We loved the time spent at this location and the staff was wonderful. We weren't big fans of the QR Code ordering system as it helps to have input on various aspects of the meal from a staff member. Fat fingers ended up ordering the wrong beer and we failed to order the condiments/sauces on our meal items. That resulted in less than a flavorful meal. My husband was disappointed in the fact that there are hardly any beer choices besides IPA's. He would have expected a nice Octoberfest considering the season.
Servers were great and helpful on 'Just the Right' Beer selection
Beautiful location. Good food. Value is okay. I would recommend it.
I made a reservation 4 days in advance. I filled out the special occasion option and the preference box too. We showed on time and we’re told there were a few ahead of us, fine w/ that then we were taken to a corner table in closed down bar area facing the wall ! I refused and notified the server of the above details and that it was our 25 wedding anniversary! I specified in preference box and still was seated in some leftover area where others had large dogs laying next to table. Sour taste left with service 😒
The menu is much reduced since our last pre Covid visit, but still has nice options. The fruity goat cheese salad was great! They left off a few items but were happy to provide them once I mentioned it. I don’t mind the QR code ordering. It was a really nice way to pace our meal. Appetizers first, then ordered the meal. It would really help to have waitstaff come to the table to suggest items, recommend beer, before we ordered. We were at our table Googling the various beers on our phones. We came for a special birthday and we were walked through the entire lovely outside half empty area to the worst table by the stairs, next to a large party, but the host placed us at a nicer location once we spoke up. Not the place to go if you hope to get that birthday candle in a dessert, but that’s fine.
I think the menu needs a revamp. I brought a friend here and while I was trying to tell her what was good on the menu, I realized there wasn't that much that I would ever order again. The lumpia is exactly like the frozen ones I can get at the grocery store. The choice of salads is an overly sweet, soggy one and a raw kale that tastes like hay. The onion rings are just meh and the Dan Dan noodles are so spicy as to be almost inedible. I guess the pretzel, the tacos and the burgers are my go to items, but with such a great venue and great beer, it's too bad the food isn't amazing.
Was a great place to celebrate with babies and the dog. Only down fall was the minimal menu. But food was good.
I love the Escondido space but this visit was underwhelming. Post-covid procedures mean you interact very little with servers and bartenders - you order everything through your phone and pay through your phone etc - which is fine, but they still automatically charge you 20% gratuity when you “close your tab” on the website. Also the staff doesn’t know a lot about allergens in their food. I asked which items were gluten free and they said “I think we can make this one gluten free…” a lot, so I had to do a lot of guessing when I ordered.
Perfect! Good service and good food.
The new ordering system is really bad - took 40 minutes to get our drinks and miss asking a server for recommendations.
I loved the ambiance as well as great beers and food I absolutely didn’t like the ordering system of each time paying separately each time I’d rather have the experience of a waitress to get familiar with and ask about the menu. Other than the that I loved it !
Always a great time and the staff are always so nice and helpful. Only reason I gave 4 stars on service and overall is because with the use of only ordering through the QR code, they don't really check in with you about any special occasions. I made a note when making the reservation, however no one offered any special birthday dessert like they used to.
STone is the happening place. Atmosphere is great but the service is poor due to lack of employees - no reflection on the waiters/waitresses that are trying to keep up. Not enough employees to take your order so you have to order on your phone still, and we waited at least 40 minutes for our drinks that came after our food. I know every place has a shortage of workers.
TL/DR: Horrible customer service. Food was okay (meh) for the price. Would not recommend.
I don’t have unreasonable expectations for customer service since I worked in the food industry many years, I swear I’m not a Karen we really either just got unlucky with this experience or it really is just this bad.
It was the first time we were dining at stone brewery. We made reservations since we were coming from two hours away just to go to this “nice” brewery. It took the staff an hour and a half to get our last 3 dishes, and they messed up one order and 1 drink. At the end when they FINALLY brought the last dishes my guests decided to just take it to go and leave. The waiters were not around or attentive at all. One of the waiters tried to rectify it at the end but the whole experience was so disappointing that we just wanted to leave to be honest. And it bothered me that it was only once we complained about the wait time that he became attentive. The place was beautiful and I was very excited to celebrate my birthday here but the customer service really ruined it for us.
Also the food was subpar for the price and the portions were almost too small. I would not recommend this place to anyone for a dining experience.
Very under staffed. Food took a very long time time to come out and we waited 40 min to even have a staff member come to our table.
Everything looks delicious. We had their pretzel, ahi nachos, tacos, and mac & cheese. Their beers are the best too!
The beer is great, the food is great, the ambiance is great, but the whole online menu perusal, ordering, & payment process is a complete pain.
Great place to eat and hang out. Outside dining area is HUGE and beautiful. Put this place on your list if you are visiting the area.
The venue is beautiful. The good experience ends there. The ordering system from your phone was a pain in the butt. I have used a QR reader that I have used at different places with no problems. At Stone Brewery Some weird app was accessed which led to weird problems and a random membership. I had to cancel my credit card. There were 3 couples and we spent more time Di king around on our phones instead of enjoying each other. One couple kept getting booted off despite them saying you stayed logged in. We ordered 2 pretzels and got 3. A Mac and cheese can to our table nobody ordered. We all put in our food orders at the same time and ours was delivered at least 5 min later than our friends. The menu at the table wasn’t updated. No waiter to ask questions. The staff just came by and dropped food and beers off.
We ordered food from the app and someone dropped it off and not one person checked in to see if everything was as ordered. What were we supposed supposed to ask for more sauce, salt or pepper from the freaking app? We were even supposed to order a to go box. On the app.
