Love this place, professional, friendly bartenders who know how to make a great drink.
Reasonable price and great food!
Overall it was very good. The food was amazing and generous except for the swordfish entree which was the smallest piece of fish I have ever seen as an entree!! Also, it was a Saturday night and they had run out of dessert! That was a first!!
Simple pubby spot with simple pubby food. Hits the spot. Went before going to Orpheum for a show and had cider, steak tips and fried artichoke hearts. Satisfying food in a comfortable laid back setting.
They have the BEST burgers in Boston and their beer selection is top notch!
Last time I came it was great. That's been a few years. Food (I had the duck) was rushed and dry. It was as loud as usual which I expected. The service was good but the waiter was rude and rolled his eyes numerous times. Not as good as I remembered. Maybe one day I'll give it another chance.
For a drink or a quick bite but too loud for full meal. Felt rushed while eating while those at bar were relaxed. Waitress anxious to get us out so someone else could sit
Was looking for a casual pub with good food and a fun relaxed atmosphere. We got that and so much more! Great service from Alexander, delicious meals, a very cool atmosphere where we could sill have a conversation. If you are frustrated with the general noise level of most restaurants these days you will enjoy Stoddard’s! I will definitely be back.
Great food and beer menu, our server was fantastic and knowledgeable
Great food. Fondue pretzels are awesome. Steak tips & scallops were great as well
Can’t beat the atmosphere. Beer selection was wonderful, service great and delicious food. Looking forward to coming back next time we’re in town.
Food was good, problem was there wasn’t enough of it for the price. I don’t mind paying 26 dollars for steak tips, but I expect more than 4 or 5 ounces.
I have never taken the time to do a review, but had to in this case. We had wonderful service and the ambiance was nice. However, the food was terrible. We order fondue/pretzels and the pretzels were hard as a rock. When we asked about them, we were told they didn't have anymore pretzels, so we got bread instead? We order the poutine and it didn't have any gravy on it, so we had to ask for extra on the side. The cheese was hard and inedible. In each case we were polite about it, but so disappointed. I did get a crab cake with was ok. I was surprised when our bill came and we hadn't been credited for the pretzels. I want to assume it was just an 'off night' but I would never go back.
We visit Stoddard's everytime we have show tickets. Great location close to all of the theaters. Decent food menu and even better drink menu. We didn't realize the cocktail menu is different downstairs so next time we will be sure to specify upstairs or downstairs.
BEST WAITRESS! She was very good at picking out menu items, drinks, and making sure we got to our show on time!
I had loved Stoddards for after work drinks, but now I know it's also a good place for dinner.
Stoddard's has perfect Boston vibe - brick walls, dark wood accents, historical photos create a comfortable and familiar atmosphere. We had dinner just before a show at Boston Opera House and the wait staff was prompt and attentive. We shared the ribeye steak which was cooked to perfection, a couple of Caesar salads and some onion rings. All very tasty. We would certainly return.
Very slow service, especially for a restaurant in the theater district where people are often on a schedule to get to their shows. Food and drinks were average. Overall, would recommend for a quick beer at the bar, but not for dinner.
Great drink selection! Smaller food menu but all the items are delicious!
First time customer who booked due to proximity to theater district and after checking menu on line. Quaint "Old Boston" atmosphere with very friendly and helpful staff. Waitress well acquainted with menu items and made excellent suggestions. Generous portions of well prepared food. Would definitely return.
Great place for a pre theater dinner. Staff friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Food never disappoints!
Drove down from Maine with friends. Been to Stoddard’s before. Awesome experience! Will definitely go back!
Great food, great environment....
The burrata was great!!
Group of 5 for dinner on a Friday night, whole bar smelled like stale mop water when we walked in. Our server was clearly disinterested in working that evening as he was inattentive and with an empty bar we still had to wave him down to get his attention. To top everything off one of our party found a battered and fried ball of paper in his dish. The server offered to replace the dish, no one from the bar or “management” ever approached the table and we left after.
Maybe a good place for after work drinks but will not return in the foreseeable future.
As usual, the charcuterie board was delicious! (If you're there for lunch, make sure you get charged for the lunch board and not the dinner board which is a little more.) The wait staff is extremely nice and it's always a pleasure to eat there. The menu has loads of delicious items, so give it a try!
The food and the service were excellent!!
My husband and I enjoyed very much.
Nice mix of menu items, great, friendly service, good food. It's quiet in the front few tables, louder toward the back, so take your pick. The interior invokes an old time Boston that probably never really existed, but it's fun. Very convenient to the Opera House and other theater venues. One small note of caution, the mens's room needs mega-ventilation.
GREAT PUB atmosphere and wonderful fabulouse food!!!!
This is one of the few places are n Boston where you can actually hear the person you are with talking! The staff was very nice and food was very good. Would like to go back :)
We sat downstairs and the was a reception of some sort going on; making it somewhat "energetic". The service was great. The cocktail was fantastic (forget the name). The food (I got the duck entree) was great. Except for the noise level, everything was really really good.
Location in this old historical bar is an important plus if you are in the Boston Green area. The main floor bar is a great meeting place, especially if you enjoy different kinds of beer. The bar area is busy, the tin roof adds to the ambiance. Dinner reservation was spot on with OpenTable. Service was prompt, even though the place was packed on a Wed., night, around 7:00, with some patrons dining before heading over to the Orpheum Theater for an 8:00 concert. The wines by the glass were about $10.00 each, the rice bowl and the pasta dish we had were fairly priced and enough for each of us. Wait staff was pleasant and efficient.
We had a Wonderful experience with two children on a Friday night before attending the ballet. They went out of the way to accommodate kids meal request and make them feel special. We ordered the scallops and they were delicious. Ambiance was dark and cozy.
We were visiting from out of state. Ambience was nice and the servers were nice as well. Poutine fries were great!
Fun and delicious in the heart of the city. Nice ambience. Try to sit against the wall to lessen the noise.
Loved the atmosphere and the food was great. The place had a lot of energy and loved the music selection (any place that plays The Specials will be high on my list). We had a group of six and had a great time. We are not quiet talkers so the noise level was never an issue for us. Would definitely go again.
Somethings have changed and not for the better. The drinks were watered down and the ginger beer they used was flat. The chicken wings were better before they had more flavor.
Food and service were sub par. Had to wait 15 minutes for drinks and it was not crowded. Would not go back.
Somewhat disappointed with our experience. Restaurant was not that busy but service was very slow and waitress had zero interest in our table of 7. Kale salad was delicious as was the meat and cheese platter but the scallops had too much cream sauce and were hidden under a heap of lettuce. Drinks were weak in liquor. We were surprised to learn there was no coffee or dessert.
We had relatives staying at the Godfrey Hotel and Stoddard’s was nearby. Glad we made reservations thru OpenTable as it was Saturday night and Stoddard’s was packed. My wife had the mussels and they were very good, the rest had hamburgers cooked to our individual tastes and they were very good. Great selection of beers on tap.
Caroline (I think was her name) was an amazing server! Thank you to everyone there for making the night so much fun on Friday! Great food and great drinks!
Winter = snow.
Stoddard's = LOUD.
Wait staff = SLOW (in several ways).
Food (Shepherd's pie) = very good.
Food (Shepherd's pie) price ($24) = are you kidding me?
Recommend to friends = I'll tell them about my experience and let them figure it out.
