Sterling's Seafood Steakhouse at Silver Legacy Resort Casino Ratings and Reviews
We have eaten here several times in the past and it is still the best prime rib we have had
including a very popular restaurant in San Francisco that is supposed to be the best prime rib anywhere. Serving staff was great also. We will definitely eat here again.
My Filet Mignon/Risotto/Scallop meal was very good. Unfortunately, my date's Roasted Rosemary Breast of Chicken was not appetizing. The chicken was dry and overcooked and the potatoes were very bland. She had me taste it and it was underwhelming indeed. My date was very shy and didn't want to trouble the staff, so I'm writing this review on her behalf just so it doesn't happen to anyone else, hopefully.
The service was impeccable from the hostess and the wait staff! The wine list was impressive but the signature cocktails fell a little short. The presentation of each entree was beautiful but the flavor just wasn’t there for any of us. We had two seafood dishes, a steak and a pasta between the four of us and while the potions were huge (you can totally share entrees) the flavor was bland and unimpressive. It certainly wasn’t bad food it just wasn’t WOW food. The service and ambiance made up for the mild flavored food and the dessert menu was full of fun tasty choices.
We go to Sterling's generally every time we are in Reno and we have never been disappointed. The staff is always super friendly very helpful. The food was amazing. The wife and I actually shared a porterhouse and added a side of clam chowder and it was all delicious
We've been to this restaurant several times when visiting Reno, this happened to be for our 38th wedding anniversary. I requested a booth on Open Table, but upon seating us we were given a table. Understanding our disappointment, Donald returned after a few moments and re-seated us in a booth. We ordered a Bottle of wine ($101) and our dinner. My husband ordered the special, Lobster ($70) while I had one of their vegetarian dishes. My husband had his soup and I finished my itty bitty salad and then we waited. And waited. And waited. No sign of our waiter Erik for about 45 minutes. Finally our entrees arrive. My husband's lobster was warm not hot and rubbery. My vegetarian dish was pretty good. It took about 15 minutes after we finished for Erik's "helper" to come take orders for coffee and dessert of which she served shortly after. But then it was wait, wait wait for the check. Again no Erik. After about 20 minutes I finally got up and went to the front where Donald was kind enough to locate Erik and get our check so we could leave and we did. When you spend over $300 on a meal for two, you expect more from your waiter. Maybe he had two many tables, I don't know...we won't be back to find out.
Waiter and staff were very attentive. Sommelier came by to chat about wine choice. Steaks were perfectly cooked and properly seasoned. You can reserve quiet booths for special occasions, and they place a card and decorations on your table prior to arrival. Manhatten was properly made.
My reservation was honored on time including the booth. Pleasantly, the salad arrived surrounded with the restaurants signature 'Crown' crouton which was novel and fun. Chateaubriand, presented medium rare as requested and perfectly carved table side. Worth ordering since it is not on many restaurant menus and it was delicious. Entree included vegetables and starch. The simple baked potato arrived perfectly cooked, hot with a salty skin. Robert Biale 2013 'Black Chicken' Zinfandel was perfect and one of many fine wines available. Fine stem ware and expertly poured during dinner. Two complementary strawberries dipped in chocolate were presented which was a nice surprise. Multiple levels of service, Will, Gary, and others lent to a perfect evening. When you are in the area... it's a good bet.
Our waiters were very personable and accommodating, however they cooked two of the four steaks at our table to the wrong temperature. Luckily it didn't matter much to us, but when we brought it to the waiter's attention, it was like "Oh, bummer" and that was it. Food was pretty good otherwise.
We normally visit Reno and Sterlings 4-5 times per year. In the past the service and food have been excellent. Although our group was larger this time, 8 people, we decided to make reservations at Sterlings. Unfortunately we were disappointed. The Service was a not up to the usual standard, waiter seemed a little confused and not too organized, may have been new. In addition the rack of lamb, which has been wonderful in the past, was not good. It was at least 50% fat. Also our baked potatoes were cold. No one in our group was impressed.
We hope this is not now the new standard for Sterlings!
New Year's Eve...obviously they were very busy. Only the two of us, so I believe we were forgotten for awhile to accommodate large tables. However, our waiter (Sergio?), and the maître d', made sure we were taken care of by filling our wine glasses at no charge as well as our sides at no charge. Wife's filet and lobster were wonderful and my filet was perfect. As always, we enjoy Sterling's Seafood Steakhouse.
Reno is a strange little town. The downtown area is not very inviting, but once inside the Silver Legacy, I felt more comfortable. The steakhouse is really a gem - traditional steakhouse fare, great food and amazingly attentive service. Wine list is really great - got the Groth Cab and had filet mignon with Bernaise. All very good.
This past visit was the second in a month. Had the bone in ribeye which was cooked perfectly and delicious. Friends had the daily special which they reported was tasty as well as presented wonderfully. I used to frequent Another restaurant in the El Dorado and switched over to Sterlings.
My wife and I went out of town for a couple of days, something we never do. After hearing great things from a couple of local residents, we decided to have a nice dinner at Sterling's. We were treated very well, and the food was excellent. The wine we were served was a different vintage than the one we ordered, but it was fine. We were made to feel as though we were the only table in the place, the service was fantastic.
A great special occasion restaurant. Not cheap, but you get excellence by paying for it. Food was wonderful. My wife says her lamb may have been the best she has ever had and she is Greek and loves her lamb. Every course of the special Christmas meal was outstanding. Service was excellent. Five stars!
The food was just okay. I was very excited to try the French onion soup (my favorite soup), but it tasted like bland broth, not rich and dark. I had the filet and my husband had the filet and lobster. Nothing memorable about those. It was extremely loud, so it was hard to have a conversation. Service was great though! I’ve tried every steakhouse in Reno and Harrahs steakhouse is by far my favorite and much more quiet and romantic for date nights, so I’ll stick to them.
