The food was excellent - prepared and served extremely well. Service was good. Meal was pricey, but one gets what one pays for.
Food was delicious. Service was surprisingly slow. I’ve dined here a few times now and was surprised at how different of an experience it was. My date waited 15 minutes for his drink, yet our bottle of wine came out right away. His sushi came out without soy sauce and we waited again for a decent amount of time prior to getting it. They continually apologized throughout dinner. It was noisy being right by the kitchen but that’s the atmosphere. There was a cold draft any time the door was open but otherwise it was a nice dinner.
Great food and ambiance. Will definitely come back soon.
Service was way off. Our server reprimanded me when I commented that I thought he'd forgotten about us. And this is a direct quote, "Sweetheart, I am very busy." Hmmm. I will say that I approached the manager and he handled the situation swiftly and appropriately. We had been at the table for 2.5 hours before we were offered a dessert menu. And believe me, it wasn't for lack of trying to get our servers attention! While it was a pleasure to spend this time with an old friend, the pace of the meal was torturously slow. The food was good, but not great. I always want to love this place, but it seems every time I go there is one problem or another. I'll keep trying though, as I love the location and ambiance! Especially in the warmer months!
Food was superb, drinks were a bit over priced... ambiance was good, but no reservations for outdoor area. Overall s good experience
The food wasn't good as I expected and the they were not accommodating
So disappointed with the brunch! I’ve had dinner here many times and it’s always been so good!
My omelette was tasteless, I ordered a side of fruit - I think the waiter should have mentioned it came with fruit - and the 4th person at our table got his meal way after the rest of us, with a very over done steak.
Reservation and was seated on time now waiting, staff was very good, price was a little high, was not rushed. No regular coffee available.
Have been to stonehouse several times. This time table was not set up at reservation time. Had to wait a good 15 minutes. Front desk staff was aloof and texting. Server was nice and accommodating but busy so took him a while to check in. Food was great as usual. It was a busy day but was expecting better service.
Took family for Easter dinner. Beautiful restaurant in a scenic location. Great food and a great wine list.
Low key Easter dinner. Very nice
Easter Brunch! Everyone loved the choices abd the venue! We will definitely come back.
We go to the Stone House every year for Easter and Mother’s Day brunch. Always an enjoyable experience.
Excellent, yet pricey brunch. Would definitely go again.
Great food and friendly staff - would recommend for any occasion
This restaurant never fails to please.
Food was average (bland food with no server coming and asking if we needed salt, peeper or cheese). Cocktails were good! Service was OK, felt like they wanted us out of there quickly (we definitely felt rushed into ordering and paying). Won't be going here. Feels like another scenic restaurant in NJ who uses the great location to serve expensive but mediocre food.
The service was great! Food was excellent and we celebrated my birthday, they put “Happy 18th Birthday” on the menus and then gave one to us with a ribbon as a souvenir. Definitely coming back and recommending!
Sunday brunch with girls! Patient waiter as we took a while to order. Eggs Benedict was good although hollandaise sauce was minimal. Hash browns were amazing. Food came out almost too quickly and wasn’t hot which is a pet peeve of mine. Free plate of assorted breakfast pastries was a nice touch. Coffee wasn’t hot and tasted bitter. Great atmosphere and live music!
Stonehouse never fails to impress! The manager Andrea is amazing and the staff is always incredibly attentive.
Loved the look of the restaurant. Very rustic and the views are beautiful thru the floor to ceiling windows. The food was excellent, something for everyone. Pear salad outstanding as was the braised short rib. The service was excellent. My only complaint is it gets very loud due to larger groups sitting right by you. Will go back.
Made a reservation for a booth. Was told our table was ready and they escorted us up the stairs to a tiny table over looking the open kitchen. Asked to move our seat to the booth I requested but was told no other seats available. Ends up we spent $150 for dinner and drinks over looking a loud open kitchen. Why would anyone paying these prices for dinner want to be 10 feet away from the kitchen-the noise- and the smoke? Would never go back here again and would never recommend this place. By the way there are a few other tables that face the kitchen or back right up against the cook area, just horrible. Service was fair as the waiter had too many tables.
Too many other good places in the area that are a little cheaper and have a much better atmosphere.
I was a bit disappointed in the food. Having read other recent reviews about the food being under-seasoned, I brought my own sea salt with me and was glad to have it. Hubby had the tuna tartare app. and it was delicious once we added some salt. I had a good tuna Au Poivre, although the pepper was a little overwhelming because it was extremely coarse, crunchy even. This was served on mashed potatoes which were reminiscent of KFC's instant mashed. Also with no seasoning. Hubby also had the braised short rib, recommended by our server Oscar (who was fantastic!) but it was a bit on the dry side. I'm not sure if the kitchen staff was overwhelmed. There were 2 wedding receptions taking place at the same time, with a busy dining room.
Looks like a fantastic venue for a wedding! Overall, it was very pricey and IMO, not worth it for the quality of the food.
I'll definitely give it another chance during warm weather. The outside dining area looks beautiful and the food will probably improve once the on-site garden is providing its bounty to the menu.
