The food, the view and the service were all excellent!!
THE ACOUSTICS HOWEVER ARE TERRIBLE. It was nearly impossible to hear each other. There are no soft surfaces to absorb sound.

This is my husband and my favorite restaurant for special occasions. The food is high quality and the location on the hill overlooking the Clackams River in a gorgeous log building is the reason we have come here for years and will continue to do so. The servers are exceptional and we have always loved our dining experience. The food is on the higher end of places we would eat out at on a regular basis but for birthdays, anniversaries, or date nights, this is our favorite place. We recommend it all the time and look forward to dining here. The scenic route down Clackamas River Drive or going the back roads makes the drive enjoyable as well.

Finally beautiful sun in Oregon-2 tables only on deck! Why else come to Stone Cliff Inn. Food was awful! We brought guests from snowy Minnesota-very disappointing! We will not be back

We always have a great time at the Stone Cliff. The food was exceptional as always. Our waiter was fun, knowledgeable, and engaging. The bread pudding was incredible. We always plan to come back.

We had a very nice meal. We were there celebrating a couple of birthdays and they were very nice to bring dessert to both of them. The grounds are beautiful of course, but you can't really take advantage of that during this time of year. The service was outstanding!

We had incredible service and the food was amazing. This wasn’t my first time - was probably my 4th and it’s just as good each time. We had the Brussels sprouts to start - I wanted to enjoy those as long as possible. The salmon chowder was amazing. We both had salads and the portion sizes were ample. Only wish was to have more shrimp on my lentil and pepito salad and that the water wasn’t room temperature (I should’ve asked for ice). Our waitress was attentive without being overbearing. We had a 4pm reservation so the restaurant was quiet. It started filling up as we left ~5:30pm.

Stone Cliff is one of my favorite restaurants. I will be back again.

Went on my birthday and really enjoyed it. I look forward to going back. The movie Twilight had scenes filmed on the hillside. The part where Edward reveals he’s a sparkling vampire, lol. I’m not really into the movie but it was still really cool and to get to walk around the little trail with moss covered boulders and crevasses. They also have pictures of the scenes where they were filmed. But back to the food! The Kobe beef burger was amazing. The beers on tap were few but good choices if you are only going to have a few. The view of the river was nice. We were the only ones there at that time so I probably didn’t need to make reservations for 4:30 on a Monday, lol. I liked it. You might too.

The only reason I'm not leaving a one star is because the wait staff has been great each time were have been here.
The first time eating at Stone Cliff my meal was over cooked but everyone else at our table had a great meal, so I did not complain. The second time my meal and my fiancé's meal were great which prompted us to come back again. Tonight our meals were subpar at best. My fiancé was served raw scallops and instead of them bringing out a new plate they just reheated her scallops which not only made them rubbery but also added burnt items from the grill. Over 1/4 of my filet mignon was grisly which a true filet mignon should not be. The server stated he would go speak with the manager yet the manager never came to our table.
Instead of removing my fiancé's meal from our tab the server stated that the manager told him to offer us free dessert which we did not accept since we are both staying away from sweets. So tonight we paid $38 for my fiancé's rice and carrots since my fiancé could not eat most of her scallops.
The drinks were good... thank God for alcohol?

The roasted brussel sprouts were the highlight of the meal. The chef’s cheese and meat place was not very good- the meats were extremely fatty and tasteless and the salmon mousse lacked flavor. I might come back for a happy hour snack.

Not good for an intimate dining experience. Very noisy. Food was really good but overpriced. Would only come back for a special occasion. What’s with the tepid water? It’s the only place I’ve been to that didn’t give ice water. I don’t want to drink water that is not cold. Same when I came
For lunch the week before. Cut loose with some ice.

