About Permanently Closed - STK - Washington D.C.
This restaurant is permanently closed. Permanently Closed - STK artfully blends two concepts into one—the modern steakhouse and a chic lounge. A large central lounge area is furnished with creamy leather banquettes and textured crocodile tiles, and is surrounded by an elevated dining room for more formal dining. Theatrical lights illuminate each table, while a DJ creates an energetic vibe throughout the entire space. STK Washington D.C. is located in Dupont Circle and is in close proximity to D.C. attractions as well as being in the heart of the best night life in the Nation's Capital. As anticipated, steak is the main attraction. STK offers small, medium and large cuts of meat, as well as naturally raised options and market fresh fish entrees. Aside from steak, signature items include Parmesan Truffle Fries; Lil’ BRGs; Sweet Corn Pudding; and Jumbo Lump Crab Salad.

STK - Washington D.C. - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Horrible experience for a birthday party. Overpriced restaurant with lacking basic customer service. They sat us at the door, and I requested a different table which was denied and hostess said they "expected a full house". The house never got full, in fact. It was a Saturday and there was a dj, and music blasted so loud, we couldn't keep a conversation.
Food was average. My Brussels sprouts were burned.
Glad they're shutting down for good!
- The southern fried chicken and funnel cake was not on the menu
- I ordered the bottomless mimosas and only had my glass filled again once
- My friend ordered coffee he never received after waiting 1hr 15 min
I ordered vanilla ice cream with my French toast that never came
- Service was sloooooooooowwww
After traveling all day to meet my son... We spent time and money out in the very cold weather to get to STK for a late dinner... my son's last meal in DC after serving his country in the House of Representatives. Arrived on time to an insanely loud scene. The host informed us that they closed the kitchen and would not serve us even though we had a confirmed reservations and arrived on time. He was incredibly rude and lied about having attempted to call us. I had my phone in my hand with not one single call from STK. Will remember this and never go back to any STK locations after this treatment. Tell two friends... and so on. Unbelievable.
I had never been to STK before, but we were looking for something to do to celebrate my coworker's birthday, and they came in clutch with the last minute reservation. We were seated immediately, and the service was amazing. The food, although small portions, was amazing. But what do you expect from an upscale restaurant but small portions? Music was playing adding to the light and inviting feel. All around, an amazing night and dining experience!
Service was terrible! We waited 10 mins to be seated and another 20 mins before a server came. My husband had to get up and find someone so we could get served. Had to keep checking on our food, had to get our desert to go.... terrible experience and highly disappointing. Not the best experience for our anniversary celebration.
Deer-in-the-headlights service. They changed their french fries recipe from the last time i was there a year ago, and they are now not as good as mcdonald's . why they think pulsating music overhead is conducive to a fine dining experience is beyond me. my hearing returned to normal the next day.
It was my third time going in about a year, as a group of us celebrated a co-worker's resignation. I love the hip atmosphere, with the modern decor. I had the Skirt steak (with STK Bold sauce), mashed potatoes, jalepeno grits, creamed spinach, Rock Creek shrimp and Kale Caesar salad.
We chose this spot for date night. Good spot for this occasion. Service was pretty good as well. We ordered a bottle of wine and they were out of it so selected another bottle which they were out of and eventually after our fourth try got a bottle in stock. Our table was not ready when we arrived so the hostess recommended grabbing a drink in the lounge. We went to the lounge area and it took about ten minutes for the bar tender to take our order and then a few minutes after we placed our drink order the hostess came over to seat us. The bar tender had not yet poured our wine so we ended up just going to our table. The music was really good and enjoyed the atmosphere. Good spot for date night.
Great atmosphere! Music was hip, but not too loud that you couldn't enjoy conversation with friends. My husband and I had dinner with another couple and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We all had steaks, and there was no issue with how they were cooked. Our server was very attentive and responsive. The team approach is used, but he consistently checked in on us and didn't disappear. The drinks were really good. The menu is pretty pricey, but it's location behind The Palm serves as an explanation :-).
I went to STK to celebrate my birthday. The restaurants decor is nice. The DJ is a bit much though. Our server started out strong then she faded and became quite forgetful. All the food seemed to be prepared that morning then simply reheated upon ordering. Nothing amazing about the food or service.
