Stone Creek - Plainfield Ratings and Reviews
As usual the food at Stone Creek was delicious. I REALLY did not want to pay as much as I did for the scallops, but they ended up being delightful. I did not like the tomato stuff on top- very sweet.
My husband got a burger and their house fries. Neither of us liked that either. The only thing I didn't like was that the server did not ask us why my husband didn't eat his fries. She just took it away without question. (He didn't mind because he just didn't like them- but to me, they should at least ask.) Other than this, our experience was overall good.
I think we would have enjoyed our first-ever visit to Stone Creek (Plainfield, IN) more if we had not been seated directly across from the server station. It was brightly lit with servers going in an out all the time which was quite distracting to our conversation. The food we ordered was good. However, the service left a lot to be desired. Our server was very inattentive and rarely checked on us to see if we needed more drinks and bread. Overall, I was disappointed in our visit. I was really hoping for a more enjoyable experience since we were having a last dinner with friends before their move to Texas.
We enjoyed a good Valentines dinner. After a aloof greeting and delay, the manager comped appetizer (very good calamari) and a dessert. Impressed by his awareness of what happened. Food was very good and service was great. We will be back and recommend highly.
While the food and wait staff are constantly above expectation, getting seated is not. We make reservations every visit and every visit we wait at least an additional 30 minutes. We are taking our business to Carbonos. Same food and service but their hostess seems to know how to get us seated at reserved time.
I haven't met a Cunningham restaurant I didn't love, and Stone Creek is very near my home, so I go there often. Usually we sit in the bar, where there are large, cozy booths in addition to the bar, itself. This was a family celebration, however, and I had made a reservation for 6 in the dining room. I was surprised by an extra person at the last minute on a busy Saturday night; but a quick phone call, and the manager assured me they would make room for us upstairs.
Very good wine was suggested by our server, and while some did the Devour Indy menu, I opted for the ahi tuna appetizer and the beet/feta/spring greens salad. Both were wonderful, and all the other family members loved their food, as well. You can't go wrong with any of the Cunningham restaurants: Stone Creek, Boulder Creek, Charbono's, VIDA (fab!), Bru Burger, Mesh and a couple that I have yet to try (heard that the Livery was very good, too.)
We got seated in what appeared to be the bar area at a table. The noise coming from the kitchen area was very distracting. Glasses clanging together and lots of dish noise. Then they set up for a party of 6 with a handicap person right next to us and while they were being seated, the other guest bumped into my date 2 times. They did apologize. They tables were set way too close for an event like that. We were only there to use up a gift card we got. Not sure we will go back. Might ask for a booth next time.
Service was exceptional. There was a large party ahead of us that delayed our food a bit, but our server made sure we were taken care of. The ebb and flow of groups can impact service, but they did an excellent job of taking care of us.
Food was excellent and the portion size was just right. Good presentation on the salad as well.
We visited this location on New Years Eve and were very unsatisfied. First we were sat in there party room (worst seat in the entire restaurant) with a reservation. The room is small and very tight and they had it packed with large parties not to mention the radio was blaring and so was the heat, I could not even enjoy my food because I was sweating. We both ordered the surf n turf which was the nights special. NOT IMPRESSED. The steaks were cooked horribly and the asparus was barley cooked. Only thing we enjoyed was the bottle of wine we ordered until it was empty and we’re not offered another bottle or if we would like something else to drink.
Generally pleased but was a little disappointed this time.I think they changed their french onion soup, not much cheese. Ordered Grilled Shrimp and Angel Hair Pasta. Shrimp was overcooked to the point it was tough, Had Asparagus overkill on the pasta. Friends had Ribs and were pleased.