The food was not very good. Korean fried chicken sandwich was dry. I had the lamb noodles. It was described to me like a chow mein. It was gummy and with the exception of a mini bok choy their didn’t seem to be any veggies. I didn’t even take the leftovers home in the to go box I would have had to order online for. Hubby got the ahi nachos. So so, not much ahi and didn’t appear to have the extra avocado he asked for. Our 2 vegan friends order a salad which she said was not good at all. The other ordered the ratatouille ravioli with a butternut sauce. What a totally weird flavor combo and super unappealing visual.
We were so hopeful when we walked in because we are all beers drinkers and the outside space was really gorgeous. We are no dummies technically but the app was not good. My parents would not be able to navigate it at all. Don’t sit so many tables & give better service
We had a great experience at Stone Bistro. We almost canceled our reservations after reading recent reviews but were glad we didn’t. The contactless ordering process was great and the food came out super fast. The garden was packed when we were there (around 6 pm) but there were sufficient servers around to check on us. Food, drink and dessert were all delicious. We didn’t mind the contactless ordering process because we can leave when we were ready and not have to wait for our check.
We had a great time here! The food and surroundings were great and we were able to get a flight of beers that we enjoyed too. Coming from LA, this is my boyfriends favorite spot to visit in San Diego so we did a day date out and the scenery is so pretty, the food was great - we had the Brussel sprouts (wow), the fruity goat salad and the pretzel family style to share. Super full at the end but well worth every bite. The server was super kind as well. Highly recommend 10/10
Not a fan of the new order service through mobile. Site kept crashing, ended up having to pay at bar anyway. Otherwise, sweet place to eat and drink.
Beautiful setting. Servers were friendly. It was a bit hard to order using my mail phone but we figured it out. Brussel Sprout appetizer was the bomb! Dog friendly Restaurant!
Great overall. You have to order and pay by scanning the QR code, so be sure to submit or else your food won't arrive. One of our guests did not submit and waited for 15 minutes, then the server let her know she needs to click Submit at the very bottom of the screen.
Always amazing - we had a fun event and it was great to celebrate at Stone!
Wasn’t crazy about ordering food at the table using UR code. Frustrating and confusing on how to request appetizers first. Plenty of staff working so getting help was easy. Fish & Chips were great as well as pretzel, and tried 2 Street Tacos. Stone Brûlée finished up the order.
We were visiting from LA, and decided to stop in. Service was great, our servers were really nice, and the overall experience/ambiance was awesome.
Stone use to be good, but it’s gone downhill. Our potato spiral thing was burnt, there was a dead fly in my cornbread which I sent back. There were ants all over our seat and we were sitting inside. Our plates and cups kept piling up I had to ask to have them removed a few times. We were there for my husband’s birthday very disappointing, I had to go around the table to get my families order which would be fine for hanging out for a few beers but not a sit down dinner with the family that I paid over $200 for.
We arrived an hour before our reservation to have time to enjoy the garden. To our surprise it took us only 20 minutes to walk and enjoy. Fortunately they were able to seat us early and next to the Koi pond which we really enjoyed.
We ordered the rib meal and shared it. It was good but not great. I found the meat salty, cornbread was overcooked, coleslaw had no flavor the beans were good. We tried diet Colafornia Swell it tasted like seltzer so not for us. We spent a very pleasant 3 hours it's unlike any other brewery and well worth stopping by for a visit.
This place is great for lunch and drinks but don’t expect great service. You’re lucky if they check on you. I had to get up twice and look for someone to help me. The girls in the front seem bothered to help you instead of making you feel welcomed. This place need a little customer service training. Better service will go a long way!
We were excited for the new menu. While the Birria Tacos were tasty the Korean Fried Chicken sandwich was dry and bland. Great atmosphere but the food needs some help.
Of course the Beer is great...food is great...atmosphere is awesome indoors or out. Have fun
New ordering process on phone was not the easiest, but waitstaff were so helpful and friendly that it was just fun and not (too) frustrating. We have older fumble fingers… just saying. Overall it was a wonderful lunch. Only one taco got a so-so review, which kept this from being a 5-star review. A solid 4.5 though!
Over priced and no waiters you have to order your self on your phone. I have been twice but will not be going back
Our group of probably 40 was accommodated and considering the times, the service was great! All the food was on the spicy side but still good options. Love the ambiance as it was perfect for adults and kids. Will definitely be back!
We sat in the garden with a group of 8. Great atmosphere. Ordered from our phones. The food arrived at different times since we placed our orders on three different phones. A little expensive, but good food.
We had a lovely time as usual, though I would have preferred a bit more distance between tables. A family was seated next to us with young children who naturally needed to wander ( also louder) due to restlessness toward the end. Perhaps Stone might consider a small section be utilized for families with children...this would allow all guests to have an improved experience.
We’ve been to Stone many times and have always enjoyed ourselves but this was by far our worst experience. Food orders took a long time to come out and when they did, the food was room temperature. It will probably be a long time before I come back here.
The outdoor seating area is very beautiful. Many nooks and crannies to feel like you are secluded. I am personally not a huge fan of app ordering without some sort of support. I had a few questions but, nobody was there to answer. The app ordering concept is OK but, it needs to be supported perhaps by a host/hostess the wonders thru the restaurant just to check on guests.
My husband and I were celebrating our Anniversary by hiking in the Mtns, but we wanted to eat lunch/dinner on our way home. We obviously were dressed more casually (in hiking attire), so a fancy restaurant was out of the question, but we didn't want fast food....A beer garden was the perfect fit because it has a relaxed atmosphere (dress code), while still having excellent food we plan to return again soon!
