Steve & Cookie's By the Bay Ratings and Reviews
I had high expectations given their reputation and a prior experience years ago. Apparently, things have changed because both my husband and my meal were really nothing special and for the price that’s unacceptable. My husband got the duck which was over cooked and dry. I got the pan roasted seafood medley. It was a nice mix of seafood, shrimp, scallops, 1/2 lobster tail, and some crab on top. It’s all served dry. No sauce, no drawn butter , no nothing. The shrimp and lobster tail tough and overdone the scallops cooked perfectly but no flavor to them & the crab was the best seafood there by far. It’s all served over lemon rice which was great but when the best thing we can say about both of our meals were the side dishes than they have failed. Even their wine suggestion disappointed me. We opted not to get dessert because I wasn’t going to pay their prices to be disappointed there too. My suggestion is if you want to pay for a great meal, don’t go here!
We dined on Valentine's Day and picked Steve & Cookies because it is our favorite restaurant. As we do on most visits, we shared a 2lb lobster. However, this time, it definitely was NOT 2lb. We said something to our wait staff, but got no response whatsoever. But it's still our favorite restaurant and we will be back.
We dined on a Monday evening and had a perfect experience beginning with the friendly greeting the moment we walked in the door, to the moment we exited the restaurant. Our server, Allison was pleasant, knowledgeable, efficient, and stopped by our table multiple times to ensure that we were content with each course. I had the Shaved Brussels Sprout Salad with walnuts, pecorino, lemon juice, and olive oil, followed by the Jumbo Lump Crab Pasta. My husband had the Chowder, followed by the Dunedin Filet Mignon. For dessert we shared Banana Cream Pie which Allison surprised us with for our anniversary. Everything was prepared to absolute perfection. There was also a pianist playing in the bar area which added to the ambience. We recommend Steve and Cookie's highly, and look forward to returning soon.
First time for us and we loved the experience! Everything from the food to the service was magnificent. The location is on the Bay and if you sit in the back dinning room you have a great view.
My only suggestion - heat the bread before serving, it would be even better!
My second visit to Steve and Cookies. Our server was pleasant and helpful. The menu is varied with many choices. There are nightly specials. I have had the fillet and meatloaf. Both delicious along with the veggies. My boyfriend and I also ordered the eggplant rolletini both times and it was sooo tasty. Looking forward to my next visit.
Steve & Cookies is our 'go to' place when we have guests or family in from out of town, and this night was no exception. Oysters were great, salads fresh and attractive, entrees were delicious and dependable. I got back into my rut of the double cut pork chop, spouse had the steak, guests had the pork chop and veal osso bucco.. All were delicious, and we came home with enough leftovers for the next night (the other couple cleaned their plates!). We'll definitely be back many times.
As always the food and service was very good. However, I cannot understand why a restaurant of this caliber doesn’t heat their bread. The bread is carefully wrapped and when you take it out it is very cold. Not even room temperature, but from the refrigerator. Less expensive restaurants even serve warm rolls.