To be greeted by friendly attentive staff the minute you arrive is a diners delight, the team made us feel truly welcome and couldn't do enough for us. The complementary bubbly to start our evening off was a great gesture - thank you for looking after us and making our dining experience special!
I went for my anniversary with my significant other, and we enjoyed it! We're from New York and we know there's about three spots out here but of course why not try it somewhere different especially for our first time at STK. We really enjoyed ourselves, it's very diverse which I loved! The staff was very friendly and our waitress was attentive. The food was delicious, it's a well known spot so it will be pricey but worth it. The dessert is also delicious. The music varies which is a plus. It's great for a date, and a group of friends or coworkers whatever. There's also a private room for a private dinner group. When you walk in you see everyone enjoying their food and company, happy.
Good ambiance and our server Asia was a doll. Drinks were amazing. Couldn't complain about that. The food however was disgusting. We ordered the lamb, rock shrimp app, MAC &Cheese and Brussel sprouts. To begin, everything tasted charred. Veggies and sides. Rock shrimp were tiny and dry. Lamb was over cooked and dry. It also tasted like brimstone. Mac & Cheese was salty, but our server did mention she felt it was a bit salty that night beforehand. We left feeling $200 poorer and HUNGRY. We ended up eating at TGIFridays. I'm not kidding. We should have gone to Mastro's or even Ruth Chris's or Morton's - because THIS food was a waste.
Oh and all the manager did was take one round of cocktails off of our bill although our food was clearly UNTOUCHED beyond a bite each.
We didn't care about paying the bill so we just did it and split. Never getting my money again.
When we arrived, the hostess wouldn't seat us until our entire party arrived. Two of the 6 of us were there but it wasn't as if they hadn't seated small parties of 2 or 3 in the same size booth for which were waiting. Furthermore, my friend had a cast on and they made her stand! Are you kidding me?! When I made the reservation, I wrote in the comment section that we do NOT want to be seated near bathrooms/high traffic areas/undesirable areas and she led us directly to such an area. I reminded her of my request upon arrival so we had to wait for them to prepare an appropriate table. The service was subpar, the DJ was all over the place but the food was ok. I will not be going back to this establishment.
Very friendly staff - our server, Matthew, was amazing. There were 5 in our group and everyone said their food selection was absolutely delicious - three different kinds of steaks and one person had the pork chop. We went on a Friday and there was a DJ - great 80's music but you had to scream to be heard. Not sure if the music is daily but something to keep in mind if you want a quiet date with conversation. Everyone said they would absolutely be back.
I hate to this this review but I wish I had read something as honest before dining. The food WAS wonderful. We both had wonderful cuts, mashed potatoes and spinach. Highly recommend the pepper crusting.
The service was absolutely horrible. There was a DJ (yes music) in the restaurant and it was obnoxiously loud. We would have over looked that had the other experiences been sub par. We saw our waitress 2-3 times all evening, with most times having to have someone track her down. She blamed the kitchen on the temperature of our dinner...bar for the drinks that arrived 20 min after ordering...sounds to me that she was a bit delayed on delivering these items to the table. Loved STK in Vegas, will never return now.
We had a waitress at first - she didn't greet us. She didn't tell us the specials. She simply walked up and asked if we were ready to order. We ordered a bottle of wine. She came back a bit later to take our food order. They were out of prime rib at 7:00 on a Monday night. After about 30 minutes a different waiter came and told us that they didn't have anymore of the wine that we ordered. We ordered a different bottle.
Then after that one of them stopped by once after our food (that we waited a long time for) asked how things were as he continued to walk on by. I flagged him down because both of our steaks were overcooked, and very dry. Also, our side dish came out about 5 minutes after our steaks - and the potatoes were luke warm at best, and they didn't give us a spoon. We asked for one, but nobody came back with one.
At that point the waiter said he'd send a manager over.
Nobody came back over to fill our wine glasses. Nobody came back over to offer us more drinks. We sat with plates in front of us even though we were clearly done for a good 20 minutes. We had to flag someone down to take them.
We finally saw the waiter again when he brought the bill with the dessert menu.
