Steve & Cookie's By the Bay Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I had a delicious dinner Saturday evening. The earliest reservation we could get was 8:45 as this a popular, and festive spot all year around in Margate, NJ. The staff was very attentive and we did not feel rushed. My husband left his credit card behind, in the folder. When we called the next day, it was found and put safely away in an envelope. We were very relieved that they would additionally take good care of our lost card. Can't wait to go back!!
Always consistent. Great food and service. One of the best wine lists in NJ. Always busy. Even in the off season.
Only suggestion is that if you go often like we do the menu does not change much so we find ourselves ordering the same meal. It would be great if they had more specials that changed weekly or monthly.
They are in the top 100 for a reason and it is well deserved. You won’t be disappointed.
We had a very fine meal. Cocktails were great. Service by Jessica was outstanding. She even called us later in the night to tell us that she found my wife’s wallet under the table which we retrieved the next day. This is our second time at the restaurant and it doesn’t disappoint.
Our family of 6 went to Steve and Cookies before a Borgata concert - the restaurant chosen for something different for 6 people with very different tastes. The people are incredibly friendly (our waiter Hector was sensational), the dining room is bright and comfortable, and (despite an Eagles' playoff game) conversation was easy. The food was outstanding (the Brussels sprout appetizer was phenomenal and the crab cocktail was fresh and delicious). The entrees varied from steak and pork chop to vegan. All were remarkable. Superbly prepared and delicious.
Each time we dine at Steve and Cookie's, we are never disappointed with the ambience, service, food presentation, excellent choices, live music.
Although, there are times when the volume of chatter can be distracting, it would not deter us from coming to dine.
Usually one of the best dinning experience at the shore, however when we were there this week it was very crowded and tables were jammed together in the front room where we were seated, people kept hitting our table when they passed. Food usually perfect was cold and what was strange, there were no centerpieces or candles on tables in the front room resulting in the atmosphere being depressing. Maybe just a bad night.
One of the best restaurants in the country. Really! I travel quite a bit and always have an excellent meal here. Steaks and seafood are top notch. Cookie is the owner and she makes sure that EVERYTHING is wonderful. They even filmed a movie here! Indulge in their blueberry pie (summer) and banana cream pie. A must visit when at the Jersey shore.
We did happy hour enjoyably with excellent cocktails and treats.
Dinner was super for the three of us. The Dunedin filet was to die for (we were in Dunedin earlier this year). Best filet I have ever had, perfectly cooked. My wife had the superb halibut (which I tasted) and my son had the huge Dunedin veal chop. Do you think that Lucy is proud?
We had excellent service at the happy hour and at dinner. This is a class act and while it is a 50 minute drive from home, it is well worth the trip.
Twice a year I think about S&C and we head out to Margate for dinner there. It hasn't ever disappointed. Might be busy or crowded but the food is excellent and service very good and frankly fairly priced. It was equally good this time and the signature cocktails unique. Need to go back again soon
Steve and Cookies never fails to satisfy. It is no 1 in Atlantic County NJ. The restaurant is so good, it could stack up to restaurants in Philadelphia, New York, Charleston, or New Orleans. It is quite frankly my favorite Local restaurant: always consistent, great service, exciting and fresh food, comfortable, beautiful (inside and out), and free of nauseating attitude.
