Stokes Grill and Bar - Old Market Ratings and Reviews
I can now say I've officially made appetizers a thing for brunch! I went there for Sunday brunch with a party of 6 to celebrate a small baby shower with family. We ended up ordering some appetizers from the lunch menu as we waited for everyone to arrive and chat. The empanadas, chili queso and deviled eggs were amazing! Then to top it off we had our breakfast orders which included the chicken fried steak with chile verde and banana bread French toast with bananas foster. Everyone was super full and satisfied. It was a memorable meal for a special occasion.
We have visited Stokes several times and have always been impressed with the courteous and efficient service, as well as the excellent food and wine. We have been seated quickly, even without a reservation. However, the efficiency of making a reservation online is very convenient and easy.
The food was fabulous however our waitress was pretty slow, she said there was a wedding party in the other room and she tried to get our order in before them. I was the only one from Omaha on the other 13 were from out of town, I was hoping to impress. We had to wait forever to get our checks and some patients we're growing thin. I will still go back because the food is consistently good
Party of 10 (6 adults, 4 kids under 7) with reservations. FOOD IS EXCELLENT! 1/2 off bottles of wine in Sunday. We had a nook to ourselves and it was perfect. The food is amazing. We were visiting from out of town but will definitely be back in the future!!
Our server and trainee were excellent - explained the menu in depth and answered all of our questions. There were 10 of us and we had a variety of entrees. The fish tacos are wonderful - every version from the steak to the blackened salmon. The nachos fed the entire group as an appetizer. The options of beers was nice compliment to the variety of food we ate. The Mayan fire linguini is always good as well.
We had a group of 12 and they accommodated us the day before with a table in the "library" (private room). We were looking for good food at a reasonable price, and in a casual setting as we were traveling and it fit all very well! Our server Lindsey was FANTASTIC and the food was great! My wife has celiac and they had a separate gluten free menu for her and the waitress was super helpful steering her to things that fit her diet and her taste. I had not heard of Stokes before, but would highly recommend, especially to larger groups.
We have eaten at Stokes on a number of occasions. Of all those instances, we were probably the most disappointed with this visit. My wife had the tilapia and I had the meatloaf from hell. Mine was actually quite good as always. It is one of my favorite entrees at any restaurant in Omaha. My wife's fish (and rice for that matter) on the other hand was cold. It had been sitting in the kitchen for quite some time before she received it. The odd thing was that the vegetables were steaming. Anyway, we will probably give Stokes a pass on this one and consider it an exception. If it happens again, we may not eat there again.
Stopped by to have dinner with friends. The food was really good with lots of selections, plus they have a gluten free menu which is very important to my god daughter. We were visiting from out of town. Our food was delivered and we were able to easily have dinner and make it to the airport on time that evening. The host made sure things went smoothly.
I was disappointed with the hostess and seating arrangements. I made reservations for either the bar or outdoors. She did neither. She was saving the bar tables for people with reservations. I reminded her that I had reservations. The end result was we had great service outside with Arielle. The lesson is don't argue with your guests. The hostess checked my reservations and confirmed my position.
The food was good--enjoyed the empanadas--and the drinks, generous in size. The service was not great--we sat at our table for a good 15 minutes before we saw a server (not ours) and getting our drinks took another 10+ minutes. And the place was not crowded at all--early evening while the evening College World Series game was on. We would have sat outside on the patio but there is construction going on--not very appealing.
Took my guy here for Father's Day. He loved the bloody mary make-it-yourself bar and his brunch of hueva ranchero. He said they were substantial and tasty. I had a simple pancake and chirizo sausage (off menu) and it was good as well. We have always enjoyed the ambiance and elected in dine in this time though outside was available. Our server was attentive. Parking was available right outside the door and the Old Market area is just a wonderful place to hang out before/after a meal.
