up even though all the seats in the dining room were not taken. We went to the bar and then waited 10-15 minutes for the bartender to take an order and there were only two other people at the bar. We were beyond irritated and let the wait staff know and they did nothing about it. In fact they were outright dismissive. When we finally got seated in the dining room we asked about dining outside and our server told us that you are not able to order food outside (totally in conflict with the hour and a half wait that they originally offered us). It really is unfortunate that the staff was completely inexperienced and ineffective because the food was good. When you are paying these kind of prices the staff should be much better trained. We tried to salvage the night and go outside for a drink and hear the band play but the server took so long to get our check that we missed the last song and it was over by the time we got out there.
The food was terrible.
Great atmosphere outdoors, fun & vibrant. Food was just OK, not amazing.
Celebrated our 1 year anniversary here. The hostess and our server greeted us by saying happy anniversary. Goes a long way when you feel like you're being treated personally. The service was great (Luis J.) And the staff in the dining room were on top of everything. I ordered the short ribs and it came out perfect. The meat fell right off the bone, polenta had good flavor from the goat cheese, and the carrots weren't overdone. My wife got the sea scallops and that came out just as perfect. Not overdone and the corn polenta added great flavor.
Whether it be a romantic dinner, brunch, lunch, or special occasion; I highly recommend stonehouse. The "memory makers" will go above and beyond to personalize every experience.
My absolute favorite restaurant. Whether it's sitting outdoors in the summer, or enjoying the cozy interior in the colder months, the ambiance, food, and service is always exceptional!
Food was even better than I remembered. It was a relaxing quiet night sitting up near the kitchen. The only issues was that we went there so that we could sit outside and they told us the outside was closed. That was disappointing because the outdoor area is wonderful. I’d suggest calling ahead
Wonderful service and food!
It was our first visit and it met or exceeded our expectation. We were pleasantly surprised to receive cookies as we left. They were delicious too.
One of my favorite restaurants, my family and I enjoyed this place every time we go there , the staff is absolutely great and the food as well .
Seated near the open kitchen was an entertaining experience. This place can be loud and not because of the patrons. It was a rainy Fathers Day night and the cavernous modern cabin decor echoed the yelling in the kitchen so much that the waitress needed to ask us to repeat our orders.
The service was unprofessional at best. We split a mussels appetizer which had a generous sauce and large bread croutons for dipping. Delicious. But, despite a large serving for two no serving utensils were provided and only side bread plates. After asking for something to serve a somewhat small soup spoon was provided and then after an inquisitive look from me another similar spoon. But, what do we do with the shells, I inquired. A smallish plate arrived and then at my urging another.
Dinner was very good. In fact if the service matched the food we’d be raving.
Desert was another unique waitress experience. Out waitress gave us menus and made some recommendations. We looked over the menus, decided on a desert and closed the menus on the table. This is when it got weird. The waitress from the next table. Didn’t ask, didn’t take our order, but told us she was going to take our menus and did to the next table. When our waitress arrived to take our order she inquired “where are your menus” to which I responded, “your colleague took them away and gave them to her table”. Our waitress inquired “did she take your order?” No she didn’t, for the price you expect a better experience
Everyone was very pleasantly unprofessional. I am glad that I wasn’t entertaining clients.
Pricey but incredible food!
Stone House is one of our goto places for dinner on the weekends. We decided this time to bring a larger group for a Friday night. It was great as always. Our server Oscar made the evening. He was very attentive to our table. The food was served hot and tasted great. If I would have to make a recommendation is that the Manhattan I had was not really the best. The bourbon was a little diluted with too much vermouth. We have had better before on our drinks. I guess it just may of been an off night at the bar. I settle for a straight bourbon.
We were celebrating our first anniversary of having our wedding in the Lodge.
Fantastic meal and superb service!
we had adrink at the outdoor bar. Weather wsa perfect. Staff was wonderful. No one rushed us Our meal was great. Not inexpensive but a lot of are not. Cant wait to go back
Another great experience, celebrating a birthday. Enjoyed sitting outside at the bar prior to our dinner. Staff is attentive and provide superior service. We were Raziya's first customer and she was outstanding. Knowledgeable and friendly. Grilled Octopus was fabulous to start and the scallops and salmon did not disappoint. Nice wine by the glass too for those who don't want a full bottle. We will be back!
I have been dining at Stone House for years. Prices have gone up over the years but recently seem to have taken a giant leap. While prices have risen, food quality and service have not improved to justify the price increases. Given the recent big jump in prices, it is not likely that I will be going back.
We had a delicious salmon and half chicken. We also had a vegetable ravioli. This was a amazing food and personally I loved the salmon.
