Their new ordering system, through the QR code, is pretty terrible if you’re not just ordering beer. It’s difficult to navigate the process, there’s really no one to ask for help, and actually completing the order is confusing. And forget it if you have any special requests you can’t convey is 20 characters or less.
The food wasn’t nearly as outstanding as it has been in the past. We’ve been to Stone several times over the years and always been thrilled with the flavor and quality. This time didn’t hold up.
The servers and bus people we had to stop in order to get things like a replacement napkin were very sweet and helpful.
Lastly, the garden looked like it had been destroyed and was being rebuilt. Even the inside of the building looked like it needed some upkeep and love.
All that said, we’ll probably go back. Maybe we’ll go to Liberty Station next time, though.
Got seated right in the hot sun. Had to wait out an hour almost for the sun to set. No one offered to move the umbrella next to the shaded table to help us out. Getting service was hard unless you ordered food or drink. We had trouble getting water and to go boxes.
Contact less ordering is horrible. No service whatsoever. Will not be going back.
Our dishes were dirty & even though they brought new dishes, they were dirty as well.
I went to Stone with 5 friends for lunch. It was a disaster. First we all hated this ordering thing it's stupid . Also three of us ordered the brisket sandwich the meat was overdone and chewie IT WAS NOT INEXPENSIVE.. We all threw our sandwiches out I was embarrassed since these people were my guests I needed to pick up something for them for dinner since none of us ate. I will not go back too bad it's a nice place Karen Mandel
My 3rd time at the impressive Stone "mothership" location was just as amazing as the previous visits.
The food selection satisfies a variety of diets and lifestyles while the beers remain as ferociously tasty and unique as their righteous attitude of arrogance.
The restaurant ambience itself is over the top. The COVID service adopted and kept in place by management is awful. Near impossible to get anyone’s attention and you are not sure you ever really have really make contact, The food was less than satisfactory in fact inedible as the tri tip was unable to be chewed. The replacement Mac and Cheese with chicken was also not good. The chicken was over cooked and tough. I had a vegetarian taco and the recipe was amateurish. I am not sure what happen durning COVID but quality of food and service is gone. The beer is excellent and manager did make right by not charging for the tri-tip and Mac and Cheese. What a disappointing evening as it our anniversary and I apologized several times to my wife of 46 years. This was once a world class restaurant with great food receipts and great service.
Food was not hot when it came. No one checked back on us to inquire about the food. Food was tasty. Beer was good. I did not enjoy having to scan my order into the kitchen. Value was good for what you get.
It was lovely. We had reservations but still had to wait 20 minutes to sit. I see the value of point of sale but it was impersonal be a little confusing to navigate. Ambiance and food were great
The Stone brewery World Bistro is a very unique dining experience. We love the mysterious winding entry path, along with the excellent beer and food. Even with the covid requirements, service was still friendly and efficient.
I ordered all my food and drinks through the app. With the exception of the two kids lemonade my order was complete. Overall good experience but it was difficult to track any staff down for additional items.
They still have the covid restrictions in place, so there are no servers, but they don’t seem to mind if parents too busy texting let their children run throughout the restaurant. If they really cared about the restrictions and spread they would have asked the children to not bother other parties. But there was no server or any type of person to speak to so we were just stuck in a corner while kids ran around us.
We used to love the food here as well, but our brisket was dry and tough and ribs overly salty, once again there was no one we could speak to about this. So I’m left very disappointed by this locations food and lack of leadership. At least have one person ask if the meal is ok at the very least.
Get rid of the awful computerized ordering system and employ a service staff!! Food is still good and beer is great but it’s so strange and the vibe without a server feels post apocalyptic. Absolutely did not feel like Stone anymore. We have no reason to return!!!
You really should know about our experience last evening. IF THIS HAD BEEN our first time at Stone, I'm not so sure we'd return.
The biggest draw for us to go to Stone Escondido is the outside beer garden. (This was our first time ever being indoors and we will not do it again). Our reservation was for outside but they asked us if we'd mind eating inside as the table outside at 5:45 was still in the sun without an umbrella. In all fairness, the host gave us the choice. What a mistake!
The service (if you could even call it that) was laughable. We couldn't believe it. We dine out quite frequently, and this was pretty sad and extremely time consuming. We sat at a booth indoors (next to the wall) which was fine. We had virtually no wait staff as we ordered online, which we are used to and have been doing with you for a year.
