Stone Cliff Inn Ratings and Reviews
I stumbled across this place when looking for a nice place to go on a date. I loved the ambiance and the food was amazing. Stone Cliff Cioppino...if you like seafood, this is amazing. A spectacular blend of lobster, clams, scallops, crab, all swimming in a broth concoction I have never tasted the equal of. Great portion sizes too. My date had the hazelnut breaded chicken and enjoyed it immensely. The only downside is that if you wish to carry on a conversation, the food will distract you from it! It was dark and the patio was not set up for outdoor seating, but what we could see was breathtaking. It commands a beautiful view of the Clackamas River. You have to drive up a switchback up a cliff to get there, so it lives up to the name.
I could go on, but you should go try it for yourself. I don't think you would regret it.
If you are on a tight budget looking for a deal then don't go here. I wasn't. I was looking for a good time with some friends and good food and I was not disappointed. The pot pie was a little too bready for my friend but the filling was good. Everything else was really good. Blackened chick sandwich, reuben and kobe beef burgers were all very good. I've been twice and would go again. Summertime on the deck would be really great.
One would think that at 6:30 p.m. the entire menu would be available. As my date and I were repeatedly told, "I'm sorry. We're out of that because....blah, blah, blah"; the disappointment grew. That disheartening fact might have been overcome by our enjoyable conversation if the conversation were a one-way yelling fest'; We not only couldn't hear one another but we couldn't hear ourselves or our server. One of the most obnoxiously loud dinner environs I have ever encountered, Texas Aggieland game night BBQ's excluded. ... and a 95-minute wait for a rare steak and a seafood soup? The food looked and tasted great. I'd go again if that and our wonderful server were our only considerations; but very sadly, not!
Attractive venue with lovely scenery. The service was friendly, attentive and prompt. The food was terrific and showcased local options. My smoked, broiled salmon was delicious as was my husband's choice of chicken breast with creamy blue cheese sauce and garlic mashed potatoes. We enjoyed a Willamette Valley wine which we'd tasted the week before at the winery. Loved the cozy log building. We loved ve in a timber frame house and felt right at home!
Brussel sprout appetizer was great. Seasonal vegetables (green beans and peppers) were a bit spongy as if they had been previously frozen. Entrees were solid. Service was a bit on the slow side but the staff was very friendly. Our visit was in the fall so outside seating was not available but looks like they have great space for outdoor seating.
On this occasion we had very good service and the fresh caught salmon was outstanding, we did not order the a la carte salad or soup-mostly because the salads are very large and we are light eaters; however in the past they have been very tasty.
We always enjoy our trip to this establishment and the most negative thing we can say is the menu in general is a little overpriced for our budget so we save our trips for special occasions.
Recommend by a co-worker for a fun birthday lunch for my 16 year old, due to great food and the Twilight scenes filmed there. Food was amazing and the kiddo was in awe seeing where some of the movie was filmed! Great experience and will return soon! Highly recommend!
We were quickly seated at a table with a view of the river. Our server was quick to take our order and get our drinks and appetizer to us. A couple of us shared an entree and the kitchen split the dish for us. Not a lot of places do that. The top sirloin and salmon chowder were delicious. Others in our party had the pasta carbonara and the roasted salmon. All dishes were tasty and beautifully presented. Our server even provided a brownie ice cream sundae for the birthday we were celebrating.
Wonderful evening full of delicious food and great service! Thank you!
My wife and I were recommended to try this the Stone Cliff in for their ambiance and delicious food. We certainly were not disappointed. We made reservations for a Friday night, and were promptly greeted, seated, and attended to when we arrived. When we go out for a meal, we like to be left to our own company and to enjoy our meal, not be asked how we're doing every 5 minutes. The Stone Cliff staff did a wonderful job recognizing when we needed service, and stayed their distance when we didn't.
It took a long time for someone to take our drink order. They were short staffed, though so I understand. The chicken was burnt so I didn't eat it. But the view is amazing so it makes up for it. It is very expensive, so it will be awhile before I try it again.
Our waitress was excellent, very attentive to our needs. We didn't say anything, but this was a celebration of our 25th anniversary. The food was wonderful! My husband had the filet mignon, and I had sturgeon fettuccine. Both were delicious! We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for the rustic ambiance found in this huge log cabin setting, wonderful food and a great wait staff.
This is very worth the trip. We drove in from St Helens and met family coming in from Silverton to celebrate a birthday. It was the birthday boy's first time there and he loved it! Making the reservation through Open Table worked very smoothly the day of the event. Arrived early but had to postpone the reservation time by 30 minutes to accommodate our other party's arrival. The host gave us a big smile and said it was absolutely no problem, just let them know when we were ready to be seated. We loved the dinner options, every part of the meal from the appetizers to the main entrees were fantastic. Our server even brought out a little birthday cupcake with ice cream on top for 'grandpa'. Can't wait to return.
It was very cozy and most of the food was yummy (the lamb chops, bread, and bread pudding!). The meat loaf was a little dry, and the portobella mushroom dish was a little complicated to eat and not as delictible as we thought it would be. I though it was a little over priced compared to restaurants similar, but the view was great, the service was nice, and the ambiance felt like we were in a log cabin.
Table of 10 for a birthday. Were seated upstairs. Nice ambiance and food was ok. Server wasn't the best....forgetful, not detail oriented, and slow. 3 food orders came out wrong. Ran out of water 2x, many times drinks were empty. Appetizers and starter salads came out randomly....just a jerky flow to the meal with lots of "can we please get more (water, bread, soda, beer, etc...)". I think a better server could have handled a large party better.
Came to celebrate a birthday for my friend. Her first time there. After all the smoke and ash in the area, we lucked out and had a beautiful dinner on the porch. I kept saying what a lovely evening and a clear view to enjoy our time. Our waitress was lovely and attentive. Shanea(Sp?) She's going to Bartender this Thursday, when my friend is being taken here for lunch. Her second time. I'm sure she'll be back. I know I will!
Thank you for an enjoyable and peaceful evening.
