Stomping Grounds Grille
We wanted to create a space that we enjoy being in every day, and by doing what we love, share it with everyone else. There are always good tunes to be heard as soon as you walk in, including a record player in the back for those who want the full interactive experience...order a drink, put on an old favorite, sit back and we'll take care of the rest.
Whether it's diving into the concert vault on Phishy Friday or polishing off a Lobster Benny while Stevie Ray serves you a side of "Little Wing" at our Blues Brunch, you can count on the soundtrack to match our home cookin'.
So long as there's music in the air, food on the table and new friends to be made, we hope you find a slice of home at Stomping Grounds Grille. See you soon!
Charlie & Helene
Food was very good, musicians were amazing! What a treat to here such talented people in a small setting with great food and drink.
We were recommended by a friend but unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. Owner had 2 children sitting at the bar. 2 individual walk in customers that were seated at bar moved to 2 tables to get away from children. This meant that our reserved table was now not available and the staff did not have the courage to inform those people that they were reserved. Due to that we had to wait an additional 30-40 min for the table on our 19th anniversary all while sitting next to 2 not so quite children at a bar that could not be kept under control. Ok, it is what it is. We finally got seated. 15 minutes go by before asked if ready to order which is not horrible until we were then told (instead of when given the menu's) that 3 items were not even available in what is an already small menu. They also happened to be 3 of the 4 items we came there for. Then we waited another 30 minutes until they brought bread. During this time we witnessed the server do the same thing in regards to not mentioning what was not on menu to 3 other parties. 1 of which got up and walked out and the other 2 with obvious disappointment in there reaction. Well then here comes our entries. Hold on, I said to the server we never got the appetizer we ordered. She then said "what did you order?" Did I mention this place has only 6-7 tables. I'm my opinion they are trying to pass off as something they are not which is an upscale boutique restaurant. My scallop casserole dinner was bland and watery. Two good things which I want to pass along are the steak my wife got was very good and the owner paid for our 2 drinks because of the initial wait. Not sure if we will give it a second try but its possible.
We had a great meal, but seated directly in front of the band was a bit to noisy.
We started with the seafood chowder which was amazing. My husband and I both had a different cod dinner and both were cooked well. The roasted brussel sprouts and beets was very good. The table split a lava cake with vanilla ice cream and it was just enough for the four of us.
Food was excellent. Service was okay. We were rushed out as the next sitting was present. For a small place, that’s service is typically slow which I do not mind as the food is worth the wait, I was extremely put off by the waitress telling us that the next reservation was waiting. I realize that it was Valentine’s Day, but there was a nice band playing, and we had ordered dessert as well as drinks that were not finished. I will hesitate to visit this restaurant again.
We made reservations for 5:30 on Valentines Day. This was our second time being here, so we knew that food pace was a little slower than we are used to, but that's ok...the food is worth the wait! We asked to sit in the room opposite the music as it can get very loud and it makes conversation difficult. (No knock on the singers/guitar player - they were good) We sat at a cozy corner table, however, it was very, very cold because of a draft (it's an older home ). We had to ask that the heat be turned up. It wasn't just our corner, a couple that came in after us asked to be moved to another table because their corner was too cold as well. I have a feeling, given the age of the place, that the heat may be too warm in one room and too cold in the other??? I would suggest putting two small electric fan-type heaters in the corners of the room in case someone is cold. Other than that, we will go back because the food is very good and the waiters and waitresses really hustle!
As usual very nice meal. Food was great and so was the desert.
My husband and I were sick so we didn't go but our guests did and had a wonderful and delicious time. They shared Charlie's chowder which is chock full of lobster, scallops and fish. It's outstanding. They also split a salad and the Swordfish dish. They raved about it as well as the service LeeAnn provided. Dave Yaeger was playing guitar and was terrific as always. We'll be back with them soon. We love Stomping Grounds Grille just sorry we missed this date.
Fantastic food. They did run out of one of the specials, but they certainly made up for it! Great food and ambiance. It is small so I recommend reservations. Highly recommended
We had another fun and delicious evening. Dave Yaeger was playing guitar. We had the soup of the day which was Portuguese kale. It was so flavorful and soothing on an extremely cold night. We both had the chicken with lobster tail, asparagus and hollandaise. Our waitress LeeAnn was slammed as the place was totally full. She managed to take great care of us. Charlie and Helene were terrific too. We'll be back soon!
What a wonderful find in Buzzard's Bay, especially for those who love excellent music combined with excellent food. Love to support local and family businesses--hoping this place is here for a long time to come!
We had another delicious and fun evening. Dave Yaeger was playing guitar. Our friends enjoyed Charlie's chowder which is chock full of lobster, scallops, shrimp and fish. I had the swordfish Nantucket that has a Marsala sauce, shrimp and scallops on top. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. My friend had the Mediterranean stew that came overloaded with everything and so tasty. Her husband had the special of the night which was a filet of sole preparation that he loved. My husband had the chicken Oscar which has a chicken filet topped with lobster tail, asparagus and Bearnaise sauce. What a winning combination. Leanne was our waitress and was so efficient and friendly. Charlie was the chef and prepared everything beautifully. We love bringing friends here. Stomping Grounds Grille never disappoints! I can't wait until the next time!