When beer, wine, appetizers, dinner, dessert were each delivered, no one checked ever back to see if we (group of 4 adults) needed anything else, which we did, like more sauce for the fish tacos, more mustard for the appetizers, a box for my salad, another dessert - which we finally gave up on! The check was incorrect so we needed that fixed.
To get all of the aforementioned things, one of our guys went up to the bar counter to find someone to ask! He did that 4 or 5 separate times! How ridiculous! I felt so badly for him and yet we would wait and wait and wait. And seriously, we aren't that needy!
It was utterly ridiculous! We have dined with you fairly often over the years, even during the pandemic, with never a complaint. This was our 2nd time there within the past 10 days, bringing another couple along both times. We spent a bit of money with you for this birthday dinner (thank you for the ice cream) and I guess the upside is that it will truly be memorable.
PS: The next question asks if I will recommend Stone, which, due to so many great times there previously, I would. Based on last night? No.
Food was incredible and the beer was AMAZING! Cant wait to go back!
Get rid of ordering electronic! It was supper confusing and not the best internet reception. Bring back waitresses and waiters!
I was extremely disappointed in our experience here. I’ve heard great things and I think it could have been a really cool experience. But the ordering online and not “technically” having a waiter/waitress just ruined the entire experience. I’m not sure if it’s like this because of covid or if it’s always been this way. But that made things so complicated and I felt it was more work on the servers having to go back foe all the little things that we couldn’t order or needed.
Good food good beer good environment. Great experience
Fabulous atmosphere and delicious food! We’ll be back!
Great outdoor garden area. Amazing beers. Food is generally really good, but I ordered a burger this past time medium, but it came well (or whatever is next beyond well. Really well? Hockey puck?). Otherwise a great experience. Highly recc the tours once they start back up.
Great place but afternoon with large group not so great. I didn't realize they were going to put us on picnic bench and the umbrella didn't shade us and it was hot and just not fun. Evening would have been cooler and better.
Nice, open area. Friendly service. Love the way we use our cell phone to order and pay...especially when with a group. It's so much easier than having to split a check!
Wasn’t a fan of the contactless format.
They do this thing at Stone where you order from an app, and your food and drinks come to you (and pretty quickly, I might add). The issue here is that you don't really interact with a server. When you do, though, they are SUPER nice, accommodating, polite, fun, knowledgeable, everything you'd want in a server. So I feel like you miss out a little. BUT the food is great, the ambiance is cool, and you have a good time.
Can’t use my gift card on gotab. Been waiting to use it for over a year now.
Excellent food and beers! Service is great!
Your app for ordering and paying is terrible. It should simply be put items (food) into a cart and then checkout. It doesn't seem to work that way.
Everything OK what more can I say? I need 50 characters so xxxxx xxxxx xxsxxx xxxxx
Great food, setting and overall experience as always with Stone. The concern we had was asking for refills on water twice (once through the app, once through a server), and neither request was honored. Disappointing, but we will be back.
Good service, great beer, food delicious! I love visiting the mother ship and liberty station
Stone Brewery is, in our opinion, the best and most fun place you can go in Escondido, just the two of you or a whole crowd. The site itself is hard to describe so we’ll let you enjoy the experience. All the food offerings are delicious, generous servings, creative menu. And then there’s the beer, it IS a brewery after all.
Everything was excellent but we can't wait until you go back to having servers take the orders.
Great food and drink menu and best outdoor patio venue in the brewery scene
The gardens are nice to eat out in. The food was delicious. An overall beautiful retreat to dine at. Loved the pretzel appetizer. Tacos are tasty. Vegy salad was the bomb.
Not a fan of the no contact service. Download an app..order from the app. Have to flag down the passing food runner to ask questions. Make notes on food order and still get it wrong. I won’t be back until I can have an actual server. Chicken added to the salad was over cooked and rather tasteless. My friends all enjoyed their food, The crime brûlée was excellent. Will no table service, we had to continue to ask for refills on water and teas. Maybe sitting at the bar will have different results. May try that option. Also, no cash option when ordering
Casual date night with my wife.
I brought my two cousins who were in from out of town. They love the Escondido location because of all the greenery. The great food and beer selection are the icing on the cake.
Thank you for the great review, Scott! So happy to hear that you and your guests enjoyed your visit with us and we hope to see you all again next time!
Delicious food. Great variety of choices on the menu. Beautiful gardens.
Thank you for the great review, Mary! We look forward to your next visit!
Food and atmosphere were excellent!
Portions are large enough to split if you are not super hungry.
Thank you for the awesome review, Sharon! We hope to see you again real soon!