Service was slow and they forgot to bring a glass of wine we ordered but then comped the wine charge. Dinner was really delayed but maitre’d came over in the end and apologized.
Easter dinner - great food, especially for a buffet. I liked our table but would not have been happy sitting in the room where the food was located. It reminded me of a wedding.
We had reservations and out table was not ready for 25 minutes past the Rez. The white wine was warm. The food took an hour and 45 min. Had 8 pm Rez got food at 10 pm. The server was no where to be found. Food finally came cold and not cooked to order. Overall very bad experience.
It’s been a few years since we’ve been here but hubby and I wanted to come back given our pleasant experience years ago. We ended up getting seated 45 min after our open table reservation. And didn’t end up getting our main course until another hour later. It seems like a one-off unfortunately situation. Our waitress was terrific and the hostesses were apologetic but helpless and manager came by later and comped us for the meal. We insisted on getting charged something so we could take care of our waitress - it wasn’t her fault. But I don’t think I’ll come back for a while since there are so many other great options near where we are like Summit House and Jockey Hollow and several others. But eventually we’ll probably come back because food is actually decent and location is beautiful. Very noisy though but overall ambience is ok.
While the atmosphere was nice, the menu was fairly ordinary and the food was just ok. Not as good as other choices at similar price points.
Very nice place but food was super salty and service was slow
I used to love this place. I won’t be back after tonight. 4 of us each had an entree, split 2 appetizers that were literally both a combined total of 4 pieces of sushi (one bite for each of us), one soup, 3 coffees, one glass of wine. Bill was $67 for each. The entrees were average at best - one salmon, 2 duck, one scallops. The service - the water guy kept interrupting every 2 seconds stopping our conversation to ask if we wanted more water but our waiter was never around. The one glass of wine they poured from a bottle of Joel Gotts- really ? average food, cheap wine, non-existent service. You’d expect better at those prices. Wow. What a bust.
Birthday Celebration. I love the romantic feel to the restaurant. Peaceful and tranquil. I look forward to enjoying the outdoor bar and fire pit in the near future.
Great atmosphere and food!
Today was the first time I have ever been disappointed at the service. The extra wine glasses were never removed from the table therefor making it crowded. After getting our appetizers our plates sat there until I stacked them in the middle. I would have drank more wine but the waiter was missing in action. So disappointing
We were recommended Stone House as a top restaurant and since it was our anniversary we gave it a try. We got there at our appointed reservation time to find our table was not ready and it would be about a 15 min wait. This turned into a 40min wait with no explanation as to why it was taking so long given we had a reservation. We were not alone as another group behind us also had to wait a similar length of time. Clearly SH find this acceptable practice. Eventually we were seated next to a door to a patio area but told not to worry as nobody would be going out through the door. Not so. Several staff continually went in and out. Being early April it was a cold wind. The one bright spot was our server was excellent and very attentive. The food was good but not outstanding. Considering it arrived now 90 min after our arrival not what I would call a fine dining experience. We will not be back.
We had a lovely evening with good friends, good food and good drinks! Service was great.
We will come back.
Food, service and atmosphere was great. The place is beautiful. We came a little early to have drinks, and our only disappointment was that even with the weather very nice, the outdoor bar was still closed. To make matters worse the indoor bar in the restaurant was jam packed full with a wedding party. We were initially forced to try to order drinks and then go sit outside where there was no service and the outdoor seating area had not been cleaned up from the last time the outdoor bar was open.
Historically my favorite local restaurant in NJ. I would be shocked if I haven’t been here over a hundred times. Friday during my wife’s birthday celebration the waiter said after we entered our appetizer order that it wouldn’t be submitted Until we placed our entree order.
Frankly I don’t write reviews but that was so strange. When I told him that made no sense he said it is more efficient for the kitchen.
I’m not mad. I was actually comical. I hope that efficiency is worth loosing a ten year customer and a huge promoter.
Char, Water and Wine and Luke’s will have to be my new go to when I don’t want to drive to Salt or Clydes because when you drop $250 on dinner it’s MY way or the highway !
Stone house was great...the food was good, the service was great, the staff was attentive and polite
Couple who joined my wife & I for dinner were not happy with the way steak was cut. My friends wife grew up on a ranch in Texas & commented that steaks become chewy & tough to eat when they are cut against the grain. I don’t think our server understood or even provided the feedback to chef else expected him at our table. Server & his helpers had no clue as to the difference between a regular spoon vs soup spoon when my wife asked for it. Overall not likely to go back
Made a reservation for 8:15, sat at table at 9:15.
What’s the purpose of a reservation??????