As always Helene, Charlie and Marni were exceptional. We brought friends with us and the guys had Charlie's chowder that is fabulous. So thick with seafood. Our friend Mike said it was the best he has ever had. Us ladies split the mussels which were sweet with great wine and garlic. Both of us ladies had the Carpet Bagger which is an amazingly tender filet mignon with lobster tail and bernaise sauce. It was outstanding and my friend was so happy I recommended it. She ate everything. My husband had the chicken oscar that is so delicious as well chicken breast with lobster tail, asparagus and bernaise sauce. Mike had the scallops and cheese. He said it was great and neither of them let each other taste their dishes because it was so good. Mike had the bread pudding and we heard it was fabulous but again no one got to taste it...haha. We just love bringing people with us because we know it's going to be a delicious and fun time.
Everything was terrific. The wait staff and chef were awesome.
Great little place with nice ambiance, decor, and unique food with generous portions!
We love it! They bought us a round of drinks to say thank you for being back. The beer selection is awesome and I'm recommending the Crafty Radler to Charlie for when they read this. It has such a cozy and charming atmosphere and the food is consistently fantastic.
We were just back for the first time after being away for months. Couldn't wait for the Stuffed Scallop, Chowder and Pistachio Encrusted Salmon! Consistently great!
We met out of town friends for dinner on a Saturday and chose Stomping Grounds as it was the mid-point between us. We were welcomed warmly but had to wait about 15 minutes for our table. Then we were seated right in front of the nightly entertainment, a very nice acoustic guitarist. Had we just been there to listen to music, it would have been great. But it was not ideal for conversation with friends we hadn't seen in months so we asked to be moved. Our next table was ideal for conversation.
We enjoyed the food but there was only one server working and she had too many tables to be attentive to any of us. She did her best but we waited quite a bit for our drinks and our order to be taken.
We would go back, however. The restaurant is charming, cozy and has good food.
Everything was delicious and incredible. We shared Charlie’s chowder which has chunks of lobster, scallops and cod as well as mussels that were beyond delicious and delicate. The shrimp 🦐 cocktail was generous and perfectly done. 3 of us had chicken Oscar that had a perfectly prepared chicken with a lobster tail, asparagus and bernaise sauce. The drinks service and preparation was off the chart!
An excellent dinner out at Stomping Grounds once again! Thank you.
I always enjoy our experience at Stomping Grounds. Excellent food, good entertainment, excellent atmosphere. Always look forward to seeing Leanne as well; she's very good.
Not able to accommodate out party comfortably, and we made a reservation well in advance- Very loud and unpleasant music- décor very overly done- not a vibe conducive to enjoying a meal- food was good- a bit over-priced.
We had a wonderful meal and great music. This is such a delicious and fun restaurant. We take visitors here as well as loving it all year round. Helene the owner chef is so talented. Also son Charlie owner and manager and Marni was our server. What a great team. We had the chicken oscar for the first time and it was so moist, crispy yet bursting with flavor of the asparagus and Bearnaise sauce. Their drinks are fun too. I had a cinnamon girl and my husband had a comfortably numb. We were also lucky that Dave Yaeger was playing guitar and singing. He's the best! We love coming here with the funky music album art on the walls and wonderful people.
Great place! Service, atmosphere, food excellent. Every time we go we’re never disappointed. Varied specials are great. Always hard to choose - want to try everything!
This place is always great! Almost afraid to review since it might get to busy to get a seat!!
Second time eating here, first time was so good my wife and I invited another couple. The prime rib steak was seasoned just right, good size and delicious. Others had pistachio salmon and one had the cod dinner, everybody loved their meals. Lee Ann ( I believe was her name) our waitress was attentive, personal, and cool. We’re heading back soon.
Always a great experience! We always look forward to it and always enjoy it!
Every experience here has been a great one. THE CHEF IS EXCEPTIONAL! and the staff is always pleasant
Food was delicious as always! Music was great. We sat in the other room but it was the perfect volume. Loved our cocktails as well...you can tell a lot of care and love goes into everything that comes out of the kitchen!
Cozy place with friendly service and good food. Would definitely recommend.
My husband and I went to the Stomping Grounds Grille for my birthday last Friday. We love and go frequently there. When we arrived everyone wished me a Happy Birthday including the featured guitar player Dave Yeager. Helene and Charlie are owner Mom and son. They had their specials on a page for the night but they had put on the top Happy Birthday Sue! Marni was our wait person who is the significant partner of Charlie. Also Ami was great too. I started with their Cinnamon Girl drink and Steve had comfortably numb. All the drinks are named by songs. They have record cover and posters all over. I started with the special crab bisque which was out of this world and topped with crab meat. Steve had the lobster raviolis from the regular menu that are always delicious. I had the Mama Helene's Prime rib cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. Steve had the Cajun swordfish special that was delish as well. They had given me a gift bag with some adorable gifts as well as a totally funny card. We were going to leave without dessert and out came the lava like cake with ice cream and all singing happy birthday. This was so delicious and memorable!
The food, drinks and service are always great. Prime rib was one of the best I have ever had and cocktail selection works well with the meal. I dont know how they turn out such great food with the small kitchen she has to work with. Almost forgot, wings are unbelievable.
I have already recommended it to several other people.
Homey, welcoming atmosphere in a former home. Great service, big beverage selection and very well made, food was excellent, live music was nice. Great experience -- we will be back.
Amazing local spot with an outstanding food, and drinks menus!
Always a great experience when we dine there. Good food, good music, great atmosphere. I am curious however, why I received a notice cancelling my reservation when we were there on time.
Loved the overall feeling of this place, they were busy but they didn’t make you feel rushed. The food was excellent and especially the desserts. Would have like to sit in the room without the music felt like we had to talk over the singer. But really loved the whole experience
The food was very good and the restaurant itself was very relaxing.
Pleasantly surprised. Love the music themed room we sat in , entertainment, and excellent food !!
