We had a lovely meal. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
The chef’s seafood specials were excellent.
It was a fantastic dinner/birthday experience. I would recommend dinner to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy a great meal.
Absolutely wonderful first time visit. Waitstaff catered to our needs and were swift to refill drinks and remove empty plates. They were attentive but did not hover. Great ambiance! Soft shell crab appetizer was sumptuous. Definitely looking forward to our next visit.
Always delicious and very professional service.
Steven Ws is a great find downtown Newberry - the scored flounder with apricot glaze was 2nd to none, the pecan crusted halibut was very nice also. The grits were creamy and the veggies flavorful. We shared the key lime pie for desert. It was very secluded but it was a Wednesday evening, which just added to the ambiance with my wife for her birthday.
Loved the Flounder with the Apricot sauce. My first time eating, and I enjoyed it. Except the veggies were ho hum. the price was exorbitant in my opinion--come from Charlotte and would expect more for the money, but I was on a trip and can't really complain as the flounder was so good.
My wife had the pecan crusted chicken which she loved. I had the Cajun shrimp and scallop fettuccine which was very well seasoned, not too spicy. The dish had plenty of shrimp and scallops.
Service staff needs to have better knowledge on time on presenting food. I guess next time we will order drinks and wait until we order our 2nd drink to order an appetizer and then when we finish that order our main course. Server was very nice and accommodating but fairly new into the service industry.
Everything was awesome!
Very convenient to the Hampton Inn and the Opera House combined with good food & excellent service-
Enjoyed an amazing dinner here! This was our first time dining at Steven W's and can't wait to go back!! The staff was extremely professional, efficient, and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. I had the blackened salmon and it was amazing...cooked perfectly! Never had to ask for a thing- our server was top notch! Great experience overall! We can't wait to go back!
My husband and I always eat at Steven W's before going to the Newberry Opera House. We have never been disappointed. Both of us ordered the halibut feature and split their signature dessert which was an almond cookie waffle bowl with ice cream, chocolate syrup and caramel. Everything was delicious! Service was outstanding and we feel very safe eating there because they follow strict Covid protocols.
Was my first time to Steven W's and they are going to have a hard time topping the experience the next time I'm there! First off, if they have the upstairs open when you go there, try it out (as long as you can get up and down stairs). The ambiance is totally different than downstairs. Softer. More mellow. The food was amazing. Don't pass up the blackened scallops for an appetizer. And the signature dish - Apricot Flounder - was out of this world good. I can't wait to go back!! Oh, and our waitress Erin was fantastic!!
Great restaurant. Food is excellent and friendly service.
Food was delicious and the service was on point. When passing through anywhere close to Newberry we will definitely stop again thank you!
We have been to Steven W’s several times and it never disappoints. I love the atmosphere, our waiter was impeccable and attentive. The food choices are vast and the chef is one of the finest in South Carolina !
Just a great restaurant with excellent everything!
Whole flounder was awesome! Great service. Very, very nice restaurant.
This was our first experience at Steven W's. The reviews looked good and we were in town for a show at the Opera House, so why not, let's try it. The building was really cool with a downstairs bar and seating, however, we were seated upstairs, after the restaurant called to ask us if we were okay with that. The upstairs is just as nice and on a cold night, it was warm and cozy.
The food was wonderful. We were interested in the menu, but once we heard the specials, that was it. We were hooked on what the chef had prepared. I had flounder and my wife had salmon. Both were delicious and the salad was great too. We shared that. Plenty...the server offered to split it, but charged a $3 split fee. Wasn't too pleased with that, but oh well. Everything was cooked perfectly and was very warm when served. Not able to say that a lot at restaurants.
We are going back and will try other items...specials and off the menu. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
Steven Ws is a beautiful and clean restaurant. They are taking covid protocols thoroughly. The service was great, prompt without hovering. The scallop appetizer was the best! The entrees were good but sides were cool and unseasoned. Overall it wasn’t a bad experience but will try somewhere else.
The food and service was outstanding! We will definitely be going back!
Service was great , food was delicious and the atmosphere was good. We’ll definitely visit here again.
The flounder is a signature dish, and was fabulous. Huge portion. Others had the steak with Bernaise sauce , and from past experience, it is also fabulous. Their coffee is wonderful. Friends and I have a holiday tradition of going to The Gallery ( gift shop) in Newberry, and then having an early dinner at Stephen W’s. We live in another town but wouldn’t miss this annual “trip”.
Our third time eating at Steven W's while going to the Newberry Opera House. We both had delicious grouper dinners and a nice crab cake appetizer - the restaurant and staff are very Covid responsible and we felt very comfortable eating there. Good spacing out of tables! Delicious homemade rolls and wonderful service.
I love thé place.
Je recommanderai et viendrai plus souvent.
Je recommande ce restaurant . Son chef est quelqu'un de sympathique. La viande est cuite merveilleusement bien...
It was fantastic. Best seat in the house. 2 chairs up front so you could see lights!
Food was excellent. Christina, our server, was the best. Made it a great night out with friends.
Amazing food! I will definitely go back there again.
My husband and I love Steven W’s. The food is always a pleasure for the palate. The service is always excellent. It’s located downtown Newberry so you can go for a stroll after dinner. The opera house is across the street. Great food, great service, great location!!
Best halibut we've had since going to Alaska to get it fresh. Very well prepared with generous portions. All the accompaniments complemented the meal. Other member of our party had the veal saltimbocca and it was excellent as well. They had 4 deserts on the menu so we just ordered one of each and passed around the table. All were wonderful. Good wine suggestion from the waiter.
Loved the ambiance and food was outstanding. Enjoyed dining in a repurposed older building. The entrees were well prepared and flavor jumped off the plate. Some wonderful desserts followed the meal. The almond cookie boats and chocolate mousse were especially delightful. Would recommend Steven W’s to friends when visiting Newberry.
Had a very nice dinner returning to Steven W's for the first time in a few years. Travel from Columbia is a bit long but well worth it for the change of scenery. Only complaints were that they ran out of the Red snapper special and the almond fruit basket for dessert. Otherwise had great flounder done so well and moist and veal as tender as veal has ever been.
Delicious food with a great wait staff, what a wonderful evening!
Great location for an upscale meal prior to Newberry Opera House show. You do need reservations. I had the Pecan Crusted Chicken and my husband had the Chicken Santimbalco (misspelled I am sure). Both were excellent and the vegetables that accompanied the meals were mashed potatoes, lima beans and carrots. Yum! I had the crab soup which was good, but luke warm and just not enough of it. I heard people order the Flounder, which is a specialty. Heard rave comments when received. The rolls were warm and crusty. Our Key Lime Oreo crust pie was also yummy. We would go again. The show was at 8 pm and we got there at 6:15 pm. Plenty of time to relax, eat and take the short stroll across the park for a show.
Great food! Specials pricier than menu items.
Everything was delicious, However the flounder is way overpriced.
As usual, the food and service was fantastic. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly.
I had made a reservation for 2 to celebrate my birthday. The wine I had selected was not in stock, the server held my utensils by the portion that I place in my mouth to set the table, no mention of salads being ala carte when offered with meal, and when my son asked for a candle in dessert for my birthday the server said not available but I can tell you about our dessert menu. So we ordered 2 pieces of pie. There was no acknowledgement of the special occasion. We were both sadly disappointed.