I was looking forward to taking my girlfriend here for our 1yr anniversary since I found this place a couple years ago and thought it would be a nice romantic dinner but I was wrong! First when I made my online reservation I requested a quiet table(hearing impaired) with a view but was informed when I arrived that no window tables were available so I asked if we could wait at the bar until one became open. The Maitre D said no so they seated us as a couple at a four person table in the middle of the restaurant next to the stairway that had constant traffic and a servers station. Not acceptable and I will not be taking anymore dates here! Meanwhile the window tables that we requested were taken by non couples ( moms with kids, same gender patrons of different ages, etc.) obviously enjoying their meal but not interested in the view or quiet solitude afforded a romantic evening for hearing impaired couples. I have worked in all aspects of restaurants from dishwasher to manager and everything in between but this place could use some help! Its got a great location, rustic lodge feel (yes I used to build custom log homes too) and a lot of potential! I do admit the food was good but not exceptional for the price. Did I mention that we were over charged $44 for two additional entrees that we did not order or receive? I guess we had phantom quests at our table hence the extra two seats at the four plex. The bill for two people (Four drinks, one appetizer special shared, two entrees plus the phantom two, one soup which is extra (yes the bread was free), one dessert shared with coffee was $200 which was paid for in cash with a $40 tip! The waiter was humorous however and really good natured as well as the other servers who were working very hard but the management should be ashamed!

We have been going to stone cliff for quite some time. The last two times we have had to send our food back and when we got the food the second time it was not much better. I am hoping they were just isolated incidents because we really enjoy going there. Our bill is always over $200 and would like to have a quality meal.

I’ve never been disappointed with anything I have ordered here. The salmon chowder is one of my favorites. I just tried their bread pudding dessert and I am not a fan of bread pudding and it was absolutely delicious! The staff has always been very friendly and accommodating when I’ve asked for different seating, since the view is beautiful. We’ve gone for lunch, happy hour and dinner and have enjoyed it every time. I recommend making reservations when the sun is out, as it gets extremely busy.

The 4 of us were there to celebrate a birthday. We took the first available reservation and were rewarded with a window table and a lovely, relatively quiet lunch! We are grateful for a very considerate waitress, which helped us have a wonderful dining experience! The birthday girl received a delightful dessert (which we all shared), which was a great surprise! Thank you!

When we arrived they sat us at the worst table over near the cash register even though we had a reservation. When we asked for a different table the manager argued that we would mess up other people’s reservations. They eventually moved us. The server was friendly and the food was pretty good. One person in our party was not happy with his drink. Overall a C+ experience.

Stone Cliff Inn is not what it was. Very overpriced wines. Two of us had cioppino. Broth good, but serving small with messy, uncracked crab. No crab bibs offered. Lettuce in Caesar salads was mostly stems or bitter, unde- ripe romaine. No adjustments made though we couldn't eat them and sent them back. Noise level extremely high making conversation almost impossible. Have enjoyed SC since they opened, but this visit was very dissappointing, both in the quality of the food and their lack of attention to diner satisfaction.

Pros: The restaurant and the view are lovely. In nice weather you can sit on the patio and see the river.

Our first table was next to the other occupied table and those people were very loud. The dining room staff was super nice when we requested a move to a quieter location.

Cons: For our most recent visit the service was friendly but mostly absent. The restaurant was practically empty when we arrived yet we waited at the host stand for several minutes before anyone would acknowledge and seat us (and we had a reservation). I think they were busy talking amongst themselves in clear view of the empty host stand.

Our waitress was friendly, but was gone or not making eye contact for very long stretches of time. Again, the place was practically empty so it is not as though there were too many guests to handle. We probably waited 20 minutes between water and her coming back to take our orders. And she walked by doing other things a few times without glancing our way - I was on the verge of chasing her down.

They have a tendency to over cook meat. Our guest's steak was very chewy. It was either the cooking or the quality of the cut, either way, it was not in line with the price. My husband's fish was fine.

Summary: I like this place. It is not a chain, the location is beautiful. The service for this visit was not good, but we have had decent service in the past. It is pricey so I expect the food to be really good, and my last three visits have been disappointing from a taste and texture point of view.

We took our out of town friends to Stone Cliff for dinner Monday evening. We all ordered something different. Smoked salmon, stuffed pork chop, diver scallops and short ribs. Every dish was delicious & well presented. We shared the Brussels sprout appetizer, it was very good.

Our waiter just got a 10 top right before us and didn’t have time for us. The second string, the general manager, knew there was a problem and assisted us after 10 minutes.
Having been a waiter for many years it was clear they did not have enough wait staff. It was hectic, nobody asked us why we came..a birthday, and the evening continued. We must say the food was good, however the experience was not for what we paid.

So not a place if your in a rush, otherwise for fancy dates and special occasions total recommendation.
