Stone Creek - Montgomery Ratings and Reviews
Birthday celebration this time. Arrived 6:30. Bar was really busy. Several tables open. Drinks were very good. Then we didn’t see our server for a while... short staffed? overwhelmed? Floor manager went by twice. Would have been nice to have bread while waiting. Finally ordered. Applewood salad was wonderful. Scallops reported as good, but would try something else next time. Chicken reported as dry, but the sauce was very tasty. Steaks were very good- cooked to order. Sides (veggies, risotto) were very good. Service was a bit slow. Otherwise, a nice evening.
My husband and I took my out of town cousin and her husband who live in a very upscale part of Phoenix. I wanted a place with just the right mix of elegance and casual dining, this was perfect! The town of Montgomery was delightfully decorated for Christmas, the fountain is right across the street from Stone Creek which added to the ambiance. The wait staff (McKenzie) was awesome, she checked in often, but not so much that we were interrupted, the food was delicious and the seating in the bar area was perfect...we actually cancelled our reservation to sit near the bar!
This is my favorite restaurant but this evening they had an “off” night. Even with it being an “off” night, the food was still excellent and above average based on other restaurants. The New York strip was cooked perfectly but the cut was not the usual exceptional cut we are used too. It was chewy and tasteless. This steak usually requires no additions because the flavor is wonderful but this evening, salt and pepper was needed. The baked potato was dry and perhaps a leftover from the previous evening. The wonderful smokey flavor these potatoes usually have was missing. The BBQ ribs were excellent and the broccoli was very good.
The huge disappointment for the evening was that they usually have one special dessert that is gluten free. They do have ice cream but for gluten free folks, a special dessert is always a treat and something I look forward too. They had changed the menu recently and had no special dessert that was gluten free. Hopefully, they will bring the chocolate mousse or something else gluten free back on the menu soon.
Food was good, but the server was pathetically in the wrong line of work. Completely not suited to be a server in a restaurant. We thought he was the water boy/bus boy because he never identified himself as the server. Took a LONG time before he offered to take our order or bring bread. Served soup without a spoon and by the time he came back to the table, it had been sitting too long. Never came back in general to check on food after we were served (crab cake wasn’t cooked enough and was sent back through another server. Objected to bringing us bread because we hadn’t ordered yet (not our fault - he never offered to take our order) (but... cocktails had been served, as well as a bottle of wine). Food was decent, but they need experience and trained servers.
We were seated very quickly even though the restaurant was quite crowded. Our server was very friendly & attentive without being overbearing. The drinks from the bar were outstanding; not watered down like so many other bars. We had the crab cakes which were delicious!
The service was exceptional and the food excellent! I LOVE this place for its food and ambiance! I hear they are moving the end of the year to anew location I hope the vibe remains the same. The carrot cake is the best I have ever eaten. The House Salad was fresh and substantial. Our server was very attentive.
First time having dinner here, although I have had a couple of lunches. The server was very warm and responsive to our requests. The food took awhile to come out, but that was acknowledged before we said anything and it was within a reasonable enough timeframe. Their menu is especially good for folks who have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. There are many choices.
This is by far my favorite restaurant in the Cincinnati area. My family eats here constantly. Their menu is amazing and can serve a wide range of customers. They offer amazing sandwiches all the way up to Lobster Risotto and Fillets. Their cocktails are outstanding, and their service is top notch.
I really like the atmosphere of Stonecreek. It was my first visit to this location. They were very accommodating to splitting plates and my husband's birthday celebration. The martinis were excellent as well.
A few of us ordered steaks and ordered them medium well temperatures....all of them were quite under and all 3 of us had to send ours back. Mine still was not correct after they took it back.
I would definitely go back to STONECREEK but I will probably not order steak.
My Caesar salad was great anchovies added this time. Seared tuna perfectly cooked. Our friends enjoyed salmon and halibut. The server was willing to substitute potatoes for rice which made him happy. One of our friends likes sweet wines and the muscat has been discontinued so she had a Riseling instead
one of my favorite restaurants ,it has a menu that can satisfy everyone/ ALSO, they are willing to "ADD/ DELETE vegetables that you want! I can't wait for them to move to their new location, since people seemed to object to the garage situation??? NEVER a problem for us, since Montgomery had close-by parking lots, or parking on main, or Montgomery road!
Stone Creek Dining is one of my favorite restaurants in "olde Montgomery"... they are willing to prepare the entrees with items that are NOT as prepared by the chef/ if someone had an adversion to an item, or medical reason could NOT have this dark green vegetable...Shawn was our server, and she was the best! In January,2018 will be closer to Camargo Cadillac... some people in the 12 years they have been in the Gateway Corridor, have loathed the garage parking situation... though we OFTEN park on Montgomery road directly in front of the restaurant, or a block away in the City parking on Shelly lane.
Our server seemed inexperienced. He wasn't knowlegeable about the wine and didn't offer to have the bartender or someone with more info to come and help us with our questions (basically simple questions at that). In general, he just seemed like he was new and wasn't ready yet to be out on his own... We've never liked the booths there because they are super uncomfortable so we requested a table with chairs. The food is good there and pretty predictable which is why we keep going back.