Excellent food as always. The new burger with the new executive chef is phenomenal. Sushi is great as well!
Great food! Did a great job for my mom's 83rd Birthday!
Been there many times, the place has really gone down hill. Some of the food was not good (butternut squash soup was very sweet and risotto was not fully cooked), three items on the menu were not available, service was terrible (had to pour our own wine and water). Overall a bad experience, will find a better place next time.
Extremely disappointed as the food tasted more like flash boiled fast food with sauce thrown on top. no evidence of a flame & basically tasteless. Drinks also came out wrong so huge let down compared to the past there.
Proposed to girlfriend on Saturday and made reservations for dinner. We walked in and were seated right away. Everything was OK and no major problems with the place. That being said, I ordered the ribeye which needed salt. This place doesn't have slat and pepper on the table so we were forced to ask our server for some. His reaction was questionable at besrvalmoat like a how dare you ask for salt kind of thing. We let that slide and went on with our night. I had their signature gin and tonic and my fiancé had an iced tea. When the server came back to ask if I wanted another drink he didn't refill the iced tea or ask if she wanted another one. When he came around again he asked if she would like more tea. At this point it was towards the end of the meal so when he asks she's hesitates for a. Osment to think about what else she would want. After a few seconds of her thinking he chimes in, "well do you want some more iced tea? It's free." we look at each other had think did he really just say that? We each just ordered a 65 dollar steak and thinks we are worried about a free refill? It seemed like an inappropriate thing to say to a customer and was in fact pretty rude to hear. If we were dining for a special occasion I probably would have said something but just let it slide. In short the place was very nice but in our case service was defiantly sub par. My steak was cooked perfectly but seams they were a little shy when it came to seasoning. Just put the salt and pepper on the table and don't assume your food is perfect. I probably wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Food lacked flavor. Service was good. Prices are high for the quality of food. Our friends steak ordered med. well was vet over cooked. Other food was flavorless.
First I must say that Stone House is one of my wife and I’s favorite restaurants to go and have a great meal. From the ambiance, the staff, great drinks and food. This go around we were not at all impressed with the food. Their clams that we both love were missing ingredients that were clearly stated on the menu. My cavatelli punttanesca was subpar at best. I’m not sure what type of olives were used but they overpowered the entire dish. My wife had filet mignon which is usually one of the best in the area, but this time it was just off and didn’t have the great texture and taste we’ve become used too when going to Stone House. Her mashed potatoes where bland and reminded me the instant kind that comes in a box. The spinach and garlic side was also bland and flavorless as well. Are waiter who was awesome by the way.. did let us know they have a new chef on staff which makes a lot of sense. Still a great restaurant, but I’m hoping this new chef steps up his game so we don’t have to find a new favorite local restaurant.
Service was outstanding! Food was great as always.
I found the ambiance and food to be a "Wow". The Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.
They went out of their way to make my fiance and I very comfortable. We had the Salmon and Trout Special which were both outstanding. For Dessert we had the Sorbet Trio which was made in-house and was very flavorful .
Overall, I would recommend the Stonehouse for a date night or special occasion .
They even give you a small to go bag with homemade cookies.
We came with a group of six for birthday celebrations for three of us. We had done so a couple of years ago and had a great experience. So we decided to give it a go a second time, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant excelled in almost every way, from the seating to the staff, the personalized birthday menus, the service the delicious food, the attention to details, and even the gift of cookies as we departed. We had one party member who has a very restricted diet due to diabetes, and the staff was very attentive and helpful for whatever they were asked to do for that individual. One of our party mentioned that the portions were kind of small, but the food was delicious. I was looking forward to the Strawberry- Rhubarb dessert that was shown on the website. However, I was disappointed when it wasn't on the evening dessert menu, but the substitute I chose proved to be almost as good as the anticipated. All in all, we would highly recommend the Stone House. I know we will certainly be back again.
Excellent food prep and presentation. Solicitous service, except bar - slow. Adequate portions, not generous. Pricey steaks. Spacious, wood/stone modern ambiance. Looking forward to returning in warm weather to enjoy outdoor space for an alfresco meal.
3rd time there, came away thinking it'll be the last. $250 for 2 with tip for decent steaks, 2-3 beers, a glass of wine and dessert. Really? Skip
Very disappointed with our second visit to Stone House. My husband and I had our first visit in November 2017 to celebrate our anniversary and raved about the food, drinks and services to everyone and couldn't wait to go back. So we decided to go back last weekend to celebrate my birthday. During this visit, the menu selections were not as exciting and seem ordinary, we had the tuna tartar and calamari for apps but were just okay, not really flavorful. My husband had the swordfish and I had he ribeye for dinner, both were average at best, the steak was bland. The last visit that had a buratta mozz, tom and prosciutto app and fogra that was amazing and we were hoping to get this again during this visit :( I'm so sad b/c I thought we had found our new favorite place but the search continues.
We got married here a year ago and had instantly fallen in love. We couldn’t think of a better place to spend our first anniversary! Our waitress, Victoria, and the additional staff were so kind, friendly and all willing to help each other out. The food is always exceptional.
As usual, it’s the perfect neighborhood gem.
