We had always wanted to try this restaurant because we had heard many good comments from friends. Unfortunately tonight we celebrated a family birthday at Stone and were disappointed in the food, service and cost. We will probably not return.
Things started off well with a lot of attention from our server and the rest of the wait staff. After waiting awhile for our food, the wait staff seemed to disappear leaving us really thirsty because no one came back to refill our water til after we finished our entrees.
I ordered the pork belly adobo with garlic fried rice because the description on the menu sounded amazing. When the meal arrived I took one bite and wow, the garlic was very evident! This would have been fine except there wasn't enough rice to balance the overpowering sauce of the adobo. I ended up passing around my plate to the rest of the family because it was so difficult to eat the very strong flavors mixed together. I should have asked for some plain white rice to help absorb some of the strong sauce but then, for $21 I would have hoped someone would have tested the combination first before serving to customers. But then again, my server never came back so I could have asked for more rice! More water would have helped but no one came to refill our glasses either.
Another family member ordered the steak. It came out lukewarm as well as the potatoes that were served with it. Definitely not the experience he had hoped for $34.
The other meals that we ordered were just ok. Probably the most noteworthy were the ribs and pancetta mac and cheese which were delicious.
Ideal place to celebrate a special day! Good food, good ambiance, and most of all - Good Beer!!! Cheers!
Great food and service. Extensive beer selection. We loved the outdoor seating area. Highly recommend!
Really enjoyed the food, beer and the garden at the Escondido brewery.
Beautiful outdoor patio seating area, food was excellent. Thank you for the dinner. Our server Kevin was amazingly on top of everything.
Amazing place with awesome food. The acre wooded area was very special. A must see and dine place. Not your normal brewery.
Made reservations for inside dining
Was made to wait even with reservations
The hostesses were rude and we were sitted outside with the sun right in my face ...... the gardens were closed so we couldn’t enjoy them and the menu had changed and the new items were just mediocre..... just and over all horrible experience.......
they need to get better help
Good food, just a little pricey. Menu is somewhat eclectic, and focuses on innovative and trendy offerings.
Went for my Birthday. There where more kids then adults, but in the end it was a good time and the servers where great with all the kids!!
What a gorgeous place and atmosphere! Lots of shady and cool places to eat and enjoy your beer. I have to take a star off due to the food. Had the ribs appetizer and the Mac and cheese and both were just okay. I think BJs has better ribs by far, in comparison. The Mac and cheese was pretty good when I first bit in, but as it cooled down the cheese got a little funky on me. I didn’t even eat half because it got too cold. Decide to go based on the beer and atmosphere though. I would come back and just try different things. The burger looked amazing.
We had a server knock over my beer and spill it all over my girlfriend and break over the floor.
Great service, great food, great beer! Overall awesome experience.
The is one of my favorite places to take guests for special occasions and there were 11 of us! Those who did not order the salmon were satisfied with their choices, but three of us ordered the salmon entree and were beyond disappointed ! While the salmon itself was fine, the sauce was soooo salty that the rice and the veggies sitting in the sauce were left untouched. It was so salty, it was bitter. Very disappointing.
The site, however, and the beer were very satisfying. Next time, I will skip ordering an entree and just have an appetizer with my brew.
Great beer with nice guest taps as well. That's the best of the experience. Front of house always seemed harried and disorganized. This time, we were told a wait time of 20 minutes. Monday night and fairly quiet. No one waiting in lobby. Went to bar to wait. Many open chairs. In fact, we passed by a dozen open tables. I understand if they don't want to open up a section, but it was puzzled ng to wait 20 minutes. When seated outside, again, we saw many open tables. Forced us again to ponder ’Why did we have to wait’?
Food was very average. Was reminded that Stone almost tries too hard with their menu write-ups versus what you get. I like to support a little call business, but it gets harder to choose this as a dining location. No brainer if just looking for a beer.
My duck tacos were so salty that I could not eat all 3.
Brussel sprouts were overcooked and burnt.
Should have sent it all back.
We came for brunch, walk around Outdoor area out side and then went on a tour. We were checking out the venue for an upcoming celebration. Later we decided to grab a bite to eat before leaving.
The hostess in the afternoon were very rude and suggest we sit in the bar after we asked for a table. I told her we’d wait for a table. She continued to gossip with 2 other hostess in the front. She sat us and gave dirty menus. Not the service we were expecting after spending $200+ on brunch, $25 tour and $85 at the gift shop. Thankfully all other staff in the morning was professional and had great customer service.
Absolutely LOVE Stone Brewing Co (especially the Escondido location!) for birthday celebrations, as well as general get-togethers with friends. My boyfriend & I were only disappointed by the very recent removal of the soft baked pretzels with unique and tasty cheese & mustard dips. Please bring that appetizer back! :-) All servers and kitchen management as well as the hosts are very welcoming & friendly. The entire visit is always so much more than just a meal at a restaurant, it's a dining experience. Incredible craft beers, delectable food, and an overall exceptional experience all craft brew enthusiasts can appreciate!
