Stone Creek - Montgomery Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I had dinner at Stonecreek on Saturday, January 13.
We arrived a bit earlier than our reservation time and were seated promptly - we appreciated this and the hostess and staff were friendly and accommodating.
We were seated at a table very close to the window and it was VERY loud and the menus were almost impossible to read due to the lighting. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary going on around us - I'm sure this was due to sound reflections and lighting.
This made it difficult to converse with my wife and decide what we want to eat. We don't get out much so we have to make the most of every minute we have together.
The waiter arrived to take our order. I pointed to the half bottle of Merlot on the menu that we wanted and we ordered our appetizer and dinners - spicy garlic shrimp, Tuscan penne pasta with a House side salad, and the Filet Medallions.
Our waiter returned with a bottle of Chardonnay and not Merlot. The brand name was the same but this was a little disappointing since I specifically POINTED at the EXACT bottle of wine that we wanted.
Our appetizer arrived before our bread did which was another small flaw in the table service.
A few minutes later our dinners arrived...the order for the House side salad did not get put in. and the item never arrived nor was it on our bill. Given this and the mix-up with the wine, I suspect that our server may have had trouble hearing our order just as we were having trouble hearing each other in conversation.
All of our food was delicious - I have nothing but good things to say about the quality of our appetizer and dinners.
Perhaps some of this seems a bit persnickety and picky, but when a dinner approaches $100 in cost the expectations change and the small mix-ups shouldn't happen in an upscale restaurant of this caliber and cost.
Is it enough to stop us from going there again? Probably not. If it happens again, we make look elsewhere for date night dinners.
Food was excellent. Parking was dreadful, but the Restaurant was full of regulars, who were obviously enjoying the experience. Within the next several weeks they will be moving to within walking distance for us. Parking will be much improved, but we won't need it.
This was not my first trip to Stone Creek and other times food has been better. My husband ordered Chicken Parmesan and the accompanying angel hair pasta was mushy. I ordered red snapper and it was cooked crispy with skin on. Not what I expected from the description.
My boyfriend and I eat here when we want to go someplace special. It is my favorite place to eat and the wine list is short by the glass but covers all the bases.
Dinner this time was amazing as usual! The ribs were excellent and the New York Strip was phenomenal as always. Since no special gluten free dessert was available, I ordered a chocolate martini which was the perfect way to complete a wonderful meal. We will continue to come here!
The restaurant was uncomfortably noisy. It was difficult to have a conversation. The waiter was straining to hear our order and questions. We sincerely hope that the new location will include a big improvement in containing the noise. We go out for dinner to be together and share good conversation over fine food. We no longer go to restaurants where we have to yell at each other to be heard.
Birthday celebration this time. Arrived 6:30. Bar was really busy. Several tables open. Drinks were very good. Then we didn’t see our server for a while... short staffed? overwhelmed? Floor manager went by twice. Would have been nice to have bread while waiting. Finally ordered. Applewood salad was wonderful. Scallops reported as good, but would try something else next time. Chicken reported as dry, but the sauce was very tasty. Steaks were very good- cooked to order. Sides (veggies, risotto) were very good. Service was a bit slow. Otherwise, a nice evening.
My husband and I took my out of town cousin and her husband who live in a very upscale part of Phoenix. I wanted a place with just the right mix of elegance and casual dining, this was perfect! The town of Montgomery was delightfully decorated for Christmas, the fountain is right across the street from Stone Creek which added to the ambiance. The wait staff (McKenzie) was awesome, she checked in often, but not so much that we were interrupted, the food was delicious and the seating in the bar area was perfect...we actually cancelled our reservation to sit near the bar!
This is my favorite restaurant but this evening they had an “off” night. Even with it being an “off” night, the food was still excellent and above average based on other restaurants. The New York strip was cooked perfectly but the cut was not the usual exceptional cut we are used too. It was chewy and tasteless. This steak usually requires no additions because the flavor is wonderful but this evening, salt and pepper was needed. The baked potato was dry and perhaps a leftover from the previous evening. The wonderful smokey flavor these potatoes usually have was missing. The BBQ ribs were excellent and the broccoli was very good.
The huge disappointment for the evening was that they usually have one special dessert that is gluten free. They do have ice cream but for gluten free folks, a special dessert is always a treat and something I look forward too. They had changed the menu recently and had no special dessert that was gluten free. Hopefully, they will bring the chocolate mousse or something else gluten free back on the menu soon.
