Food was great as always but noise level made it difficult to hear my party. Staff were very helpful and service was terrific.

This is a great place to meet up with friends or pre/post theater. The food is delicious, and the beer list is unbelievable. The noise level is very high, so if you are looking for quiet conversation, ask for a table away from the bar.

Food average only. Service too, we even had to prompt for cutlery after the food had arrived for a while. Too noisy for comfort.

I’ve been here several times in the past, but this had to be the WORST experience ever. The waiter had the personality of a wet rag. He seemed annoyed that my party of 6 needed 2-3 minutes to decide on drinks. Considering they only gave us 1 menu, we had to share.
Appetizers came out before our drinks. Fondue was mediocre, pretzels were hard, Poutine was basic. When dinner was served, Nobody finished even half their food because it was so bad. Dried out chicken and beef, over cooked fish & chips. Just horrible. Even with half of the food left on our plates, the waiter never asked if we wanted to take any of it home. He just took it all off the table. Not that we would have, but i think he still should have asked. Since i felt so guilty that i was the one who selected the restaurant, I paid the entire bill

Always enjoyed this place in the past. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll ever return

Very unfriendly bartender at the lower level bar. It was our first night in town and it left a very bad taste in our mouths...

Stoddard’s is our new go-to stop before events at the Boston Opera House. Easy reservations with personal call for follow up. Attentive servers, great food and outstanding beverages have made for great experiences with and without tween girls.

My first time at Stoddard's and enjoyed the country chicken sandwich. Big portion - took half home and had it for lunch the next day.

Loved the old corset building - very unique and clean.

Only negative is that the onion rings were greasy.

Let's see what was good - the historic building, location, cocktails, Bratwurst as main course.

What didn't work for me was - loud music, a little distracted and probably super busy server, bland and dry pork belly appetizer, a little too salty rabbit pie and once again bland lamb ragu

Boston has many fine eateries with great food but this just isn't one of them

My husband and I had our anniversary lunch at Stoddard's. We had planned it a few months ahead as we are from out of town. We let the management know ahead of time that we were spending our anniversary with them.
The good: The roasted cauliflower was tasty and I am not a fan of cauliflower, but I could have eaten two bowls full. They also have a nice selection of beer.
The bad: No one seemed to know that we were there for a special occasion. Not that I expect a parade, but when you choose one restaurant over thousands, you expect maybe some personalized service. The server seemed bored and was not very personable at all. The sandwiches were not great. Overall, we left disappointed, but happy that at least the bill was relatively inexpensive.

We reserved Stoddard's as a pre-theatre dinner. We waited about 15 minutes before our table was ready and when we let the waitress know we had theatre tix, she was more than accommodating.

The drink menu was creative as well as classic. The appetizers offered had a breadth of choices. We went with cauliflower and scotch eggs. The former were nice and crisp, though not enough flavor for me. The scotch eggs were new to me - and while they were good, I don't think I'd order them again - because it wasn't my cup of tea.

My husband enjoyed his fish and chips. Super fresh and lightly fried. I liked my scallops. Huge portions that totally satisfied.

Loved the history of the restaurant and the waitress was super friendly. Will visit for drinks again one of these days.

Very convenient to the theatre district in Boston. Had some creative dishes. Need to learn to pour a bigger glass of wine. Other than that a very enjoyable evening.

Our family of four visited for dinner. All four of us were disappointed by our food from gnocchi to burgers and a grinder. Worst of all was the service. Our waitress was clearly having a bad day and let it show. At one point she left, came back and apologized presumably for her attitude but things only improved modestly. When I got home and checked the receipt for her name, planning to send a note to the restaurant, I found that the server name on our receipt was Michael. This seems unlikely. If everything else had been perfect I would still warn that the establishment is extremely loud.

We went to Stoddard’s before seeing a show. It was incredibly loud - too loud to have an enjoyable dinner with friends. It was more of a bar scene. The beer and cocktail menu was great.

Great place for appetizers such as the charcuterie board and cheese fondue with pretzels. The dinner menu for entrees are.. "different" so I'd recommend taking a look at the menu before going. If you're adventurous with trying rabbit or duck then this could be up your alley. We stuck to apps and drinks. The bartenders know what they're doing when it comes to cocktails. My friend ordered a dirty martini and she said she hadn't had one that good in a very long time. Beer selection is incredible and around 20 on draft.

The bartenders were beer-knowledgeable, the staff overall pretty friendly and engaging, and the food paired well with the beet. The beer menu was full and varied, but they were (sadly) out of the brew I'd come in for.

I had never been here and it was nice to experience a great local hot spot in the theater district. Food was excellent, atmosphere really up beat, and very popular. It was on the loud side but not a bother.

Overall great experience with good food and service. My only criticism is that my mother's pork chop was very undercooked. We sent it back and it was cooked properly. I think there should have been a discount on the bill to reflect this.

The food was amazing, drink menu was extensive, including a few hard-to-find beers on tap. Service was a little iffy at times but it was a Saturday before a big show in town and was very busy, so understandble. It was really loud there so not ideal for a first date.

Stoddard is a energetic watering hole for the after work crowd in downtown Boston. But it also has a fine menu with thoughtfully prepared meals The dinner service is fast if you're trying to dine before a show. But it's not the ambiance you'd want for a "fine" meal. Too noisy.

We made 9:30 reservations for after a show and arrived a few minutes early. We were seated and given menus. Ordered great wine and beer and then ordered appetizers and burgers. The appetizers were substantial -- three huge pretzels for the fondue is TOO MUCH. And the bouillabaisse was not a bouillabaisse. It tasted like canned tomato soup with the seafood added. The seafood was plentiful but only shrimp and mussels, no scallops.
While we were halfway through our starters, the burgers showed up. They took them back and THEN and ONLY THEN were we told the kitchen closes at 9:30 and that was why the burgers came out so fast. There was nothing about this in the reservation, not mentioned by the hostess or the waiter.....
When the burgers came back they were cold and the fries and onion rings soggy. Taste of the burgers were good but the cold and non-edible fries/rings made it not a great meal.
However in the end the waiter was apologetic and took the two appetizer prices off our bill!

Great ambience and the drinks looked great! The food was not great though. We got the red snapper (which I love usually) but it was rubbery and lacking flavor, which was a huge bummer because it was pretty steeply priced.

The lunch menu wasn't very extensive--mostly sandwiches, a couple of salads--which isn't a problem because the food tastes good. HOWEVER! It wasn't very vegetarian friendly--and even worse for vegans. :( This is a big minus in my book, and means I probably won't be going there or taking groups there again for lunch.

It was really, really cold. Like, seriously uncomfortably cold.

It was way too loud upstairs for a business dinner. But, there is another smaller bar and more tables downstairs where it is much quieter. Food was spectacular. Our server recommended the soft shell crab and red snapper which were both excellent.

Went here with my wife before a Sox game. Good atmosphere, lots of ornate woodwork, high ceilings. The food was good but we thought the choices were somewhat limited as the menu was kind of eclectic, perhaps trying a little too hard in hipster fashion, but to be fair I'm meat and potatoes. I had a really good mixed drink and service was good.