The food was really good and the atmosphere of the beer garden is really cool.
My wife and I took the Brewery Tour and had lunch afterwards for my 60th B-day . Our tour guide Brendan was very informative about the brewing process of all the tasty brews that Stone has. The food was tasty and delicious, great service and very welcoming were all the staff . Five Golden Thumbs Up for Stone Brewery and it’s Bistro.🤓👍👍👍👍👍
I’ve always wanted to come here for the last four years. Live a large distance away, but was worth the drive! The food was great, and the atmosphere was great as well. It’s very cozy and has waterfalls and outdoor seating with propane bonfire and torches.
As i was leaving last night, my family wanted to take a photo after dinner as the restaurant was closing. We had already left our table to take a photo and the busser told us in a disrespectful way that “we’re closed”. You should better train your employee in a hospitality way.
The ambience of this restaurant was unexpected being that it located at a brewery. It was open, airy and relaxing. The menu also had a great variety of options, with some vegetarian options. They also were accommodating for my son’s soy and peanut allergies. The service was great. And of course, the beer was amazing. My only regret is that I don’t live closer to it!
Excellent as always! Duck tacos and ribs are the highlights.
Went here for my husbands birthday. Service and the food was great! Sat outside, aumbiance was nice with live music. Really enjoyed ourselves, we'll be back when we’re in the area again.
Excellent meal that was served hot on a busy night, good job!
Great beer, good food. They did NOT have a record of our open table reservation, however.
Love this place! Make reservations if intended to get seated right away or get a table. Everything is amazing about this place! Outdoors is amazing as well as the interior!! Best brewery i have been too for sure!
The setting is lively on a summer evening but service is quite slow. Thursday evening is good for music entertainment and children can safely roam around the gardens as you eat.
Quail knots and Brussel sprouts starters were outstanding. Beer as always fresh and complemented our food. Staff failed to note our anniversary but we survived. Unfortunately Stone doesn’t offer a military discount
Service has a low score not because of our waiter (who was great) but because we’d prebooked using Open Table only to be told to wait when we arrived slightly earlier than our booked time (12 minutes) . This was ok but then seated unbooked guests before us. When taken through host led us to a table inside when requested outside. Moved us outside when asked but we were told seating is not guaranteed. However quite a few tables outside but we were placed alongside busy walk through. Asked to be moved again and finally sat on lower terrace which had ‘reserved’ on it. After that everything was great - food, drinks and service. Love this place but wondered why we booked.
Service was terrific and the scenery was amazing! Great ambiance and food. Will definitely come back!!
This was my second time going and I can’t say that it was a great experience like the first. When I got there, the host was friendly and told me they were getting our table ready. I had marked my reservation to be seated outside and when the server came she had an attitude and rolled her eyes when I told her if she had a table for outside and she flat out said no and that I would have to wait 20-25 minutes and had to give up my reservation. So I sat in the table inside and went to the host and asked if she had a table outside and right away she said yes. She was very nice about moving us to a different table outside. Our server outside was super friendly with a great attitude and as she was taking our order I noticed the previous server still walking around with an attitude and still rolling her eyes. I’m glad we moved outside because once we were, I forgot all about the small incident with our server.
Our experience, per usual, was amazing. The food was the best part. We had the steak and the salmon. Both so delicious. The waitress didn’t smile much but she was nice. I was a little disappointed in the selection of beer brewed at stone. The choices was 90% IPAs. If you like IPA, then you had no problem. I had the brown. It was delicious. This is our 6th year in a row coming out for our anniversary. We plan on continuing our tradition as long as Stone Brewing continues to make great beer and food.
Always a must visit on the Stone Anniversary weekend...
We’ve always wanted to come to Stone because we’ve heard nothing but the best things!! Our experience was absolutely beyond what we imagined and we cannot wait to go back! We are already planning birthdays and just for fun occasions! Best experience ever!! Also, we went on the first night of Stones 22nd anniversary and saw the drummer Lars from Metallica! It doesn’t get much better than that!
Stone is a premier restaurant and brewery of world class! Can’t believe Escondido was lucky enough to have such an awesome destination. Food is unique, service superb and the beer ooh boy the beer is the best! The beer gardens lend a great place for fiends and employees to meet and conersate together over good beer, good eats in great grardens! Don’t miss place if your in San Diego County!
Great place to dine, staff very knowledgeable on the beers and food.
Ambiance is pretty unbeatable in this park-like setting but somehow they just miss the mark on the food time and time again. Pretzels and apps are ok but eating a full dinner here is not worth the cost. Go for apps and the brews (duh).
Food was great and appetizers also. Vert nice quiet place to be with friends. Service was very poor. Drinks took 20 min , we had to ask other waiters for silverware and water refills. We had friends show up late. We placed another order for drinks and waited 30 min no sign of drinks or waiter. They never came to ask if our friends wanted to order food. We ended up leaving.
Great location with plenty of seating and nice grounds and outside. Service was great. Food choices seemed rather limited.
